    Great info as usual. I agree with you. I put measurements in all listings because after I list I package and inventory. I feel like if someone has to ask, they may lose interest while waiting for an answer.

    Rise really depends on the size. The larger the size the longer the rise will need to be to at the same height as on a smaller size. This is very true for plus size clothing. I never put high, mid or low unless it’s on the label. So I always put the measurement in the listing and put a photo of the measurement. As a high waisted person I would rather have the actual measurement 😊

    In the 70's we had hip-huggers. There were belts that were curved to fit hip hugger pants and jeans--mostly leather and for jeans. Unless you are adequately shapely and wore a halter type top, these low rises and medium rise are not flattering. At least a bare middle would let a curve at the waistline be seen. The low rise and medium rise It gives a woman a horizontal line across her hips which accentuates them. Few women want that. Then the tops come down to the pants top making the woman look shapeless. Then there is the fashion of wearing the long top to the pants top with a shorter top/jacket over that. So there is a middle line of a different color right over the mid-section and accentuating that. Do we really want the stomach area to pop out exactly where we should have a female curve show? And it does show even in women who are far from the perfect figure. High rise right to the narrowest part of the body outline is most flattering.

    Confused (for years) about inseam measurement. Everyone says from crotch seam to hem. However, many times I come across pants that should be measured from the bottom zipper seam. Example - I’m a 30” inseam and have measured many pants that fit me and only measure 27” inseam if I measured by crotch seam. It’s that extra 3” from crotch to zipper seam that makes it fit me. I feel like I’m overlooking an obvious answer, but this can easily cause a return if you state 27” by crotch seam measurement but it’s actually a 30” inseam.

      The best advise I can give you is to request photos of the measurements if you are buying and include photos of measurements if you are selling. That way everyone knows exactly how it was measured and there is no confusion. I'm not a seamstress so I don't know how much slack there should be compared to self measurements. Hope this helps!

      Oo really smart, I find myself struggling with the same thing 😅 I believe the mentioned 3” is actually in due to the Rise measurement, in example, what rise best suits you per preference & actual sizing (I believe) based on the cloth “cut” (the style of jean I believe).

    I have one question if your waist size is 30 in low rise or any other normal jeans so in case if high rise jeans should we have to buy waist size less than 30??? Like 28 🙏 reply

    • @cayleyelaine
      @cayleyelaine  3 роки тому

      I think that depends on how your body is built. If it were me, I'd ask the seller for measurements.

    For measuring “rise” when front is lower than back, where do you take measurements?

  • @rodzillarox4882
    @rodzillarox4882 Рік тому

    So I have a question. I resell and I have some Miss Me jeans. I measured the inseam at 29” which matches the 29 printed on the waistband . What I don’t understand is why there is a tag that shows 31 “ inseam. Its confusing because i measured 29” which matches the waistband printing. So not too sure what to go with. I know you mentioned that in the video but my situation is different. Thanks for the video.

    • @cayleyelaine
      @cayleyelaine  Рік тому +1

      Is it possible they've been hemmed? I'd check to see if there's different stitching.
      If not, and it looks like they were made that way then I normally list using the tag sizes bit include measurements in photos.

    What about a brand like Hollister that states the waist size on the tag, but when I measure the waist it’s a completely different waist size?

    • @cayleyelaine
      @cayleyelaine  2 роки тому

      That's pretty common. I usually put the tag size in the title and then the measured waist size in the description.

  • @madeleine1138
    @madeleine1138 2 роки тому

    So what women's size did the tag say? We're those size 10's or 12's. Just curious. I do know because these are very high rise I have to wear a larger size in 550's plus no stretch.
    Couldn't remember if you said this. But a picture of the tag is very helpful. So, I can see garment size and content of Jean. Cotton, polyester etc. Thank you for the information. There seems to be a huge discrepancy on measurements. Ex. I wear between a 10 and 12 depending on the brand. If I used my measurements I would be looking at a size 18 or 20 per size charts. So confused. Can you help clarify that? Usually I find size 30 is a size 10 and size 32 is around a size 12 in women's. Again this varies. I find that to be most helpful to determine if it's even going to be close to fitting me. Also, thigh measurements are very helpful for women like myself who have to fit jeans for that area first and then the waist. Appreciate your help. Will look up your links.

      Hi! I'm so sorry but I made this video such a long time ago that I can't remember which size the womens jeans said they were. When I list items online I include a photo of both the tag size and a measurement to help buyers decide.
