Hi Maddie. Love your videos. I'm not sure when the season is, but the Guamuchil gives a fruit ( I think it's considered a fruit 🤔) that is really tasty. It comes in a pod, kinda cottony looking with a dark pit. I'm sure if you ask around the tiangis they can fill you in on the details. Hope you give it a try.
Girl, I am so impressed with your Spanish...you have an accent which is normal but you are very fluent and I see you totally understand what they are saying. I love watching you speak Spanish.
Hi Maddie! just wanted to say that i watched you in 2018 and you were one of 2 channels that inspired me to visit Mexico, and i did in late 2018. I visited Guadalajara and I loved it! This morning I woke up and for some reason Tangerine Travels popped into my mind, i hadn't seen any of your videos since 2020, since i hadn't subscribed, but today I will! So i looked you up and was saddened by the news. I just want to say that you are a brave and courageous woman, don't change, ever, for anyone. Also, i watched and enjoyed your videos because of YOU! you are an inspiration! stay true to your heart! I love all your new videos:) thank you for your continued travels and for sharing most of those moments with all of us!
Guadalajara Was not good experience for my kid. Flying out from there after visiting other destination. Apparently drug cartel arrested And yeah She was freaking out . Not a normal riot People shooting Up bang bang. I’ve been watching hers and others too - so when I retire. Soo not sure . Keep watching 😅😊😊😂😂
I love listening to natural interactions with you speaking Spanish. Make your own pinata! it's not hard and you can make funny shapes etc. You can fill it with 'adult' items. Happy Birthday!
One thing about shopping in Mexico; You enjoy what they have, such as the original non processed food / tacos but you also have the Walmart, Costco and Home Depot to go to. Enjoy Mexico!
You look so sweet today!!! Smart, strong woman in control of herself and living most persons dreams as most people cant pull it all together and get the courage to do so. You will have no regrets and your doing the right thing. We plan on trying it soon at 70!
Oh, Maddie! What a trip down memory lane for me. In my two years in Ajijic I went to the market pretty well every week. Such a fun experience and so much cheaper than buying produce at Walmart. I've walked every street in your video. I bought all sorts of things at that "Dollar Store" you shopped at. Spent far too many hours at Centro. Boy, do I ever miss Ajijic! Thanks for this video. Loved your cute top too.
Wow, I love that you are doing your own videos. My family and I watched your Tangerine 🍊 channel and it has inspired us to do some more research on moving to Mexico. My brother ran into you at the Ajijic market, and sent me this video. (He's the one in the black T-shirt) We travel to Jocotepec three times a year, and also love the magical town of Ajijic. Enjoy Ajijic and I'm glad you love it as much as we do.
The clothes stands, or paca, as they're called in Mexico City, have some second hand stuff, but some have really good quality and brands. From forever 21, gap, liz claiborne, and such. Sometimes they come from Ross, goodwill, or other liquidated collections. It's a good way to save money and the environment by buying what was still perfectly servicible or 'out of season' brand new.
Really nice video Maddie! Congrats on the birthday, and the Mexican bank account (careful there, they often don’t tell you all the entry charges, try intercam or even HSBC).
Guamuchil Botanical name: Pithecellobium dulce The Guamuchil tree is a flowering plant that belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is a fast-growing tree first introduced as a shade tree in dry lowlands and eventually became naturalized in many areas It is native to Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. The wood is used for paneling, boxes, crates, wagon wheels, general construction, posts and fuel. Guamuchil is also known as a good forage plant for honey bees.
Thanks Maddie another amazing video.. You cover so many interesting things that I, and I am sure others would ask you in person. Have a wonderful time down there
Happy Birthday Maddie! Have an awesome birthday. Thirty-one isn't a huge deal. You have lots of living to do. Have a wonderful birthday celebration. I hope you film it all so we get to celebrate with you. Great content as always.🎂🎂🎂🎂😊🎉🎉🎉
I would so love to go to a wonderful market like that especially for the food (those tacos and pizza looked delicious!) and local grown veggies! Fun video to see a day in your life 😊🌴
Hi Maddie! I'm really enjoying you enjoying my adopted town of Ajijic - my wife and I moved here 4 years ago and we absolutely love it. Hope you have a very happy birthday (my Mom's birthday is February 5th as well). I hope you decide to stay in this area as a home base - it really is a magical place. I'll keep an eye out for you to say hi!
Hola Maddie!! Tu espanol es muy bueno. You taught me a new Spanish word today...."copias". Muchas gracias!! I will add it to my arsenal of broken Spanish😆. I really liked this video. Gotta love a good Mexican street market. Tambien, no stroll down a Mexican calle would be complete without dogs and vendors. E.L.O...TE!!!!!!! 🌽🌽🌽
So that produce stand, in my experience, is the most expensive which might explain why it was more than you thought it would be. I buy the bulk of my produce from an older couple near where you ate tacos and only go to the one at the bottom for rarer stuff (lemons, Brussels, etc.)
I'm inclined to agree. Didn't realize who it was before buying, but I've also shopped at their location on the carratera (the physical location) and they scammed me by ringing up multiple items of produce as expensive meat and short-changed me. I won't go back there again. There are plenty of honest vendors in Ajijic that deserve the business instead.
That tiangis brings me back to my childhood summers with my parents in Mexico. I want to go back soon! Thanks for the video. Also yay turtles!! They are my fave 😍
Nice to see the Tianguis again. There used to be a small taco stand with killer pork tacos. Joco has a good vegetable market on the east side of the square. I used it over the Tianguis. YMMV. Great butcher for chorizo across the street and on the corner from the vegetable market.
Hi Maddie, I love your videos! I am Mexican, living in Southern California for almost 30 years and now going back to live in León, Gto. Just came a subscriber of you channel ♥
Wow, didn’t know you were in Ajijic. I’m spending the winter there and go to the same places so funny I haven’t seen you. That market is really close for me, but the Monday morning market in Chapala is much cheaper.
Happy Birthday Maddie!!!!! We always tip the standard 10% at any restaurant but notice that most of the Mexican people around us aren't leaving any sort of tip. We do not live in a largely tourist populated area. Ok... I need one of those rolling grocery carriers!
Yeah. sometimes the Mexicans. They don't just follow the protocol of giving money as tips. Also if a good relationship is established with the worker or service provider. We also share food, clothing or any improvised gift. Also a good talk is appreciated. There is no rule for tipping. One sets at the same time. Whether it is possible to tip or not. Normalmente un buen Mexicano. Si va a dar propina(Tip)
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY MADDIE! Hope you have a fun birthday celebration! Gong that piñata 🪅 😉lol. Just drove down to Ajijic with my little dog from Canada. 👩🏻🦰🐶 I do not know anyone, and I do not speak much spanish. A little intimidating for sure. Hope to run into you in town somewhere or strolling down through the market. 😊 I could definitely help you get your groceries home. Love your vlogs! Gracias! 🌝
Happy belated birthday, Maddie! I hope you had a wonderful celebration. I do remember the full moon on your birthday last Sunday. I actually look a picture of it. It was beautiful, just like your smile!🎂🎉

I enjoyed shopping at the dollar store, and I love Luz and Manuel who were our landlords the first year we lived there. They are the best!
Your actually living out what everyone else dreams of , just leaving and starting over… congrats
