      good recipe.. here's a tip.. instead of adding water at the end.. use V8 juice.. just a little can. It makes a great juice to pour over the pepper.

      Chritos Christodoulou It is a canned raw juice consisting of 8 types of vegetables. You will find it on Google.

      Love Gemistes, like you said especially when tomatoes are in season. My mother taught me to prepare them. One small difference, after stuffing the veggies, she sprinkles about a half teaspoon of grated Kefalotiri on the stuffing mix. Also, save some room in your baking pan for slices of zucchini squash.

      Christos Christodoulou it is vegetable juice. You can use tomato juice too..

    Yassou Aki. The problem with your videos is that when I watch them I "drool" and I get dangerously hungry. I just got me some peppers to do "Gemista". Every year, in March, when the peppers are in season here in New Zealand, I cook batches of "Gemista" and freeze them individually. I eat them throughout the year when I can't be bothered to cook. Today, I'll try to cook them your way. Efxaristo re manga.

    When I was in crete last year I absolutely loved the papoutzaki (if that is how you spell it)! That thing was amazing!

    I just made this and it’s so delicious, I’ve used a pack of herbs special for this recipe from Greece, I had a very good time there, I’d come back anytime, lovely country with amazing people and fantastic food 🤤🏛🇬🇷

    Akis, this recipe brought me back to when I was little, my grandmother and I use to make stuff tomatoes all the time, it was a little different than your recipe, but very very tasty as well. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us, which brought me back to many beautiful childhood memories, which it seem I had forgotten all about. God bless!!!! 😊👍

    In Egypt we stuff veggies with rice only most of the time but sometimes we add ground beef like this recipe, famous stuffed veggies in Egypt are small eggplant, zucchini, grape leaves and cabbage

    Great recipe Akis! Gemista is one of the most beautifully flavoured dishes I have ever tried. One of my favourite Greek dishes for sure, but to be honest, I've never had bad Greek food :) It's a healthy meal too just like you said Akis. Good fat from Greek olive oil (the secret of life) and protein from the meat. Mediterranean cuisine at it's very best 😎😎😎

    Just made these today. Absolutely delicious! Halved the recipe to make two batches: one with beef mince and one with Quorn chicken pieces. My family and I ate them all up. So reminded us of our first Greek stuffed peppers experience in a restaurant in Fira, Santorini (Thank you, restaurant I can’t remember the name for). Thank you for sharing this recipe!

    Personally I did not like the taste

      He says risotto rice so arborio should work, for example.
