True, I have a round face shape but bands work for me because I have a big forehead, dark hair, green eyes and a longer straight nose. Bangs don't make my face look too round.
Carrie Lynn. Bad, thaz just bad. I'm 61, I love it. I want to mess with bangs just a little, but NOT for lack of botox. Yuck, it is what you're suggesting that is fatal - for anybody, imo.
Carrie Lynn Haha I always say it’s bangs or botox. 59 in 2 weeks. My 11s are becoming an M (which is the first initial of my husband’s name... coincidence? I think not).
Luna well my mom says that I have an oval face lmao (she’s an artist so she would know I guess) but I think I have like a oval/square face??? Idk, it looks good tho
When I lived in Spain they do amazing bangs there. But here in the states, it doesn't seem that stylists can cut bangs as well, probably because they aren't as common here as they are in Spain.
Yes! I have brought the photo of the Brunette with the beautiful side-bang that Sylvia showed as a demo, in to so many haircuts and they just don't come out right. Never cut deep enough, and cut too short, not enough tapering, etc. I know they won't be exact, but it's just so frustrating when it's never even close!
I know there are a lot of bangs to cover, but I do wish you would have covered Bettie bangs. Personally, I think they're super iconic and add a sense of timelessness to any look.

janet williams I agree! Maybe mentioning something about width across the face as well, please, and other small details?? My personal fave bangs are curved/tapered (longer towards the outside) however I’ve noticed that I really don’t suit it when the curve is narrow and look much better with wider, shorter bangs, as narrow makes my already wide round face look even wider.
I cut my own bangs, too. Just my bangs - different styles lol. My hairdresser knows that's forbidden zone ;) My bangs are only my job lol. (: Btw, I love Silvia, too and her videos. She's so beautiful inside and out. When I saw her 1st time, I was like: Is this Shakira?! Cheers =)
The microbangs can work well with uneven proportions > my forehead is really short in proportion and the microbangs have successfully evened that out for me. I had the microbangs with long, one-legth hair and now with a short and classic bobcut. With long hair, it is definetly more of a quirky style. With the bob i feel it looks more classic. Maitenance is so so - easy to cut yourself because you can use clippers but you do need to cut it more often as growing out shows instantly. It takes a bit to find that perfect lengths. If it's too long, it'll look unintentional - if it's too short, that's when edgy territory begins... You cannot pin it easily though, so if you hate it - you have to rock it for a while. Also people do feel entitled to all sorts of comparisons. Another downside, it doesn't look that flattering with hats.
life 1991 I cut my own hair but bangs are a different story.. whenever I cut my bangs at home, it never turns out right -.- I have to get bangs done at the salon but it's rly worth it and getting just bangs done usually costs rly cheap
bobi ll used to be like you but after a couple years of trying to do them and messing with them myself I finally was able to do them right and I haven't gone to a saloon since a year and half :)
@@pinkelefant4ever I'm 14 and I've cut my own hair (chopped off a foot) and given myself bangs. I think it depends on the person. My hair is fine and no, nobody can tell I did it myself. Maybe it's my Calling to cut hair, but it didn't turn out bad at all.
One thing I've noticed, is that the more symmetrical and stronger the facial features are, the more one can rock a strong bang look. With soft features, strong bangs are way too overpowering.
I've had both microbangs and v-bangs, and I looooved them. My issue is that my hair is thick and wavy, and it grows so fast. It's just an overall struggle for me, but I never learn and I always end up getting them again.
Hi. 1st. Sorry 4 my poor English =) I also like myself with microbangs, ONLY when my hair is dark! And I don't allow hairdresser to touch them lol. I always cut my bangs- myself. V-bangs are more complicated, but microbangs are so much easier.=) Try! I also have thick hair and it's wavy, too. Cheers =)
I think I have micro bangs, tho it is a little longer then on the girls in the picture. But I don’t see short fringes as edgy, yes edgy girls have micro bangs but it is also vintage bangs like 1950’s or 60’s style. Also it is quite childlike sense a lot of little girls have short fringes. So micro bangs I think fits if you like vintage style fashion and or is a little childlike, like me.
i got micro bangs a little above my eyebrow bcos i have a pretty small forehead. best decision for me cos it's outta my eyes but also sooo pretty. i also have face framing sides that compliment it so much and honestly would recommend if u want smth quite easy to take care of and yes i don't think it's edgy especially with my style of clothing. it is very 50s and 60s for me and that's why i got it😂
I had V bangs for years in my late teens and loved them. I always got a lot of compliments on them. I miss them, but they were definitely work because of the natural texture of my bangs is curly.
