Snap-on VS. Wright Tools - Who Makes The Best Wrench?!?

- KEEP THE AWESOME COMMENTS COMING, THEY KEEP GIVING ME VIDEO IDEAS!! Recently I had a gentleman in the comments if I remember correctly say he chose the Snap-on combination wrenches over the Wright Tool ones and the length of them was a big deciding factor for him. This got me thinking! I have a set of Snap-on flank drive metric combo wrenches so why not compare a few of the wrenches I use or have used over the years. There has been a few good videos that I've watched comparing the Wright Tools wrenches to others on the market. To each their own and I'm sure there are plenty of reasons to sway a decision between the two one way or the other. BUT! This is why I PERSONALLY chose the Wright Tools "Wright Grip 2.0" full polished combination wrenches over Snap-on.

I think Wright tools should make content showcasing their tools and telling us why we should be buying their tools. It seems alot of tool companies makes it harder to buy their products.
Its a real shame but I think companies like this tend to overlook the Individual customer and would much rather sell contracts to carpentry/mechanical companies etc.
I don't disagree with you at all! But also think if this, Wright tools is an old company, often it's hard to teach an old old dog new tricks. Some people and the companies they run are very stuck in their ways of doing things. So something like an old company breaking into a new age of marketing like that often requires a lot of upsetting how things have been done there so long ... For example maybe hiring new people who may come in and try to uproot a lot of the old practices that are what makes the company a quality company. Sometimes that can be a double edge sword for a company that is set in its ways. But ultimately I AGREE, they need to get more information out about their tools so everyone (not just industry workers) can make informed decisions on tool purchases!
If you like Wright I'd also suggest Proto- specifically their ASD (Anti-Slip) combo wrenches. They have a beefier feel like Wright and arguably grip maybe a touch better with tighter tolerances. It also doesn't hurt that Proto invented the combination wrench in 1933...
The Torque Test Channel review said it all. I own the Wright Grip 2.0’s and they’re great. I like them better than Snap-Ons..
Agreed, I have both, but a much more comprehensive set of wright’s. I use them every day and I wouldn’t change anything about my decision to go with them over any other brand.
Cool. My favorite wrenches are the SK-Wayne's from the late 1960's. Made is USA.
SK used to be a stellar brand and their super chrome was like no other! Unfortunately they have gone to overseas manufacturing as well these days, still seems to be a quality product but not for the money they cost present day. I looked hard at the SK wrenches as well when making my move to Wright. The SK's "IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY" were even shorter than the Wright Tools wrenches, that and price was why I ended up ruling them out as an option
@@TalkinTools Yes. It is unfortunate. Now they are just overpriced for lesser quality. Just like Porter Cable which used to make top notch tools.
Just like bolts and nails , hand tools can be placed in three grades. You have your box store tools( craftsman and husky are examples, mechanics tools ( snap on and corn well ) , then you got industrial that would be where Wright tools come in . If anyone argues against this they don’t have an education on the matter like I have. You cannot get wright tools like the others for a reason. If you ask any oil rig operator or anyone in the field what they prefer… wright tools hands down
It depends on what you are looking for in a wrench? Do you want a ratcheting or standard combination wrench, or a combo. with extra biting on the open end? Then you have the stubbies? As far a ratcheting one's go, my older Matco USA reversible ratcheting wrenches are my all time favorite? The Opti-Torque or whatever you call the open end Flank drive style works better than I ever expected? I actually thought it was a gimmick, until I used it, and now I will never go back to regular open end wrenches? I own only one Gearwrench regular ratcheting wrench, and I don't like how wide the box ends are, can't get them in a lot of places? Only own one Flank Drive Plus 17 MM wrench, and it's great? I use the Matco's in place of regular combination wrenches, since the box ends are so slim, they work almost everywhere? Own 2 complete sets of SK USA stubbies that I like, to take care of the rest? The Wright wins in my book, so long as it's Made in the USA, you can't go wrong? Good job, sir.
I agree completely, there is a different wrench for different jobs. The little nuances between brands may be the making or breaking point for certain jobs. This is exactly why I own upwards of 200 different wrenches of varying brands, shapes and sizes. But for the last 2 years I have been vary happy with these Wright Tools standard length combination wrenches and their performance, fit and finish for the price point!
I like the smaller snap on wrenches, but the bigger snap on sizes(1 inch & up) seem to have a pretty sharp edge on them similar to like a mac knuckle saver. Plus snap on doesn't offer a satin chrome finish, so that made the choice for me.
I ended up going with Wright for all my wrenches, thought about Proto but all the shop tools are Proto so didn't want any confusion. Another bonus I guess is that I've only ever seen 1 other mechanic that also had wright, which makes it easy when you're cleaning up and trying to find out what tools belong to who.
