Nice videos. I’ve been using Wright tools literally my entire life. It’s what my father had. Although I still have his from 1974, I have replaced them with new. I had issues with the chrome on my original wrightgrip set(pre 2.0). It took some work, but Wright warrantied both metric and SAE sets. Me being impatient, I purchased another set of the satin finished metrics and prefer them because they have some grip, as you’d expect. If you’d purchased through Palmac, they take care of the warranty process. Unfortunately they have gotten a lot of attention for how good they are and have been somewhat difficult to get. Maybe they have finally caught up though, I haven’t checked recently.
I love the Wright tools wrenches, I have the SAE and the metric in full polish chrome. I have a 9/16" that the chrome started to chip just a little. Nothing as bad as the large one you have but I do believe the warranty covers it. I've been meaning to reach out to them about it!
I own the 715 set which is 15 pcs SAE 12pt box end in Satin and the 952 set with 15 pcs Polished chrome Metric 12 pt box ends. I wanted all polished chrome but now like the satin a bit more because it has a bit more grip. To this point my wrenches haven’t had a severe work out. The chrome on my metrics is still perfect.
I have Carlyle, Snapon, Milwaukee, and one other Taiwan brand of the no slip wrenches. I also have the Wright. In my opinion the Wright grip works by far the best. Only "issue" is that the Wright are shorter than the Snapon and Carlyle. But that is not a deal breaker.
I have a VIM wrench extender 15”. Also Mueller Kueps(sp?) makes one that had a 1/2” sq. Drive in the end to add a breaker bar for even more torque 💪🏻 lol
I live in WI so it's Snap-On country but I love Wright Grip wrenches. I have both metric and SAE no skips. Have the full range of ratchets and sockets too. Cheaper than Snap-on, not the best chrome but it's still better chrome than the US-made SK's I bought in 2012. I think the chrome issue is mainly due to EPA. If the metal has residue from the manufacturing process, the chrome has less of a bond to the steel. The solvents are highly regulated and are inferior to previous decades. The chrome process itself is handicapped by the EPA. I've had a lot of chrome tools flake and peel. They're all made in USA tools where the government makes it nearly impossible to have a perfect chrome job. Over in Taiwan/China, they can do a lot of things, use a lot of chemicals that the EPA & OSHA would never allow to be used.
2:18.. Satin is chrome..just a different process... 6:15.. to hold a McPherson strut on top so it doesn't spin..and some exhaust studs have a 9mm on top..
i just picked up the same set, i noticed on larger wrenches like 22, 23, 24 the open end look like they scratches or pit lines. The Chrome on mine didn’t chip off like that, well it’s still new so whose know.