ABSOLUTELY NO HATE, AMAZING VIDEO, TWO THUMBS UP FROM US, YOU SEEM LIKE A VERY NICE WOMAN i woke up to my friend laughing this morning and literally tears streaming from her eyes. she saw i was staring at her, obviously confused, so she called me over. she’s been thinking about getting bangs for a while and was watching these kinds of videos all day. very helpful video btw!! so she called me over and barely could talk through her laughs. she just pointed to the name of your channel and just looked at me with mascara running down her face and said in a very soft voice “ellebangs” and broke into laughter. she’s currently still laughing and now i am too. im so sorry.
Nicole Suydam Pins and clips are your best friend. I grew mine out, I'd style half up and down to keep those short sides away and grow without damage - stop bleach/tint if you can on your top layers.
can you show how to style shaggy bangs? that's what I have right now and I've been struggling to get them to look right. like you said they tend to end up looking like regular straight across bangs
The funny thing is that I hate myself WITHOUT a fringe. I have always had one excepting a few times, and I have so many baby hairs and a cowlick that makes no fringe impossible
1:18 exactly what I am going through / went through a lot of times and what you said at the end made it clear for me. Plus I have wvy hair and don't want to be surprised every single time if they are right or not
Great video! Another good question to consider is "Do you wear hats?" I have micro bangs and I love wearing hats. I usually have to pin them to the side on a day when I decide to wear a hat. And thanks for mentioning that micro bangs can be difficult if you have a cowlick. I have both a cowlick and a widows peak and I only trust one stylist who's done my bangs the last 8 years! She knows how to work with my unique hairline. Bangs are awesome!
I was bored with my hair and I never liked my bangs in the past. Well, I have lots of new growth and decided to cut bangs. I left them longer than usual and after watching this blog, I thought no now the hair is gone. I had them straight down. Having more info for round faces, which is me, they are long enough to make the side swoop. This was good info, thank you for posting.
Faea Quantum They're called wispy bangs. I think because the forehead is still showing, people with rounder faces can still pull it off. I personally love the look! I have an oval face with large forehead and it looks great. I only style it by putting rollers in them while doing my makeup
This was so helpful! Thank you so much! I went into this thinking there were 2 kinds, and that I should do them even though I hate the maintenance bc my forehead is so long. I came out of this going, "Oh! I have options! And I think I'm gonna go for sideswept, bc she's right. Every time I cut bangs I hate them. I just thought that would magically change." So thank you!
Please also make a Video which includes recommended bangs for a big or high forehead. The full version doesn’t work because I have a square face. Side doesn’t work either because of the high forehead - I have done a big open triangle, which looks strange. Happy for any tips. 😊 (Non native speaker)
I don’t have to style my bangs, I don’t get when people say they’re high maintenance. They really aren’t. The only time I do have to restyle them is when I have a “rough” sleep, as in moving around a lot and sleep for a long time and wake up with crazzzy bed head
Side bangs may flatter most but definitely NOT me. I've been trying to get the right bangs for literally 10 years (had them years ago, seems no one can do them now, even the stylist who originally cut them for me). Every stylist want to give me side bangs for some crazy reasons, even when I implore them not to. Frustrating, since my hair is my thing!
That's why, my hair stylist NEVER touch my bangs. She knows I don't allow that :) Only my hair is her job. The bangs are my job lol. I cut my own bangs, always! Only I have that privilege, coz I know what I want lol ! Cheers =)
Great video! I wish I’d seen this before I had my bangs cut in! I chose mono in the end, it worked out well, but I spent a lot of time researching how it might look!
