I've been looking for this song so I can remember what a free and happy time childhood in the 80s were.
I so miss the freedom we had, the innocence, actually getting out and doing things with your friends, the girls and their innocence (what they do not have now it seems). I miss the carefree problems that we have now. I miss those friends and those carefree nights. I miss going to Denny’s for coffee and having fun, playing pool at the pool hall, getting into trouble, getting into fights… I miss my childhood, a time of growing up without a fear of a school shooting. Yea we had gangs and drugs and the such but we also had a freedom that they do not have now.
And I miss the movies, lol. God was I in love with Deborah Foreman when I watched Valley Girl.. yes, a long haired freak wearing a black leather jacket through high school, riding Harleys and having muscle cars, loving Iron Maiden and the such.. loved Valley Girl, Tuff Turf, Molly Ringwald and the such. I loved dressing up as one of the Warriors from the movie and thinking we were all so tuff, lol
I accidentally ran across this song tonight and I'm sure glad I did! It's been years since I last heard it and I made up for it by listening over and over. Now I remember what a really great song it is.

It was a huge hit in the US, on radio all the time. I'm not sure why they rerecorded it in 1990. Maybe because they had been gone for a few years? I think people tend to disregard this version but I think it's nice to hear one that's a little different than the one I've heard a billion trillion times.

Either my kids coined it or we coined it together when we were goofing off. I play violin and so even very young they heard a lot of classical music and knew Yo-Yo Ma, and maybe it was inevitable that "yo mama!" and Yo-Yo Ma would get combined. Replied To: I didn’t make it Dallas for stark club days, although I’m hella curious, but I definitely loved the Montrose district. My boyfriend and I were youngish - 17/18 - and poor like most kids, but we although we had caring parents, we didn’t have much parental supervision. Our favorite pastime was driving around late when the city was asleep, or mostly asleep. It felt like it was all ours.