I was looking at a few brands before I pulled the trigger and Proto was one of them but if I remember correctly getting my hands on the same number of wrenches from Proto would’ve cost me more than the wright’s and from what I could find they out performed every other brand. I agree I haven’t seen another set of wright wrenches in another mechanics box so far.
And then, the Snap On longs are like 15mm longer (so, not much just a little extra)
I think there’s something to be said for the Williams too
I´ve seen some few videos about this specific topic; in EVERY AND EACH ONE of them it seems that Wright tools are far superior than Snap On at least talking about open en wrenches; still there is the fact that George mentioned... perhaps there is very few info and advertising about Wright tools in US, let alone other countries.
Perhaps I decide to give a chance to a Wright wrench set, to me it looks quite convincing.
Warm regards from Mexico.
I'd definitely put the wright's up against any other brand with confidence. They've proved to be a quality tool for a fair price. They definitely need to work on making them more available or at least get the word out how to get more info on them. Thanks for watching!!
The thickness seems nice for when you're double wrenching. The second wrench always gets flexy & feels like its gonna snap 😂
Lmao, you’re not wrong 😂, all and all I prefer a wrench not to dig into me when I’m yarning on it, but there are definitely other points to be made like that one🤘🏼
I use Tekton wrenches daily, if I feel something is gonna slip I put the snap on wrench on it. It usually takes it off everytime. Surprising what the Flank drive plus open end takes off vs where others will spread and slip
I love Tekton wrenches as well, I also see your other comment saying my video is pointless and you referring to something about my opinion. So I'd rather have a chat about wrenches than talk about either of our "opinions"... You've probably heard of Mr. Subaru on social media, here's a link to a wrench comparison he did ( ua-cam.com/video/1giNEavrCFE/v-deo.html ) Snap-on vs. Wright Tool. The Snap-on surprisingly slipped and the Wright took that snap-ons then rounded fastner out. He himself is a hardcore Snap-on fanboy and he admitted that the Wright Tool out performed the much pricier Snap-on. If you want to talk about metallurgy and the difference between a forged wrench like the Wright Tools and the Snap-on VS. a plate steel, laser cut and hardened wrench like the Tekton than lets get into the molecular structural differences that those two kinds of wrenches have.
@Talkin’ Tools Mr surbaru is a landscaper not a mechanic lol
Maybe go watch project farm how the Wright grip got a low score and the guy isn't bought out by big companies with free products 🤷♂️
@@kwmiked I don't care what he does or who sends him products, he used to be a snap-on dealer from everything I've gathered and Snap-on dealers typically drink the koolaid and think Snap-on is the best LOL. Either way there are only a few guys out there "testing" wrenches like this, so whose videos do you think I watched before spending $700-800 on a set of wrenches? Oh yeah probably Project Farm. Now did you pay close attention to the numbers in that test video? Because if you did we wouldn't be sitting here having this convo. Take his first open end test, he measures these tests predominantly in INCH POUNDS. So the wright fell further down than halfway on that first tests list at 369.1 inch pounds and the snap on hit 409.6 inch pounds. Convert those numbers to FOOT POUNDS now... thats literally a difference of 3.37 foot pounds... You ever set a torque wrench to 3 foot pounds? It's basically nothing. So please explain to me why I would pay $26 more per wrench (using your beloved project farms costs) when the actual numeric difference in performance is almost nothing? Go ahead educate me if I'm wrong, I'm all ears bud.
@@TalkinTools you should probably look at the torque test channels comparo with these wrenches.. it's super interesting they tested most every brand over two videos
@@kwmiked I agree mr Subaru is a flog
Is the open end alot thicker then?
That’s a real good question, I’ll have to take a look at that on Monday!
Gearwrench bites harder
Great video 👍
Thank you sir!
Are you charlie sheen?
Really a pointless video not showing people how your opinion is worth anything 🤷♂️
Who Makes The Best Wrench?!? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Absolutely nothing answered; no comparisons or anything related to a better tool. How about making a wooden wrench which will feel bigger in your hand--do you think that will be a "better" wrench??? Any idea of the steel/composition of the material in each wrench??
If you plan on making videos where you'll get viewership up to supporting them, you need to do MUCH better; maybe watch some PROJECT FARM videos to see why he has a strong viewership
How about coming up with a more ignorant comment than that Bruce all Mighty! Im not sure it's possible lol. So you know Project farm and a few others have already tested these wrenches? OK cool so if you want test results go watch their videos, I'm not going to spend thousands of dollars on wrenches and test equipment to make a video that already exists for the 200 people that follow me on here. That would be about as stupid as what just fell out of your mouth above. Use the English language that you seem to comprehend and read the description of the video where it says this is comparison of why "I CHOSE TO GO WITH WRIGHT" meaning it is completely opinion based and that implies I will be doing no testing in this video. You don't like it? Go follow Project Farm instead of me. Have a great day!
