  • Printify vs. Printful in 2023. Which should you use? I break down the cost differences, the operational differences, between the platforms, and ultimately what I would use if I could start over after making over $1,000,000.

    Printful or Printify is probably one of the first questions you'll have to answer before starting your online Print on Demand business.
    Most videos I've seen focus on the Quality of the products, but the issue is that most companies offer very similar quality and delivery times. Hopefully in this video I can give you some insight as to what you should focus on when picking a POD company.
    Here's some information I didn't say in the video that might be helpful:
    Quality: All platforms offer great quality (assuming you pick a good print provider on Printify)
    Delivery Times: Delivery Times obviously vary from platform-to-platform, but I've found Printify has faster options than the others.
    Seller Support: I believe Printify, Printful, and Gelato all offer great seller support.
    Fulfillment Locations: Printify has the largest integration service, but that doesn't mean they're all amazing. I would actually give a point to Printful here if you're a heavily international seller.
    Product selection: All three platforms have a great selection of products to choose from.
    Integrations: Printful has a direct Amazon integration, but Printify has a Walmart integration. At the end of the day, both can be connected to almost any platform and this shouldn't be a factor in picking.

    One thing you didn't talk about is the taxes and delivery time. Printful having facilities in the US, Europe, and Canada, makes things way easier to sell "internationally". I tried Printful and Printify and the results are not even a match. Being able to sell in every western countries without having to bother with custom fees and different partners is a bliss. If a customer buy something from the US, printful will automatically assign the order to their US facility. If the customer buy from France, it will choose the spain facility. And that changes everything. For a canva bought with a US partner for a customer in France, the customer will have to pay custom fees, and the delivery alone will jump from 13$ on printful to 45$ on printify and that's without the custom fees. And on top of that, printful mock up are way more nicer and SEO friendly.

    It'd be interesting to do a per-product choice of quality/price. Things like those "sister of the birthday boy" t-shirts will most likely only be used once or twice, so people probably prefer cheap and don't care much about high quality and durability. If it's something classier that can be used more long-term, then choose quality.

    Printful is expensive and they know it because they're proactive on inventory levels.
    My main issue with Printful on design is that they don't allow you to create variants within the design generator the way Gelato lets you unsync product variants, but Gelato's folder structure is nonexistent if you have multiple stores in one account. I have to scroll and scroll to find previous designs from multiple stores.

    Great video, Alek, but be careful with Printify costs. At least for t-shirts, they change with color and size. Printful has a much simpler structure - usually same price from S-XL and no change for color. Printful also allows you to print your logo on the label, which I couldn't find on Printify. Just did the math this morning: Printful is more profitable - at least for my business.
    Bottom line: make sure you do your research

    • @alekSheffy

    Once you add tax, the prices are higher. And when you factor in NOT being in the US, it's even higher for shipping. Mugs cost me like $27 (incl tax, shipping, printing fees)... so I have to charge around $30+ depending on the size and style of mug. It's kinda crazy.... AND I pay for a subscription so I get a small discount on all products. It's the shipping that kills us. Some times, shipping is MORE than the actual item!!

    Hey Alek, thanks for this very clear and useful video. That said, Printify seems really nice for a local market, for example you want to sell in the USA, you can then select the USA manufacturer, but if you want a world wide shipping, then if becomes slightly more difficult as it doesn't make sense to send products made in usa to Europe or asia, it is more risks of breaking, shipping problems, and more CO2. Am I right or is there a solution to that?

    You have given the best info i have ever found online. I have researched like a mad person and never has anyone broken pricing and profit margins with multiple PODs like you. You have motivated me to start immediately. Subscribed. GOAT 🐐!!!!!!!

    Hi, thanks for the video. How do you feel about the new partnership between Prinful and Amazon? How would Etsy stack up against Amazon as a better place to have your store? I would be interested in your thoughts.

    I really enjoyed your brilliant video. I am a newcomer to Etsy. I’m totally lost with a strategy. As a graphic designer, I can make fascinating designs for T-shirts. With regard to the fact that I am a novice in this platform and that no one seems to know my page, should I work only on T-shirts? Or can I put my designs on T-shirts, mugs, to name but a few. Thank you so much.

