2024 and you saved me... I don't even know how much mexican pesos calling a technician but you you saved me. It worked really fine and I only have almost 2 months with my first upright piano. I owe you many beers and pizza. Really I'm so grateful with your video. Texting from Mexico City, greetings.

My daughter just complained of a clicking key on her piano. Opened it up and it was the same problem. Searched up an answer and your vid was top of the list. Had it repaired in under 5 minutes. Thanks man. Saved an expensive visit from the repairman.

You're not untrained. You're self-trained. 😁 Check out AMS Piano Tools number 129 Jack Holding Tool. You put it between the jack toe and the letoff button and it holds the jack away from the hammer flange screw. You don't need to take the key out to get at the screw but you do need to release the bridle. It also helps to have the correct screwdriver (AMS number 34) because it has a very skinny shaft to get past the jack.

there are times when tightening the screw doesn't take care of the problem. This is because the glued joints of the hammer head and shank have lost their ability to hold, meaning there is still some movement going on in the joint where the shank is slamming against the inside of the hole in the hammer. If you find that you can move the hammer while holding the hammer butt in place, then you need to reapply glue to the hammer and or shank. The shank in the hammer butt could also come loose and cause the clicking sound.

Hello Sir, One note in my upright sounds very metallic or sharp. Is there a way to fix it without replacing the hammer?. Its hard to control it while trying to play soft.

That's common because from time to time hammers get denser so produce this metallic sound. To fix it you're suppost to needle the hammer felt on all 3 of the string grooves. That releases the tension of the hammer and produces the natural sound. If you needle to much the sound becomes mellow/dull.
