Love my ARB awning and room. Just a FYI if you clip the room to the side poles before you do the zipper it is much easier as it takes all the weight off of the room.
@9:10 Love how you showed the caulk and where to apply it. Great video work! Your video covered lots of ground. (Sorry, couldn't resist.) Very good details. Thanks for taking the time to produce this.
great video . I love my arb awning/room too! just a heads up to people looking at getting one, i had to select the arb room with skylight manually. other wise you'r saving $30 i believe for no skylight for the led lighting system.
Good video on the ARB awning and Screen Room. I just bought one for myself but using a different awning, a few new holes for the awning arms and legs so it will fit. I'm hoping to get a lot of use out of it. I figure I can use it on both my Jeep and Scamp T.T.
Great video and confirms my desire to get this setup. One question: What is the distance measurement from the "channel" on the awning case to the bottom (floor) of the awning room. I have a van with a bubble top on it and am concerned as to where on that bubble top the awning will need to be placed. Always nervous about putting holes in the rig and want to be sure when I attach the awning that the awning room will hit the ground at the right spot and not either be off the ground a few inches or crumple over with a few inches of fold at the floor.. Thanks in advance for any feed back. Stay safe.
Looks cool guys. My wife and I are gonna take it out tomorrow in Benson, AZ. Will be referring back to this vid I'm sure! How about a way to make floor less noisy?
We actually purchased about 5 Mexican blankets that we use for various things: tablecloth, mattress covers, and we use them on the floor especially on cold nights. They cut down on the noise from the floor and help insulate the screen room a bit. They do get dirty when used as a floor cover but just throw them in the wash and they are ready to go for next time. Thanks for watching!
We just set up our awning with the room for the first time. Went up with no issues, but taking it down we ran into a snag, literally. When we try to slide the 'rods' out of the channel it gets stuck before we can get it past the plastic end cap. I tried widdling away a bit of the inside where it was catching but I really don't want to do that. Did y'all have any issues with the rod catching on the plastic end cap. It was the same on both ends and on the zipper side too.
Hi there, thanks for watching! Here is the info for our awning and screen room: ARB 4x4 Accessories 814410 Retractable Awning with Led Light Strip Included 2500x2500mm 8.2 Feet, Ideal for Camping, Roadtrips, Outdoor Trips, Travel, Expeditions, RV, Camper, 4x4 and SUV a.co/d/grvK6nc ARB 813108A Awning Room Accessory Deluxe with Floor 2500mm x 2500mm Heavy Duty, for ARB Awnings 2500x2500 all models (814410, 814411 and 814412A)) a.co/d/77jZY9B
That makes so much more sense! We both thought, how the heck is this gonna work? But the light still shines through enough to be useful. Thanks for watching!
I also have a 109 and it looks like I’ll have to drill holes in order to install it. Just wondering if your ARB awning came with the bolts for mounting. Thank you.
Hey there! The awning came with 6 bolts. We drilled holes in the existing roof rack brackets to install. The bolts then slide into a channel on the back of the aluminum bracket of the awning. Thanks for watching!!
Florida afternoon thunderstorms are no joke, they come out of no where and can bring heavy rain. With that being said, we haven't had any water get inside the room during those storms. We always make sure we have the awning itself pulled taut and slanted so the water can run off. Thanks for watching!
What are your thoughts on the floor? I just set mine up for first time and am having an issue with getting floor tighter. I feel I will trip on floor folds more than the door lol. Also thanks for the garage door seal tip!
The floor is also noisy! We actually got some cheap "Mexican blankets" that we put down on the floor. It helps with the noise, adds another layer of insulation, and smooths out the floor. Not a perfect solution but we like it, we end up just shaking out the blankets and washing when needed.
We still love it! It's fairly easy to set up (even I can do it by myself) and makes for a great shelter overall. We live in Florida so it's nice to have shade and the option to open the sides but still have the bug netting. We definitely recommend!! Thanks for watching - Lindsey
According to the manufacturer, the 2500x2500 screen can accommodate awning heights from 6.2ft to 6.8ft from the ground. Hope this is helpful, thanks for watching!
Do you know what the max height you can mount this and still be able to use the room? In other words, how tall are the walls from ground to awning? Thank you so much!!
According to the manufacturer, the 2500x2500 screen room can accommodate awning heights from 6.2ft to 6.8ft from the ground. Hope this is helpful, thanks for watching!
hi guys, I like your videos. This is my first winter with my Sun Ray 109. I'm confident that I have the water all drained and the anti-freeze properly added. But I don't know, do you leave your trailer plugged to shore power all winter, to keep the battery charged??