    I started out 9 months ago with my Etsy tshirt shop and after my research it came down to two, Printful and Printify. I ended up with Printify in the end because of the price. I thought the cut that Printful takes was a bit too high. Gelato is new to me. Thanks for this video and affirming what I had chosen myself.

      Question- when using either Printful or Printify if you get an order for T Shirts do you pay Printify or Printful 1st then they begin producing the shirts? What if you get a Big order like (50) shirts. Then you have to pay 50x (I’m guessing $8 per shirt) $400 out of pocket

    • @guyinsf
      @guyinsf 10 місяців тому +1

      @@deewitt2833 Yes they take it out of your bank account their cut but if you're selling 50 tees and their cut is $8 a shirt which means they're deducting $140 from your bank account remember you're also getting hopefully the same amount per shirt in profit so let's say at a conservative estimate of also $8 per shirt of profit. Let's also say each of your shirts is listed for $16 on your store so at 50 shirts $280 will be transferred to your bank account but yes you will get that most likely after Printify takes their cut of $140 from your bank account first. Of course I'm excluding the fees from Etsy or whatever storefront you're using but you can calculate that portion on your own.

    • @guyinsf
      @guyinsf 10 місяців тому +3

      Sorry my calculation was way off. So with 50 shirts and Printify's cut is $8 per shirt their total amount that they will charge you is $400 but hopefully you're also getting $400 in profit if you're listing the shirt at a price to give you a profit of $8 per shirt too.

    Greatly appreciate your video on this topic. I am just getting started and have been going back and forth on whether to use Printful or Printify. I am leaning heavily towards Printify as you and another YT content provider have pretty much sealed the deal for me. However, in looking at the Printify platform I am concerned about the fact that most of the US POD suppliers on there have ratings under 9%. Should this be a concern? Just curious. Thx.

    Thanks so much great video. You keep mentioning "before Etsy fees" what is that exactly? Do we have to sign up with Etsy as well? Also if I have my store connected to WIX to I have to pay a fee for WIX as well as Printify? Is Etsy a platform to use instead of WIX or would I have to use all 3 including WIX? Please Advise thanks in advance :)

    awesome video ! the only thing that killed me this whole time was the HUGE chunk they take out of the profits.. would it be easier to get your own label printer or idk how to make any of this stuff or what its called, but then even when you grow your business you would defiantly have enough money to hire people to do it when the work load grows.. i know you thought about that before yk, id loveeeee to hear your thoughts on it or what researched you tried or whatever may be the case.

      The order routing? It's usually pretty good, but honestly I try to sell within my favorite print providers. So if Monster Digital doesn't have a t-shirt color I won't sell it. I always make sure to have a good backup option too like SwiftPOD.
      When orders get routed to the Dream Junction for example, it can take them up to a couple weeks to ship out. Very bad for business

      How long did it take you to get your first sale? I’m a little head shy because on Shopify it was crickets for months. I’ve had one full page on Etsy for 2 days and my gosh is to add another page of products every 3 days. Just wondering when you think I can expect my first order. Very excited. A little nervous. 👍

    I just started my first shop on Etsy, and I've been going back and forth between Pritful and Printify, and your videos are very helpful! Since I am in Europe, shipping costs seem to be lower when using Pritful. I wonder would it be ok if I make the same product for both plattforms? Also, what profit margin you suggest? I've been reading about 40% is good?

    • @quigonjean
      @quigonjean 11 місяців тому +1

      Using both platforms on a single product will have a result of double listing product if you list them on the same store front, unless if each platforms has been authorized (by you of course) to process different design.
      When we talk about profit then it's about equity. Imagine when you charge 40% for your design on both T-shirt and fleece. That fleece is going to be very expensive, yes?

    Interesting video.
    As my concern is quality because I would try to create a "brand" more than yet another shop selling random products, which one is best in production?
    I mean for consitent quality over time.
    Thanks.
