Wow... This used to be my favourite amiga game. I got stuck on this game at the end of the third level and could never work out how to kill the level boss. I spent AGES on it.. and no internet at the time to help me out! It has bugged me for over FIFTEEN YEARS... but I can finally see how it was done. Now I can finally be at peace. Thank you :)
This was one of my favourites! I know it's not really special but the graphics, music and stuff were made with a lot of love for the genre! I played it a lot on my Amiga 500 .
Chris Sorrel was an amazing artist who could make some real good cute graphics. I always wanted to meet him, I am a big fan of his work, and he never got the acclaim he deserved.
I always loved this product, already as a kid: skilled handpixeled background graphics, sensible fine-pixelded color-rich sprites, fluend animations of all sprites and fluend playability with fitting sound effects to all of that, all those awesome oldskool phantasy or dreamy creatures, ... :-). There should've been some more games of this kind of quality (not that there are no other kind of those classics, but..).
When I was a child, I played this in a computer shop, but unfortunately I didn't know the exact title, so it took me over 10 years to find it on the web (I remembered something about "Fire"). Beautiful graphics, it had enchanted me at the time. Unfortunately it was very difficult to play without a trainer, we didn't even get to the second level. Please turn back time to 1990 :-)
On the screen that begins at 3:07, you can get an extra life. Use the same technique that you used at 8:58; shooting a fireball to the right and just above the top of the screen. Not that you needed that extra life! Very well played.
i had forgot all about this game , used to play this quite a lot on satarday mornings. perhaps inspired by G&G a little , but the 2 cannot be compared at all , totaly differnt style of gameplay in both games. the music was grate for the time and that sort of arangement was often heard on the amiga. i had not played this game since the early 90s and i recognised the title music instantly.
FaB is a very polished game, a lot of work has gone into the artwork. Other than Core games, I think this is my next favourite in terms of atmospheric graphics. Its also quite a large game, and extremely difficult. I remember always getting skewered by hard to spot traps. You may notice enemies do not have health bars; instead they get angry or irate.
Such a weird story, though : Nilfheim got no resolve or boss whatsoever ? You take an ankh, and go back home. (that's a good take on re-doing the same level twice, though. Better than ghouls'n'ghosts one I mean xD)
ok thats a point. the music and graphics are defnitely good. even the gameplay seems interesting with the different fireballs and hammers and stuff. but the storyline... ^ ^
20:56 : did this game... had a remake with other graphics or something ? Because I remember the giant monster frozen in an ice cube (and also being stuck there, because I was cheating and super young, back then, and never realized some potions could give you stairs xD) But it was very different graphics, in my memories, and there was like 2 pathways on each side (one on top, and one below) My mind probably plays tricks on me, but maybe there was another version or game with such a giant frozen monster ? This demon gave me nightmares, though. xD Always thought it might unfroze.
I remember, when I finally beat the first boss, I couldn't get through the door, cause I was missing one key segment. It took me a very long time to realize that some where located in hidden areas... I felt so cheated by the game..
Fantastic work on the graphics (in only 16 colours) - my hat's off to the artist. But this game is crying out for scrolling. No way should it be flick-screen.
Flip screen engine with Ghouls n Ghosts type graphics? Nah it's a waste of the Amiga's blitter and pixel scroll registers honestly. I thought better of Microprose really.
There is another game similar to this one for Amiga. Same style with a knight carrying a blade and shield... please send me a massage if you know the name.
@@deadgara unfortunately this is little information, don't you know more details, e.g. approximate year of publication? Direction of movement etc, etc. ? maybe then someone reads it and knows it.
@@xomkong All I remember that it was an unmasked Blonde knight with an armor, sword and shield. Side scrolling left to right. I don't recall the character can jump, the combat wasn't easy as you must use shield during combat. The theme of the game was not that gory or violence it was charming and funny as I remember. That's all I can remember so far and excuse me for my description, I played the game when I was like a kid near 8 year's old for few minutes and it was during a trip to some of my relatives in a different town. And definitely it was on Amiga no doubts about that.
@@deadgara the approximate year of publication would still be helpful. But btw, have you seen the several " Best of Amiga Games" UA-cam Clips? maybe your game is there somewhere.
i don't know what to say... let's quote AVGN here: "what were they thinking????" a game where you have to beat every lvl 2x and defeat every boss twice just to return to your home? i thought thor is a god, so how come he does have an energy bar? why does he live in a stupid wooden house? i thought the nordic gods live in valhalla or something... why is everything out to kill him, witches, goblins, water drops (?), frogs (??) etc. ?? probably one of the worst games out there ^ ^

This game drinks a lot from Ghosts and Goblins. :) It really looks a lot like it, graphically and in terms of gameplay.
it's looks like GnG but it's much easier
Only the graphics. The gameplay is much more like Rick dangerous
I m very proud to say went to the 11 minutes in my chilhood. Very Nice play for one of the hardiest game to play on the amiga
My very first AMIGA's game!

Remember this game from the A500. Things started to get really bad in Nidavellir :-O

but the storyline... ^ ^
Much better than the official Ghouls and Ghost conversion made by US Gold.
I love this Game!!!

It's the ghouls and ghost of the AMIGA
1:25
Is the music that starts on the boss at 25:00 Meatloaf's "Bat out of hell"? It sounds really alike to me atleast. =O
This needs to come to nintendo switch
I have just played it ... extremally hard for me :-)

Is there a way to pass Nilfheim without using a potion in the second screen?
No.
@@Amethyst_Friend thanks for the quick response 😂
How do you activate those bricks for jumping

is this conversion from Atari St ? No scroll and music durning gameplay... :P
gracz77 Yes, probably.

perhaps a lot , but the game plays nothing like G&G , execpt it has a guy who jumps up and down.
anyway both fantastic games.
looks nice, but!!! no music and slick screen scrolling! Why
@deadgara Ghosts'n' Goblins?
David Whittaker...... .again?!
but lacks the Classic yet Insanity Inducing Main Theme of GnG.
Dawn treader
