My Yiayia was from Tripoli, Arcadia, in the Peloponnese. She was an amazing cook- you remind me of the amazing natural talent and love it takes to make these delicious traditional Greek foods.
It’s so amazing how much more I can understand Greek mothers better than modern Greek speakers idk maybe because both Aussie and american greeks speak a similar dialect more slowly idk but his was awesome thank you
Very old song because I was a kid and sang to it. Also my stuffed veggies including potatoes are roasting in the oven. I throw in potatoes between veggies to fill gaps. I used Krokkos Saffron from Greece to precook my rice because it always comes out crunchy but this time, I precooked. Yasou Metera Niki Bravo very very nice recipe. I am in Pennsylvania USA my family came from Sparta and Athens. Same background small village only big city NYC Brookyn. My yiayia was over one hundred years old. We lived with them when my mom and dads apartment burned down and I learned everything I love about being Greek from my yiayia. Trahana, grapeleaves, halva, bougatsa is a new lesson, lovely to eat. I've watched several videos about making gemista, and every cook prepares the filling a bit differently. Mama Niki seems to be a very sweet lady. Lucky you.

My father was born in that area at the end of Ottoman time. Most of our people left for USA, Canada or Australia. Thanks for an excellent recipe…
