Its allways good to listen and learn from an actual professional there are far to many duds on here blind leading the blind never ends well your uploads are allways much appreciated and u are never a tight ass with your tricks of the trade so great full 1 thumbs up never feels like enough gratitude so thank you so very much
Love your videos Tim! You alter from good functional tooling and basic blacksmithing skill building to the totally ridiculous like the giant chain mail! They never get boring! Great work mate!
Just as everyone else..... wow... loved the ingenious solution to quickly straightening that coil. I was thinking about using and anvil and a hammer. I was scratching my head when he started up the tractor. My question is... be honest... whose idea was it? Or where did you get that idea?
I've got a few springs that i've been wondering how to work with. Heat and straighten with a hammer and bending jig? But that way it brilliant! I wonder if my lawn mower would do it? The springs i have are 8in by 3in and about 1/4in diameter. I bet my mower would work for those, haha.
I love the tutorial-ness. When my life settles down a bit, I want to take up blacksmithing as a hobby and love any bit of knowledge I can get from the masters.
I ran across you around 10k subs. At that time I couldn’t imagine why you aren’t more widely appreciated. Your craftsmanship is above par, your demeanor is so enjoyably. I am thankful for your hard work on sharing your craftsmanship. You deserve to be recognized as a master in the making. Thank you.
I’m with you. He should have way more subs. No idea why he doesn’t. People subscribe to stupid funny videos. But to me this kind of videos are entertaining to me, and I’m not the only one
Make punches, sell them cheap enough where people will buy them, but enough to also make you money to support the channel. Great work. Love your attitude. Always joyful to watch. Hello from upstate NY.
I love the video with all your explanations. You should do more of those tutorial like videos discussing the tools, techniques and caveats along the way while making something.
Another great video Tim, really like the punch that makes it look like a round piece in a square bar. Also loved the way that you straightened the coil spring.
Once youtube recommended your channel i was hooked. You are now my favorite yt'r love how you present all of your vid's keep doing your thing. IT IS AWESOME 👌 !
Ok now that was neat! Love how you straightened out that old coil spring! Also love how you made up that center punch. It really does look like you have a piece of round stock going thru some square stock
i like your videos more and more, not only are you an exceptional backsmith u also are a very nice movie maker. watching you making that center punch is amazing
Auction the axe through eBay to get around raffling, or get a raffle license for future projects. Raffle licenses are quite easy and cheap here in Atlantic Canada (I'm in New Brunswick), but I don't know how it would work in BC. Patreon is a good idea for your channel.
Love your video's. Been lurking for a while. That power hammer is some tool, wow. Love the sound it makes. So solid. Your comments along each project are really nice as well. PS: I'm a computer engineer. Your video's have literally nothing to do with what I do, but I still keep coming back for more. Weird!
Just set up a patreon brother. If shady hollywood types can get paid to entertain, then certainly an upstanding, humble, awesome teacher like you can get paid! Support from Toronto bro! ✊🏻🇨🇦. Its either that or I'm gonna have to buy 10 of your hoodies 😁.
For raffles in Canada you just have to ask the winner a math question. It turns it from a game of chance to one of skill. So whoever wins it, just make them correctly answer a math question like, "What is 4*5 +10 -5 = " and it becomes a skill game and not a game of chance or gambling.
Dude, when I saw the title I thought you were going to try to coil springs inside each other and forge weld it into the stock you needed. I’m glad you took a break from the impossible (though it never stopped you before).
That's awesome, the punch you made for the effect as well. As always great work. Hope you do decide to make a Patreon account, think everyone would like to help out and see more of you guys. Anyway, keep up the good work bud! Sick hoody as well haha
Those ti hammers look buttery AF! I was skeptical when I saw you made hammers out of ti because of the lightness of the material but hotdamn they look like they work great
That punch is so cool..... so is your way of un-coiling coil springs!!! Re Patrion, try looking at it from the side of a customer who loves what you do and would like to support your work. Normally they could do this by purchasing things you make, which would support your buisness. But if the can't afford an axe, they may be a bit stuck. Patrion allows people gives them the ability to help you to spend more time to spend doing video's. If you still don't like this try looking at what you could provide your Patrons...... e.g. early access to video's, goody bags that could have things that you won't be selling on the open market (classic blacksmith give away is something like a bottle opener designed specifically for your Patrons), goody bags with logo stickers, etc. I hope this helps your thinking process 👍
If you sell stickers and there happens to be a free draw that said sticker buyers are entered in . It may work. I’ve bought a mini knife and won a free ice hut once. Best $20 keychain knife ever! Seems to work all over in Ontario. BTW, love the tractor idea!
I believe if you sell stickers or business cards for “x” and add names in a “draw/giveaway” that doesn’t require a purchase, you’d be good. Worth a look, anyway 👍🏻 Keep up the great content!
ha tim you forgot to mention something really important, ive seen youve done it to the center punch, but you have to round over the striking surface to prevent mushrooming it over time. i've missed that step on a punch i made and it looked horrible after a year :D i like the detail with the custom form tools, it looks really unique, almost too good to use it
The first 30 seconds was brilliant!
Agreed!
That blew my mind
Sooo cool!
As was the rest! This is not a detraction but a testament to great video making!
@@jazzyjay1150 Absolutely!
I'm only 30 second in and that's one of the most brilliant tricks!
I thought the same thing,it worked well
That's cheating. Lol
Seconds in, I’m super impressed that straightening worked so well!
*THAT’S HOW YOU STRAIGHTEN A COIL SPRING!*
The pitch that the ti Hammer makes hitting the metal bat and then the anvil just gets me every time dude
Backyard ingenuity. I love it. Who needs fancy tools. There's a reason tractors are still around. Love your channel.
Thank you for demonstrating that there's no reason a simple, utilitarian tool can't be nice to look at and more comfortable in the hand. Love it.
God damn you I spent hours hammering out my Springs and you just do it in a few seconds Bravo
That is the best coil spring straightening method I've ever seen!

