Can life be fulfilling when desires are smashed? Can an artist call herself one without any tangible work? Azizkhani’s second feature touches on these questions by showcasing a slice of Hanieh’s life-main character, someone whose talent can not be actualized and be seen. It could be the challenge of any artist whose dreams hit the reality wall and alternatives are not as appealing to say the least. Feminist cinema of Iran and a realistic dose of goes behind the scene of artistic life in Iran are evident in the film. As the saying goes it takes a whole village to raise a child, but can the current landscape of cinema in Iran and limits in Iranian women’s life permit such cinematic recuperation.
