Let's not forget that the Darling brothers made their fortunes from being the founders of budget software giant Codemasters in the mid 80s. Game Genie came quite a few years later.
Note that they refer to video games as "computer video games", since most of the UK video game industry was centered around releases for home computers at the time.
@@gbhxu ah yeah Mastertronic came first and was the original budget label which had nothing to do with the Darlings then after that Codemaster came along which was a competitor
After you beat a game, it's fun to use it for different cheats sometimes. And like they said, it wasn't always to make the game easier, you could make games harder, or change some levels. I remember applying ice to levels, that didn't have it, or using a jump boost. There were even some extra levels, and stuff already on the game cartridge, just blocked for use by developers. It wasn't just cheats, it unlocked the game.
Game genie made rental games more fun.

These were the guys behind Codemasters a now massive and very well known UK game development team. EA bought Codemasters in 2021 for $1.2b 👏

Doesn't it?
Strange....Lotus is famous for their build quality
@@joepisco8522 yeah? 😂
I still remember the games designer for the Vic 20 that the Darling brothers put out on cassette… wacky but great fun. Don’t begrudge em their fortune

They were great to add a new dimension to a game.
Cheats work if you like to explore the game to full potential
70 grand sports car??? It's a 93 Lotus Elan.... 20 grand at the most... classic BBC research!
Its old footage from 1993 though, that’s the new price

They were absolute Darlings and I bought loads of their Mastertronic games.
You mean Codemasters

Look at what the guy in the double-breasted gray suit does.
green suit? 🤷🏿♀️
‘Video buffs’
They did not spend anything on office furniture and chairs. There could be an RSI claim in there.
The game genie was more then just cheating thats what they don't understand
Typical Nintendo. Suing and banning things they don't like 😂
“Just run through the baddies at the end” England 🏴💪
Never had one, makes buying the original game pointless if you’re just going to cheat.
Agreed

Not really. I never had one but could of done with one for Tazmania on Mega Drive as that game was just super annoying.

Yeah let's talk about the 1% of users.
Wasn't about that. You could do interesting things, not just make the game easier.
