One can die for to have this ol' experience once again... Amiga 500 with ol' monitor in front of me. Some good old Marlboro, few beers, two days free time....
I've read claims that game would have antipiracy protection that makes game kill the squad at around the mountains, before the second swamp area. Don't know if it's true. Would make sense.
@@jothain maybe true. I think my game was cracked succesfully... The trick is to rest 10 minutes after every move. This makes your guys not lose health. Most players would march all day and then dig in 8 hours.
@@thecappeningchannel515 Now I'm thinking I had that copy protection version when looked this through, skipping few parts. I didn't even know that there's that scene about minefields. I'm not 100% sure how it went in my copy, it's been ages, but iirc they always walked into minefield, one member died and very briefly after that entire squad got into minefield or explosive ambush or something in style of that. It generally happened Anyway iirc game ended in explosion event. I'm fairly sure I tried to rest, like a lot and cycle members.
Thanks for giving me closure with this walkthrough. Never was able to finish it back in the day because it was hard af and the Angels crack had a bug round about that moment at 26:20 when the map scrolled the first time.
God damn, this was one of my first games for the Amiga and boy was it hard. I remember I only ever completed the game once, and that was only because Weaver was my last man standing i.e there was nobody else left on my own team in which to worry about or kill me! Every click on the last stretch was a blood pressure bonanza...!
Well, i just played that game, already on the last screen, i ate the food the old woman was giving me and guess what, it was poisoned and we all died. Next time i will shoot that evil bitch right away.
I don't know, but there was a booby trap called 'toe popper' made of a rifle round that exploded when a victim stepped on it doing damage to the feet. Vietcong soldiers were very creative with their traps so it could also be a very small IED that was made to hurt a soldier so the others have to take care of him or work as a noise maker to alarm the troops hidden in the jungle. 🤔
I remember this so well. Back in those days, my Amiga was the first computer I had with a mouse attached. My big brother told me 'that thing isn't for games' and so it never came to my mind to use that instead of the joystick. Even though tried my utmost, I never finished it [Like most Amiga games. Say what you will about replayability of modern games, just doing all the content and finishing a game back then *meant something*]
1:12:45 Poor old woman! You did the wrong thing, but I'd done it either. This is truly tragic! Nonetheless: Funny how a party of only seven men can become your whole world...
You better think twice whom you trust in this game. In real life, too, it was risky to accept food from Vietnamese who were posing as friendly to Americans.
As far as I remember, they shoot everyone and nothing really happens. They may discover some rice or even vc weapons, but I may remember this wrong. It is pretty much Platoon the video game, so prob based on the village scene in that movie which again was based om My Lai massacre.
Nope, not anyone I knew at school. The 'hack' is to double-march everywhere with ten minutes of rest after each 'pause' and have everyone on half-rations for about 1/2 of the games duration then onto full rations as you acquire more. Stay out of villages unless you need food desperately (first one), weapons (second one) and a few rations. The third and final village is a free food ration if you beckon the woman towards you. Use extreme caution when approaching villages and DO NOT use the paths, they are full of booby traps.
I never managed to finish the game. I always died when my group killed me.. Reason was that my english at 12 was not 100% at the time. Think the questioning was lacking
What a lame pathetic excuse for a "war". Calling this a "war" is quite a stretch. Vietnam to this day doesn't allow themselves to be dominated by external influences for the most part. But nice music.
That music was so damn epic back in the day :-)
it will always be :)
It's why I'm here now. The music sounds both melancolic and hopeful at the same time. Really suits the war scenario of the game
Best Amiga game music ever! :-)
One can die for to have this ol' experience once again... Amiga 500 with ol' monitor in front of me. Some good old Marlboro, few beers, two days free time....
A musician called Mitch Murder remade it with a lot of extra touches. It's worth checking out.
All I remember from this game is sad music and a helmet on top of a rifle. This game was hard.
Such a hard core game. I remember the horror and depressing feeling. Few games have really captured the true horror of war as vividly as this.
Played this a lot in the 90s but I never beat it, but the music has stuck with me to this day :)
I remember beeing so fascinated by the video clips in the game
Me too. Rumor had it, it was from the Movie Platoon. It was very novel for its time.
Me too!
Same here ;)
@@thecappeningchannel515 Be amazed: I've read an interview with the developers - these were hand drawn pictures! Yes, I was stunned as well.
@@christianherbst674 incredible. Just incredible.
Insanely hard game. I never got Beyond the first map screen, but I see now that the resting I did was wrongly timed.

@@thecappeningchannel515Yup, i did those 10 min rests too. Managed to get to the base with 3 men alive.
@jothain Yes, that's true. I had the same. I've copied another game, and that work just fine.
One of the favourites of my childhood. Always loved the music.

Tyle lat, a ta muzyka dalej przypomina mi najlepsze czasy zabawy..... AMIGA rulez!
I had totally forgotten about this game! The music, the little video shorts and the sniper section I was so bad at! Cheers for the upload 👍
I remember this game, In all the times I played it I got back to Du Hoc twice. thanks for the trip down memory lane
I just played it, 30 years later. Still can't beat it, too hard for me.
Eines der besten Amiga Spiele ! Leider habe ich es nie bis zum Ende geschafft ! 💥

God damit! I must have played that game a gazillion hours - never manged to complete it!
I want to find this game to my Amiga 500 again. I played it as a kid in the early 1990's. And the soundtrack is awesome. 👍😺🕹️
My favorite music from Amiga.
My brother loved this game. And I am still in love with the music.
I miss, in general, those times and, in this video, the disk sounds of the Amiga.
The games back then were 50% game, 50% imagination.
Sometimes I started the game just to listen to this music. Long and varied, it's hard to get bored.
This music is outstanding.
It sure is.. Thinking about that it was developed and came out over 30 years ago it really ahead of its time...

That is a very strong moment and leaves you with a bad feeling, though your actions are only described in the text.

what kinda booby trap causes burns and cuts to the feet? what did he do, step on a Molotov cocktail?
A mine

Красивая игра с философским сюжетом имеющим явную антивоенную направленность. Плюс офигенный саундтрек к ней.
This music was just... ahhhhh!

Congratulations great food movie of this wonderful game unforgettable 👍
Wonder if GoG will have this.
SUPER MUSIC AMIGA COOL 90S KING
1:13:05 Mama San's rice was poisoned. To shoot her was the only way to survive. Otherwise the whole group would eat the rice and die.
Glad to know....sneaky old lady
Great music.
Un jeu super esthetique. Mais un peu dur pour ma part.

if i remember correctly, if you take the food it is poison.
The rice was poisoned, she meant to kill you all.

Na kilkadziesiąt prób, tylko raz udało mi się dotrzeć do celu. Na moim Atari ST muzyka była inna, bardziej klimatyczna.
It is possible to download this game on mobile and play it?
After so many years and childhood memories.
Wonderful thanks so much for the memories.

What happens if you select the "kill all" option while being in a village? I'm just curious.

By the way 58 miles are 93.3 Km
never finished the game. still looks hard.
Did anyone ever win this game???
Not that I know of. Was a typical game that partly had an appeal bc of its difficulity. I've heard the trick is to never rest more than 50 minutes.

nice gfx and music, gameplay-wise there isn't hardly any.
without the original you couldn't complete the game.
My pirated copy used to crash after loading the mines section. Didn't stop me from trying to beat this game. But of course I never succeeded.