I have a cowlick and a widows peak and have had short, blunt bangs for yearssss. Never had to use hair product to keep them down. Just a blow dryer. :)
Ugh I can’t live without my bangs! I’ve had my straight across bangs for about sixteen years. When I cut my hair in a pixie I didn’t have them anymore and I felt so LOST. They’re a part of me. 😂
Great video. I'm debating going bangs again. I love them and I've had all these styles but the V bang... I would love a video on how to cut the different bang styles too!!
When I was younger I’d get bangs and absolutely hate them. Recently I got them again hoping I’d like them, and I actually do!! I think when people are younger they tend to not know how to take care of their hair very well and can make them nervous to get them again when they’re older. I think if the only time someone had bangs was when they were a kid and hated them, they have a pretty good chance of liking them when they’re more grown up.
Round face, mod bangs here. I think you're definitely right that it's a risk. I absolutely love the look, especially because of the particular shape of my head. This was a wonderful video, thank you
I love my bangs but I always can't decide on mob bangs or side swept bangs it depends on the day. I just cut my side swept bangs into mob bangs cause I was super impulsive that day so back on the endless bang cycle I go.
Forgot about the Bettie Page bang which I dont necessarily consider in the Mod category since it is a pretty noticeable kind of bang style... but thats just me. I think I need to do the V bang now since I've had every other one.
Great video Elle! It will help me explain what i want to my hairstylist. You look beautiful, as always. Did you ever rock bangs? If so, what style? (Only because I look up to you)😊
Loved this video. I have a quick question. Do you think that people with a cowlick in the front of the hair could pull-off/have shaggy bangs? I love my short hair, but I want a bit more of edge to it, so this video inspired me to look into shaggy bangs/shaggy haird cut too. Thank you
Thanks for uploading this. I've been searching for videos like this and was brought to your channel. I enjoyed your explanations, images and details on face shapes. New subscriber!
Depends on what kind of side swept, some are out of style, but I think the shorter side swept are kinda in right now! Do you, girl! Who knows, maybe you’d start a trend!
Just came upon your channel and I’m loving it! I have bangs and they really are a lifestyle lmao I have to get my bangs trimmed every 2 or 3 weeks, but I love my bangs!
I have the first one and I love them so much, I mean I've had bangs since I was really little but when I was a preteen I got the sideswept emo style bangs and covered my eyes and stuck with them for a long time until i recently got my original bangs back and they're great. I have a heart shaped face but I find they suit me well. Hope you all have good luck with your bangs!
It's difficult it depends on the cowlick. Some cowlicks are just so strong that bangs is just not really an option And in extreme "you really really really want bangs" cases, people shave the cowlick of and put bangs over to cover it but I'm really not a fan of those :D
I have a square-ish face and i have bangs plus I have a large forehead as well. so Even though my face is square i prefer the tradistional bangs (first one) since i feel that anything Else would make my forehead look Even larger 👀
My hairdresser keeps cutting my bangs, but when I am messing with my hair or brushing it, I realize there's always long pieces in with the short pieces. I don't know why this keeps happening.
i'm one of those people who LOVE microbangs and i will always try to get bangs even though i always regret it too, but i'm gonna really try to just accept the bangs and make it my own. i think it's mostly because i'm so not used to it :')
I had bangs when i was 10 years old and i totally hated it, i had bangs again when i was like 16 years old and again i totally hated it, but now im almost 19 and i got bangs like 2 months ago and i absolutelly luuv them, i recommed starting with a beneath the eyes length and with not that much of hair just for trying so you can see if you like them, i started with bangs with these characteristics, currently i have baby bangs so...
I've had bangs my entire life but it's the long bangs that are past my eyes .like down to my cheek bone ..I can't be without them .. Lol I think it's my face for sure as to why I have to have them I guess you can say it's the side swept bangs technically! I love your hair and wish I could wear my hair like yours it's gorgeous and so are you as always !!
