This song has always been wonderful. It's cheerful, upbeat, and lovely. It's a happy song, Modern English :) It's a departure from the rest of their work and ended up being their most-loved song. :)
A bit poignant as well, to have lived long enough to have this as part of the 'soundtrack' of one's youth and to hear it now in the global quarantine (and chaos in the US where I am) . . .
My husband's and my song. 32 yrs of marriage (35 years of dating). We've gone through losing two children, me having a life threatening illness, medical debt, a fatal family accident, etc...but we still hold hands, check off bucket list items, AND dance to this song whenever it comes on! Thanks for creating a song that always gives us hope!!!

I worked almost 13 hours yesterday. And it's 1:30 a.m. So maybe I'm just tired and raw, but I had an unexpectedly strong emotional reaction listening this. An overwhelming feeling of simultaneous happiness and sadness that was hard to take and yet I didn't want to end. Very strange. And while I always liked the song, it was never something deep and personal to me. Until now.
I was just saying to my wife, no one has ever made a decent cover of I Melt With You. And you just proved it-only Modern English can cover Modern English.

I look back. So many of the people that were part of my fast times, are gone. It's so nice to reminisce, seeing those from that fun era that are still here, bringing back memories of better times. One of the greatest songs of all time. I first discovered this song when the movie Valley Girl came to HBO. Sometimes I would sit through that movie when it aired just so I could hear this song.

This actually seems like a punk rock beat to me but with an otherworldly uplifting love ballad as the message. Can't imagine not understanding why this was so infectious back in the day still being so today. "We were artists never dreaming we would do anything popular" only goes to show when your speaking from the heart to the heart us humans are always listening.
The first song my husband and I danced to the night we met 34 years ago. Didn't know what to do in the part with just humming, so we just stood there looking embarrassed. Gives us joy every time we hear it. Thank you for that!

So goood :) My band Rudely Interrupted covered this song, paid our royalties n released it. Our bands members live with disability, we’ve toured internationally 14 times including a United Nations performance in NYC. Love this song. Valley Girl fan too
1980s kid, "The future's open wide" indeed amherst88, this is the best song, after "In a Big Country", and many years after "Cheek to Cheek". It's everything, beautiful, romantic, energetic, just the perfect blend. I used to freak out my friends, doing the beautiful slow part at a dance, with flowing arms, and then knowing exactly when to go full-body nuts!! Still my tied favorite song to dance to "Sing, sing, sing." I think there is a lot the there that I have not metered out in my mind. Thank you Modern English, for making my youth joyful!
Let's just say the truth...this was one of the best songs of the 80's, maybe even all time.

Saw Modern English perform this in Jacksonville, FL in 1984.
Fairfax High School Class of 86...wow wow this song will be in my heart until I die...Thank you, Modern English.
I first heard the original in the 80s when watching Valley Girl and love this version more and the fun music video. Laugh every time I see this video.
Mick and Skipper, Gary feeding the ducks, Robbie reading Kubrick, Steve's vinyl collection, Daniel positively rocking, Roy working out! FABULOUS
Is this the original line up?
4 of the 5 original guys, plus 2 others.
No way that corpulent face-tatted choad trying to seduce the camera was in the original band. Right?
@@Mo_Ketchups just looked it up and somehow yes, he was their original guitarist
I love this song and the movie Valley Girl.
Everyone here is like… “ah, this reminds me of so many things in the 80s…” Well, i’m 21 and already this reminds me of so many things in the 2010s…
80s music have come across so many generations!!
You're very wise for your age😊
Tyra Onortham ☺️☺️
Kata List Productions I agree! On Robert Palmer, well, I do know him and his music, but I am really more into post-punk 😅
True!!! I listen to music way before my time and am moved.
Good music is good music - no matter what decade it is from
I have the album, 40 years old and still perfect.
How did I miss this? I was transported to my teenage years and danced like I was 17 again. Thank you for sharing this! I melted with you!