Tim "Big Brain" Dyck
Ken's custom Iron did this in 2016. ua-cam.com/video/3jIpzjIlWvY/v-deo.html
@@mossyhollow3732 just watched that video. Now makes me wonder when was the first person to do this? Had to be done as soon as tractors came about.
I have seen coilspings beeing pulled straight by hand.. firxed steel post and the smith pulling/Walking away pulling with tongs..
I really enjoy these more tutorial type videos that you make. You're really a great teacher!
Tim, 0:20 was epic! Go big or go home. Love it!
It's so satisfying to watch the power hammer when he really gives it the beans and digs into a part. Awesome power to behold
Ingenious way to straighten a spring! Love it!
This is by far the coolest way to get a spring straight. Nice man.
When you drop a workpiece at the anvil it is called "drop forging!" Thanks for your entertaining and ground breaking videos.
I love the tutorial-ness. When my life settles down a bit, I want to take up blacksmithing as a hobby and love any bit of knowledge I can get from the masters.

Fantastic videos. My Dad was a Blacksmith when I was a young lad about 54 years ago
You sir get a solid thumbs up for me for simply unwinding that spring like that

Love this straightening technique.... even the smartest engineers could not even phantom this method....cheers
Jeez, that was great. I love innovative ways of doing things and I’ve never seen someone straighten a spring like that. Fantastic!
i like your videos more and more,
not only are you an exceptional backsmith u also are a very nice movie maker.
watching you making that center punch is amazing
Hey there, Tim.
That textured look you've got on there ALWAYS looks better than something ground smooth.
Cool idea. Looks great. Thanks for the vid.
That was a genius idea to straighten out that coil!!! Blew my mind! lol
That was the most brilliant method to uncoil a hot spring I have seen to date.😁👍
thank you for doing more projects with materials everyone can easily get there hands on! this is definitely gonna be something, I'll make!!!
The power hammer upsets like a beast. Cool punch.
Best use for a tractor that I've ever seen!
I love all the tutorial-ing you do!
Awesome straightening!!!
You’ve got a great attitude
Fun to watch
Love the tutorial! There's so much technique that is invisible to someone watching who doesn't know anything about forging.
Undoing the spring with the Traktor? Awesome! 👍👍👍
I love it brother. Keep em comin😁.
Love the videos. Great way to straighten that steel in the beginning. Right tool for the right job! Brains over brawn.

Looks really cool.. I don't remember seeing that technique before.. great job!
Love watching you upset metal seeing you do it in mostly one heat just by keeping it moving regenerating its own heat is amazing love it

Wow! That was really smart how you

Genius idea with that tractor!
I love the color of the titanium hammer!super dope dude!

Great work at the power hammer.✌
Well - best way ever seen of unrolling the coil spring 😆
You did great. Thank you for these vids.
Excellent job great technique thanks for sharing!
Well that's about the coolest thing I've ever seen. I did not think you were going that way when you started the tractor lol
Dude, when I saw the title I thought you were going to try to coil springs inside each other and forge weld it into the stock you needed. I’m glad you took a break from the impossible (though it never stopped you before).
Also, I love the semi-tutorial. Very interesting
Really enjoyed this one, thanks Tim.
Holy hell, I love farm technology!
Very cool. Such an amazing art.
Unrolling the spring worked so easy I would have been worried about the rest of the project
39 seconds in to the video and I had to push pause on the video just to comment on how beautiful that was I’m straightening out that coil spring.
Coil straightening life hack just made my day and causes immediate "like" :D
Dam that spring was really long unwound!
Tim, please don’t stop the jabbering or cut it out of the videos. Pick up so many little tips and tricks from your jabbering! Love the content!

Awesome way to roll out that spaghetti 🍝😅
So that's how round-stock gets made!
That titanium hammer has more sound you can hear how hard you're hitting and how the metal is reacting.
Another fantastic video loving it well done TD.👍🇬🇧🤘🔪
30 seconds in and I love it already!
Always love it Tim! Jabber or not.
Cant wait to read all the saftey sally comments about that ingenious coil spring straightening bit.
You did it again !
100 Punkte für den Traktor Tipp

I originally watched the making of the hammer.
I'm looking forward to the review