I recently got curtain bangs (same as 70s bangs?) and I'm so happy with that decision. I have a square face and always hated my hairline, but the bangs are covering it so well! My hair grows extremly fast thought ,so hope I can trim them myself soon :)
Silvia, can you do a video on your experience with American beauty star? I was so excited to watch you on the show and after you left, I had no more reasons to watch it 😭
P.S. Have you ever found any REALISTIC-looking clip-in bangs? I've bought a couple online that looked absolutely ridiculous. But I would love to have the option of clipping them in some times!
I am really glad that you didn't go with the "if you have a round face it will make you look fat so don't do it" video, because its kinda sad and tiring to hear something like that. You said what you had to say, but you left the unnecessary negativity out. Very nice!
You do NOT mention the DIFFERENT "placements" of "where" the bangs "start" on "top" of your head. I had a hairstylist just push "all" of my hair forward on top of my head and then cut the bangs curved on my forhead...."china bangs" I think they are called, but I do not think he was supposed to start all the way in the back of my head to push the bangs forward. I even brought a "picture" of what I wanted and it WAS NOT what he cut. Anyway, are there not bangs for a sort of "shag" cut that start "closer" to the top of the forhead and have about two inches across in the center of the forhead with slightly longer pieces on the side? I think bangs look better when they "start" closer to the top of the hair line, especially for someone with "finer" hair since it gives you more hair to style besides your bangs. Also, are there not "clip-on" bangs for someone to see if they look good in bangs or for those who just want the "occasional" bang look? My hair is all one length now thank goodness!
Yeah! And it is funny, but I think alot of women don't initially "understand" why different bangs look good or bad due to the placement of where the bangs start at the top of the head! They only discover it after the stylist makes a bad judgement and creates a bad look for them. I think this is a really important topic because the placement of where you start the bangs can make or break a "look". Perhaps in the future you could make a video about it? I would find it interesting and even more interesting as to why hairstylists can "mess" this up! lol!
Also, I think you need to take into account how much hair you have in/on the front of your head. I am thinning on the front of my head (age and thyroid) so we have to go back a little further to create fullness in my side swept bangs. Using Monat now, hoping I can grow more hair on the top of my head!! LOL
I agree. This was a video about the main types of bangs. But, of course *every hair is different* -(curly, straight, wavy/ thick, thin). *Every face-shape is different.* So, as Silvia said... She should do a video longer than 6h. to explain all in details! Coz, all these things are individual & they depend on many different factors. Cheers to all, especially to beautiful Silvia! T.Y 4 your gr8 videos! =)
Hi Sylvia, Thanks for making this video! Would you be open to doing a tutorial on how to use the GLAM SEAMLESS V shape clip-in bangs? There's different ways to use them but it would be great if you could show us how. Please 🙏 Thanks again, luv your videos!!
i have a question is not relevant to the video but i have no where else to ask, i suffer from dandruff and my hair is bleached almost to a platinium blonde is it safe to use head and shoulders?
OMG!! u changed my fat life, I was just about to cut side sift bangs for my round face again. haven't had them for 5 years & my hair's longer but i miss my short hair soo much..... now I know My Round can have Shaggy longsish bangs to match my older woman-ish look!!!
I found side-swept bang so much harder to style, but that's probably because I have a small section of hair at the front that only wants to go straight down, so it would require a LOT of product to get it to go to the side.
I know i’m really late, but i really want a cute fringe. The thing is i’m not sure they suit me because i have super frizzy, puffy, and thick hair. My face is kinda of like in between an oval and a rectangle shape. I’m not sure if i should get bangs or not :/
Every few years I will get bangs, but their always side swept bangs. I was thinking of maybe getting bangs again, but couldn't figure out what I wanted. I've always liked the way curtain bangs look, but I'm not sure that they would fit me
I have the first style mentioned, and sometimes when I go get a bang trim, depending on which hair dresser I get they seem to want to cut it STRAIGHT across. So there is a prominent line. I hate that AND I hate when they miss out on framing side pieces. What's the best way to describe what I want? Because, it seems like they've missed it more times than not. Also, I do like to part on the left so maybe this is why there is such difficulty?
My choice is always the mental illness bangs! they happen early morning hours with safety scissors and dirty bathroom mirrors.
