One of the hallmarks of Catholic Christianity is that it isn't based on criticism of another belief. Ours is an _entirely affirmative_ creed: we affirm 'one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.'
Protestantism is not based on criticism of Catholic Christianity. It's actually based on Biblical Christianity. Catholic Christianity, on the other hand, is based on criticism of Biblical Christianity.

Well you know, I think there are a couple things in play. I can say when I was a conservative protestant Christian, there is a lot of hostility towards the catholic church and Roman catholicism as a whole. Protestant parishioners are basically told that the catholics do all sorts of bizarre rituals and they believe lots of silly things that are not spoken of in scripture or history, and in some cases the catholic beliefs is directly opposed to what the Bible clearly says. Protestants aren't told the catholic view or an explanation as to why they have the rituals they have and why they believe certain things that protestantism would condemn as false doctrines. So the catholic church has these bizarre practices and strange beliefs and they don't have any legitimate reason for any of it. As I got older I began to look into the why, can there be a plausibly good reason for this? I have to say I was surprised to find that the church has heard these complaints and objections and has given many of them a rational and reasonable explanation.
Dr. James White is as Protestant and antiCatholic as they come. He's a brilliant guy, no doubt. Completely agree with the idea that once Protestants latch on to a particular doctrine they tend to center a denomination around it and take it to the extreme. This is where so many errors come into the picture. I grew up in Pentecostal churches but also had my share of experiences in the Presbyterian and baptist worlds. Some denominations will focus on the omniscience of God and then start believing strongly in double predestination. The charismatic realm can get focused on the providence of God and then within a few years they start thinking if you’re not blessed all the time and if you face difficulties you must have secret sin. One camp thinks if you don’t get healed it’s because you didn’t have enough faith. The other camp thinks God does absolutely no Miracles at all since the closure of the biblical canon. These camps I think have many aspects of their theology correct but ultimately end up in significant error. I have found so much balance within the Catholic Church. It is refreshing to find the One true church that had balanced these many doctrines through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is why sola scriptura is non-sensical. Scripture is half of the weaponry God has equipped us with. It’s like fighting with one hand tied behind your back. We need the Word of God and the Holy Spirit - yes, working in our hearts and minds individually- but also in a significant way working through the magisterium of the church given through the apostles to us today.

@@bluecollarcatholic8173 Thanks brother. You are too kind. In general, Protestant theologians understand apostolicity to refer to the church’s focus on preaching, hearing, believing, and obeying the teachings of the apostles, written down in the canonical New Testament writings. Promised the guidance of the Holy Spirit for this very task, the apostles’ memories were aided by the Spirit as they wrote, rendering them and their writings bona fide witnesses of Jesus Christ (John 14:26). Importantly, the apostle Peter himself underscores the manner in which he sought to ensure that the teachings that he had received from Christ would be transmitted to the church after his death (“departure”): Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things. (2 Pet. 1:12-15) Following this point, Peter explains that as an eyewitness of Jesus Christ’s glory on the Mount of Transfiguration, he heard the very voice of God the Father commending his Son (vv. 16-18). Amazingly, however, Peter professes that “we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed” and discourses on the written Word of God, the product of the biblical authors being moved by the Holy Spirit (vv. 19-21). If he, as the chief apostle, considered Scripture to be the sure, divine instruction for the church in the post-apostolic era, it is hard to see how apostolic succession could add to this already-certain foundation. Accordingly, this understanding embraces apostolicity as the logocentricity, or Word-centeredness, of the church that is focused on the writings of the apostles.
Many miss. The starting place is the Old Testament for apostolic succession. You have to admit Joshua had divine intercession through the laying of hands from Moses. Because it says it in the Bible explicitly
The Pharisees sat on the seat of Moses as teaching authority, yet they could not match jesus insights into the complexity of the human psyche. Consider gospel of John chapter 9: 1-2. The man born blind. Was it his sin or his parents. Original sin dogma by apologetics, jesus flatly discounted both claims.
I came to this video thinking it would convince me to become catholic But all it was, was a guy explaining why Catholicism made sense to him but not actually giving any reasons to believe it.
Yes Apostasy is turning away from the Faith taught by Jesus and his Apostles . When these Bible Scholars realize how far Protestants have gone from the teachings of Jesus, they come back to the Church Jesus started. The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church! Amen. Peace be with you
I see this scholar and I think he is not arrogant at all (and very articulated). And God reveals to humble people but humble is not synonimous of ignorant. That's a false premise. I know very intelligent people and most of them are humble and charming. A lot of mediocre people are arrogant
why catholic? why not say "be a follower of Christ?" i dont think there's anything about "denomination" in the bible. Its either u follow Jesus, or you don't. Denomination means nothing in God's kingdom.
You are right. The Bible doesn’t talk about denominations . Jesus talks about his Church He started Matthew 16:18-19. The Apostles talk about the Church Jesus started 1 Timothy 3:15 . Denominations are all man made . The Catholic Church was made by Jesus. All the denominations broke away to follow different mens teachings. You may say “ I follow the Bible “. It was the Church that Jesus started ( the Catholic Church) that decided which books would be in the Bible, at the Councils of Rome 382AD, Hippo 393 AD, and Carthage 397 and 419 AD. Jesus said, Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood will have eternal life . Man made denominations today deny this fundamental teaching of Christ. Which all Christians believed up to and including Luther .
