Great punch. But maby normalize the music to you talking. Wearing headphones here, hade to punch the volume when you spoke, lost a littel hearing when the music started...
man, what an awesome use of the song "brighter than gold". i love it!!! the song is awesome! and i think that it made this already amazing video even better! i'm glad that youtube recommended me your videos. please keep up the awesome work!

Dig a smaal hole. And use a airbed blower to blow threw a piece of steel pipe. Coke.. Anthracite. charcoal. All work. (charcoal I find dosent get as hot as anthracite).
If you need a blower that doesn't use electricity, then you can make a box bellows out of wood, they work well. For an anvil you can sink the biggest sledgehammer you can find in a stump
Really glad I found your channel , love your work , good balance in your videos of chat music and sounds of your shop , just wanted to say keep up the great work and hello from Scotland 🏴
Rely enjoyed this one turned out grate not something i'll try in a hurry. wow Inotice Torbjorn Ahman better known as thunder bear in the comments good audience to have following you keep up the good work mate.
This has to be the best video yet. Super good editing and camera work. I agree with a previous comment. Someone said it hurt that you had to cut down the fuller. I don't think you needed to make a tapered fuller. Could you have just added a shim to the back of the fuller so that the power hammer pushes it as a taper? the angle will still be 60*. Please read as practical not critical. This is seriously awesome and you have the skills. Keep up the good work!
Thanks Paul! That’s a great solution. It would have worked probably very well and saved me a bunch of time too! Look forward to when we can again connect in person sometime! 😊
How about a dividing head on your mill? Start with a round bar mill a flat side to depth and index two times 120 degrees and part it of on the lathe or just saw it off with the bandsaw... If you want it tapered place the dividing head angled, your milling tale (if possible) or your milling head instead. Why not? Thank you for sharing your journey! Best, Job
I find the framing in your barn to be well done and more braces then most would do I like that and would love to carry that in my nail bag how do I get one
Man love your vids. I've been loving watching this kind of stuff.. and would really like one day to make my own knife. And I remember in one video you said you were from Canada if I remember right.
To make triangles easier, use an indexing collet vice, it allows you to hold your work like its on a lathe and change its rotational angle. You could even do the taper by moving the head. Turn it in 120 degree increments and you wouldn't even need to forge anything and would probably save time. The only time you'd need to heat it is to heat treat.
The music hurt my ears several times, and after turning the sound almost off than having to turn it up to hear you, than off to save my ears......... I finally said f... it and quit watching, and left you this little note.
Tim K. The music levels are fine in contrast to the voice audio. I dug out some $5 cheep head phones and some cheep open-air speakers to see it it made a difference for me. I fired up a laptop and tablet. All is good. Timothy Dyck videos are some of the best shot and video quality being produced. It is no surprise that the music choice and balance / quality is of professional quality. I hope you fine your problems and fix them.
@@jamesweymouth8416 Wrong, watching in the studio and the music is very bass heavy compared to the open mic, so if you are listening on tin can phones or speakers it probably sounds level if you have a system that is articulate the low end is booming at the same volume...... You should try an audio solution that is just a little better than 5 dollars....
Hi Timothy, I enjoy watching your channel and videos alot. But, why did you cut the center punch sooo short? It seems to me that a longer one would be better to hold on to when you use it? And that you don't run the risk of hitting your fingers? Lolhaha. So,thanks again for your channel and videos. I'm going to be a BLACsmith too.. I'm working on it know..you need to come..
Love the project and the video. But the audio... Speech to music ratio is waaay off. They should be rather equal because messing with volume settings every time between music and speech is horrible. I don't know if you've fixed it in your latest videos, but if you haven't, I'd appreciate it. Love the enthusiasm, love the work. Keep on doing!
That's a nice one! Hm, can I have a question? Maybe a little bit odd or some people can see it rude... Anyway- how could you afford all that stuff? I mean workshop. That mill is expensive as hell, also the hammer etc. You seem like a young guy, a little over 20 or maybe in early 30s. I'm running a blacksmith shop too, but hell... Making some real money for that kind of equipment looks hard, it's just enough to live. Please don't take it rude or something, I'm just curious. Best regards ☺️ Greg
Hey Greg, It is hard. Crazy hard, but you know that. I've been blessed to have found some amazing opportunities when it comes to the equipment etc. Don't let the highlight reel of social media be the lens that you base your view of my work. If their was just a couple words I could use to describe my blacksmithing journey they would be, starving artist and struggle with tons of hard work. If your ever in the area lets grab a cup of coffee and we can talk more in person. Cheers!
@@TimothyDyck Ah, so it's as I thought it might be. 😜 Same here, just the same. Hopefully I can afford some credit in short period of time so, I hope, I'll be able to buy a small mill and small lathe for metalwork. I wish I could visit you in your workshop and thanks for invitation, but it's half the globe away 😉 maybe some day I'll have the opportunity to go on a trip to North America so maybe then. Best wishes and keep up the great work you're doin'!
Another good looking tool. You probably could have made another bottom swage the same as the first one. Then milled down one end of the second one until you got the profile you wanted. Then just Mill down the opposite side so it would sit flat
Suppose you could always cover up the name with duct tape and keep your hands free. Thanks for showing us your work on making a triangular throwing spike that you'll use as a center punch. Never seen one in that shape.
could you make u yakute-knife? you know those really cool eskimoknifes rounded, would be cool if you incoprorated some of your old tradition :) sami / sweden into it ;)
Re your hoody and not wanting to show the logo, as long as you say you aren't sponsored by the person, there aren't any issues. It's the same as all of your powered machinery, you don't have to cover the names on those because people know you aren't sponsored by them. If you want to, just say you aren't sponsored by him but you love his work and give a link to his UA-cam and just say "check him out" and finish with a reminder that you aren't sponsored. Unless, of course, he's actually said not to show his logo...... then you're in trouble LOL

Im ignorant, but i dont understand the issue with having brand names in your video. Just say its not sponsored by them, and go with your day. Why the need to cover it up?
Brands will sometimes steal images of people wearing their stuff and use it for advertising without their consent. It sucks, but it happens and he's covering it to prevent that.
music is horrible, is the guy that looks like Freddy Kruger, the blacksmith? got tired of the music and adjusting my volume up and down. Like if you would rather just hear the sounds of the forge. "clink, clink, clink"

I liked the music and the video project is really cool. 👍🏾
Is the punch mark found advantageous in preventing drill wandering? And just how is the mark to work with? I love my diamond punch.

Shure but the goal was to forge it completely so he needed a tool to forge it
We put up with the silliness but don’t get to se the punch at work.
I was looking forward to seeing the triangular dimple. Sigh.....

It really hurt when you cut down the fuller, but i love that tapered swage. Great video.