Alena Bean I’m definitely recovering from these bangs lol
Boredom bangs 🙋🏼♀️
Omg that’s what I’m doing right now lmao 😳😳🥵🥵🥶🥶😫😫
Yeeeees speak the truth Alena Been!
So glad that I'm not the only one.
It's not just the face , it is also depend on the personality, nose shape and size, eyes, the forehead if it's big or small even the hair color
Queen 2ta exactly. There are so many factors to consider
True, I have a round face shape but bands work for me because I have a big forehead, dark hair, green eyes and a longer straight nose. Bangs don't make my face look too round.
True. Especially the nose. Oh... the nose.. It could be disastrous..
Agree there are many factors to consider that no one talk about
Exactly ..

I also would like to know cause I have the same issue! 😵
I don’t have to style my bangs, I don’t get when people say they’re high maintenance. They really aren’t. The only time I do have to restyle them is when I have a “rough” sleep, as in moving around a lot and sleep for a long time and wake up with crazzzy bed head
Thank you for not having a long video. I get bored.
I love my bangs ✂️
Sheila Folan your hair looks so good
jordan valdez awe thank you. I don’t have my hair like that anymore, it was very difficult to maintain x
Cheers =)
Can you please post a video on what makeup you wear in all of your videos. It is so beautiful!! 💜
Great video! I love how you didn't criticize the style of bangs themselves or seem biased.
Ugh I can’t live without my bangs! I’ve had my straight across bangs for about sixteen years. When I cut my hair in a pixie I didn’t have them anymore and I felt so LOST. They’re a part of me. 😂
I have a long face shape, and very little "top hair". What kind of bang should I pick?
I srsly cant tell what my face shape is /:
Ive been wanting micro bangs but idk if they'd suit me cause my hair is wavy
Kiss my voluptuous arse, smoorf oo okay thanks!:)
Great video. I'm debating going bangs again. I love them and I've had all these styles but the V bang...
I would love a video on how to cut the different bang styles too!!
This video is wonderful!
It’s been 2 years
When I was younger I’d get bangs and absolutely hate them.
O woooww!! I needed this!! Have been thinking for a week about what type of bangs I should do! Thank you so helpful !!! ❤️
What about curtain bangs? It’s trending right now but I’d love to hear your thoughts
Ariana Tolbert it's basically like the 70's bangs
Side swept bangs are like... my absolute favorite.
Great video Elle! It will help me explain what i want to my hairstylist. You look beautiful, as always. Did you ever rock bangs? If so, what style? (Only because I look up to you)😊
I love ellebangs, she's so sweet and classy. Love her down to earth, live and let live personality. Also, team Capricorn!!!!!!!
Loved this video. I have a quick question. Do you think that people with a cowlick in the front of the hair could pull-off/have shaggy bangs? I love my short hair, but I want a bit more of edge to it, so this video inspired me to look into shaggy bangs/shaggy haird cut too. Thank you
Can you please list what's on your face maybe in ur description. I always love your makeup and like to know what products you have on in this video.
Thanks for uploading this. I've been searching for videos like this and was brought to your channel. I enjoyed your explanations, images and details on face shapes. New subscriber!
Easy way to get bangs to sit down w/o heat. Wet them, comb them down, then slide a snug beanie down on your head till they dry. Works great!
Hi Silvia! Do bangs go out of style? I’ve been considering doing side swept bangs but don’t know if I’ll be outdated...lol.
MrsAlvarez Good question, I've been wondering the same thing!
Depends on what kind of side swept, some are out of style, but I think the shorter side swept are kinda in right now! Do you, girl! Who knows, maybe you’d start a trend!
Bangs are classic. They have never gone out of style.
MrsAlvarez I have sideswept bangs and love them.... Yeah don't judge I'm alternative
MrsAlvarez who fkn cares... you do you!
I just got bangs after 17 years... can u do a tutorial on how to style the “70” style bangs?
Can you do a video on how to deal with bangs when you have a cow lick?