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 hmm. I see. But from what I understand. Most people follow the church more than they follow what was taught in the Bible. Some people even go too far on saying which denomination is more correct, more superior. In Matthew 16:18-19, Jesus only said, on this rock, I will build my church. The foundation is Christ Himself. Most Christians nowadays took shortcuts in following ways of the church, but not reading for themselves the actual way which Jesus taught. When a church goes wrong, their followers will go wrong too. That's why making sure each and everyone's foundation is strong and solid enough is important, rather than saying which denomination is greater and so on. There's a reason why Jesus said only a few seek the narrow path, most people go for broad gate that leads to destruction.
@@bugatti99vun And I tell YOU , YOU are Peter ( translated Rock ), and on this Rock ( Peter ) I will build MY Church, and the gates of Hell will not prevail. I will give YOU the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven ( Christ's Authority ) and whatever YOU bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and whatever YOU loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven ( again he's given Peter the Rock his authority until he returns ) Matthew 16: 18-19. You and I wouldn't even know the Gospel of Matthew existed if the Catholic Church didn't decide to include it in the Cannon of Scripture. The Catholic Church using the authority given to her by Christ. Decided which books would be in the Bible at the council of Rome 382 A.D. . The Church re-affirmed her decision at the councils of Hippo 393 A.D. and the Council of Carthage 397 and 419 A.D. . These are Historical Facts. So if you choose your own way instead of the Church who Jesus gave authority to. You are leaving the narrow road. You are Protesting the Pillar of truth 1 Timothy 3:15. You are Protestant .
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 wew. I forgot to reply you. The YOU means Peter. Who's Peter? The apostle of Christ. He's given him the key, the authority to preach, to save ppls souls. Yes. But, does that mean ppl that comes after Peter all have the same authority given by Christ? Its just like, oh, I'm a Jew, so I'm fine, I'll go to heaven because my family believes in the Lord. U and I know it's NOT. Bloodline nor lineage doesn't mean a thing before God. The bible says you shall all workout your OWN salvation. You and God are 1 to 1 relationship. It doesn't matter if you go to church with full attendance, nor do this and that with flying colors. That's works. For we are saved by GRACE thru faith, not by works. So that we may not boast based on our own works that we are saved. If you have the spiritual eyes and ears, you'll know how to differentiate what is Godly, and what is not. Catholics focus too much on tradition, that they neglect the important essence of being a follower of Christ, which is call "REPENTANCE". yeah it's not wrong to follow passed down tradition and all, but God favors your heart rather than TRADITION. Is your heart really for God while doing those rituals? U know, and God definitely knows. I'm reminding you as your friendly brother in Christ, lose the denomination thing, don't ever feel your church is more superior nor more "right" or more "original" than others, coz there is NO denomination in God's kingdom. I haven't even really pointed out to you what's wrong with Catholics nowadays. I would if you want to. Don't be Pharisees (who knows all the law and traditions) but do not obey, nor be genuine in what they do.
I think its ironic Beaumont thinks protestants are wrong and it matters....but when Eastern orthodox point out the same about Catholics suddenly the excuse is what's the big deal, the differences don't matter 🙄. Why the double standard? Seems very hypocritical to me 🤷🏻♂️
Eastern Orthodox and Protestants don’t point out the same things . Eastern Orthodox believe in the Real Presence , Have Apostolic Succession , have the same Sacraments as Catholics and believe Apostolic Tradition. The differences are minor compared to Protestants. In my opinion they are political not theological.
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 Nope they are not political, there are theological differences, the double procession is heretical & so is Thomistic divine simplicity.
Because apostasy is a thing
Yes Apostasy is turning away from the Faith taught by Jesus and his Apostles . When these Bible Scholars realize how far Protestants have gone from the teachings of Jesus, they come back to the Church Jesus started. The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church! Amen. Peace be with you
because god has decided to hide it from the humble and reveal it to the wise and learned ?
Many people are converting. All races, nationalities, walks of faith, levels of education, etc.
I see this scholar and I think he is not arrogant at all (and very articulated). And God reveals to humble people but humble is not synonimous of ignorant. That's a false premise. I know very intelligent people and most of them are humble and charming. A lot of mediocre people are arrogant
@@Fasolislithuan This is very true.
why catholic? why not say "be a follower of Christ?" i dont think there's anything about "denomination" in the bible.
@@bluecollarcatholic8173 Me and my Bible Christianity is unscriptural, btw. ❤️🙏❤️
@@bluecollarcatholic8173
Nope they are not political, there are theological differences, the double procession is heretical & so is Thomistic divine simplicity. I would expect a theologian like Dr Beaumont to be able to grasp that.
Anyway thanks for replying & keep up the good work on the politics about abortion etc, right there with you on that one brother
I think it is 1453 RIP