Hi Phil! We do not keep it plugged into shore power when it's not in use, even during the winter. We actually have a battery disconnect switch and disconnect while home so that the battery doesn't run down with any auxiliary equipment that runs. Thanks for watching! - Lindsey
The spot where the zippers meet will have a small gap but other than that the screen room can be completely sealed off. We typically camp in swampy Florida and haven't had any problems with bugs so far! We try our best to open/close as quickly and rarely as possible to keep the bugs out. Thanks for watching!
Hi I just had a question for you how do you set up the Bluetooth speaker to your phone? Would you be able to do a video on it, been having issues connecting it was hoping you could help, thanks.
We've not been carried off by mosquitoes yet! 😆 Honestly we've not been bothered by sand gnats or mosquitoes once inside the room. Do a few get in? Yes, and I think it's from the kids going in/out more than than the zipper gap. But it's not been bad enough for us to need the ThermaCELL inside the screen room so I'd call that a win. Thanks for watching! -Lindsey
It is possible. I just took the kids camping by myself a few weekends ago and was able to set up the awning and screen room by myself. I will say that it wasn't as easy as a pop up tent would be of course, and sometimes I wish my arms were longer. But I succeeded. Ben has no problem with setting it up alone, so I'm gonna blame my height for the difficulty I experienced 😆 Thanks for watching -Lindsey
Great question, don't give up! We haven't had issues with pooling, not to say that we will never experience. We try to be intentional about leaving one corner significantly lower than others so that rain will run off. Good luck!
Great Question! We did not buy the brackets although they can be found on Amazon if needed. We decided to mount directly to the existing roof rack brackets. The awning itself did come with the screws that fit into the metal channel that you then affix to the bracket. Thanks for watching! - Lindsey
@@TheWayfinder thanks! I saw how someone bought a single garage screen magnetically close door and velcro on the inside to make a screen net. Cant find a video for that but there is a tid bot for you. I imagine I'll try that. Also I was using an enclosed canopy for my kitchen 8 by 8 was working great but I'm super stocked for this because it will be my kitchen coffee room. I have a few camp tables and I have found using my cuisinart grill is my favorite way to cook when camping thanks Lindsey!
Oh, good question! We've thought about making modifications using industrial Velcro or something similar to keep the room flush with the trailer. We'd love for it to be completely sealed so we could leave the trailer door open but couldn't figure out a decent way to accomplish that. Plus #floridamosquitos 🙄 would never allow us to get by with that plan 😆. So we decided to just stake it as close as possible, deal with the gap and continue to zip/unzip every time we open the trailer door. Let us know if you think of a good solution! Thanks for watching! - Lindsey
Do y’all ever have issues tripping over the tent at the bottom when getting in and out of the camper seeing as it doesn’t sit flush against the camper?
Oh, great question! We usually put a folding step stool down just to assist with the long step down and there is a stake on that corner to keep things in place as well. But I have absolutely tripped on the screen room trying to get out because I was lazy and didn't fully unzip the panel 🤦🏼♀️. I'd like to say it won't happen again, but I know myself better than that 😆. Thanks for watching! -Lindsey
Hi Russell! The screen room and tent both have stakes and/or guy wires so they are secure in the wind. Even while we were videoing the wind was whipping off the field and both held perfectly. Amazon links to the awning and screen room are below the video in the description box. Thanks for watching!
Ben is considering adding a "batwing" awning to the other side of the camper and getting sides with no floor to use as a shower room. Right now we use a Wolfwise pop up shower tent and ikea deck plates for a shower floor. Let us know if you come up with a shower solution! Thanks for watching! - Lindsey

I have this setup and I'm very disappointed with how weak the telescoping arms are. Obviously it's a major problem as everyone has undelivered PO's and one major online dealer has HUNDREDS of backorders on the telescoping arms. ARB does not support their warranty and the horizontal arms are NOT strong enough to support the room. I had it setup on a calm, no wind, no rain day. It was just me. It was setup and installed correctly, and one of the arms still bent. They are a $13 part which speaks volumes. They need to upgrade these poles to make them much stronger. I regret my purchase and hope ARB upgrades the design and decides to stand by their warranty.
The location in this video was the windiest place we've used it. It's crazy what can come whipping across those fields! As with any awning it is best to take down during high wind situations and whether wind or not it's important to stake both the awning and screen room. Because the screen room and awning have their own stakes/loops we feel confident when it is up that everything will hold into place for normal wind situations.