Tulip * Also a video with a widows peak
just blowdry your hair the opposite way, worked for me
It's difficult it depends on the cowlick. Some cowlicks are just so strong that bangs is just not really an option
And in extreme "you really really really want bangs" cases, people shave the cowlick of and put bangs over to cover it but I'm really not a fan of those :D
Yes!!
Wear a tuque while it dries and overnight
New to tour channel but I love it! Your so open minded as far as style and I'm very appericative.
Hi Sylvia...Maybe you d not like your looks with bangs but on the last seconds on this video but I think you do. Thanks for your videos.
Very nice!
So love your channel!! Ty!! Can you please tell me the color of lipstick and eye shadow you are wearing?? So so flattering and natural on you!!
I love watching your posts! You are so real and GORGEOUS!! Thanks for all you do we love ya!!
+Karen Kroplinski different placements is a n entirely different video. This video would have been an hour long lol
I would find it interesting and even more interesting as to why hairstylists can "mess" this up! lol!
Yes, real and modern bangs should start at the back of your head. If you had a shag it would be the same just part differently.
I wish I could see you style both the micro/Bettie bangs and the vampire bangs, I had to grow mine out cause I couldn’t get them to style correctly
Hi Sylvia, Thanks for making this video! Would you be open to doing a tutorial on how to use the GLAM SEAMLESS V shape clip-in bangs? There's different ways to use them but it would be great if you could show us how. Please 🙏 Thanks again, luv your videos!!
I I want the same haircut as you, what should I ask the hairdresser?
i have a question is not relevant to the video but i have no where else to ask, i suffer from dandruff and my hair is bleached almost to a platinium blonde is it safe to use head and shoulders?
What face shape do u have and I still don’t know what I have
Does having glasses affect the type of bangs that might look good on someone? I have glasses and am not sure if this affects it as well or not
OMG!! u changed my fat life, I was just about to cut side sift bangs for my round face again.
haven't had them for 5 years & my hair's longer but i miss my short hair soo much.....
now I know My Round can have Shaggy longsish bangs to match my older woman-ish look!!!
Dakota bangs fifty shades freed are my favorite type of bangs
What kind of bangs would you suggest for someone with hair loss around the hairline and a high forehead? Love from Arizona
+Terry Lanier mid bangs or side swept. In fact micro bangs would also look gray on a higher forehead if you’re up for it!
ellebangs not the 70's bangs?
Whats your hair style called? Ive been interested in having parted bangs
What bangs are the best for people with big fourheads
If I were to do bangs I would have to try a wig with bangs or something before making that commitment haha
what types of bangs are good for a cowlick ( also with fine hair)? great video 😃
So what would twist fringe cut bangs be considered? Because to me they don’t look like any of these.
I remember asking where you bought your gold lips picture but have forgotten the answer! Will you please remind me? Thank you!
I found side-swept bang so much harder to style, but that's probably because I have a small section of hair at the front that only wants to go straight down, so it would require a LOT of product to get it to go to the side.
Dear person reading this, have a lovely rest of the year❤️💋 I hope it goes well for you😍💖 have a merry Christmas and also happy Halloween👻
Tasnim Khan aww thanks you too 😊♥️
Tasnim Khan I love you ❤️ Thank you for being a ray of sunshine 🤩
...Little did they know...
@@inannam1447 lol
I like styling my micro bang curly, makes it look textured and fluffy
I know i’m really late, but i really want a cute fringe. The thing is i’m not sure they suit me because i have super frizzy, puffy, and thick hair. My face is kinda of like in between an oval and a rectangle shape. I’m not sure if i should get bangs or not :/
Every few years I will get bangs, but their always side swept bangs. I was thinking of maybe getting bangs again, but couldn't figure out what I wanted. I've always liked the way curtain bangs look, but I'm not sure that they would fit me
video start at 2:09
I have the first style mentioned, and sometimes when I go get a bang trim, depending on which hair dresser I get they seem to want to cut it STRAIGHT across. So there is a prominent line. I hate that AND I hate when they miss out on framing side pieces. What's the best way to describe what I want? Because, it seems like they've missed it more times than not. Also, I do like to part on the left so maybe this is why there is such difficulty?
