I appreciate the deep dive you're doing into Serbia. It is where my dad's side of my family is from and it's nice to live vicariously through you guys. I was able to visit family in Kraljevo but that was about it.
As Belgradian, I sometimes go to Novi sad and Subotica just to relax, walk the streets or grab some food. I also do my trips south to Kragujevac, Nis, Pirot, Kraljevo. Usually, when you come from big city you expect a province, but it's usually a better street than you live in as home. As for Subotica - being all supergreat - you should come back in summer, check out the main square when fountain is working and when all kids are around, as well as when all pubs around the square is open and it's full of handcrat stands... So Vojvodinian, love it. But main thing about Subotica is that you can go to nearby Palic lake (via public transport or $5 cab drive), a relict of ancient Pannonian sea and have a quality beach experience. And damn this situation, Subotica has one of the best mixes of Serbian and Hungarian foods, amazing fish dishes from Danube, meaty and fatty Serbian stuff and spicy Hungarian specialties whit goulash and whatnot. Subotica is a ++city, it's a great urban place where cultures meet, work well together and loving it.
I'm from Serbia, and I've lived or I've been several times to all of the cities that you visited in Serbia, but still I've learned so many new things about those cities watching your videos. Keep up the good work!

AHHH my hometown!!! I nearly cried at the end of the video, because I was at home on holiday 18 months ago it was a long time since I visited my family and friends!! Damn Covid virus even when I was in the army I was like 4 weeks at home in 1 year!!! BOSS is nice and you have Stara Picerija that was first opened for public in 1977 more than 40 years ago.. Food is really nice there, pizzas as well, and soups!!! My favorite soup that I eat when I am in SU at Stara Picerija is 'supa od morke'/'soup of guinea fowl' in English.. As for dessert you should try 'chestnut puree cup" I think it is a dessert that people used to eat a lot when we were still Yugoslavia and had much better standard of living.. Nowadays even in the hot summer days on weekend nights there aren't many people old or young in town out on the streets of Subotica because thousands of us, ages from 19 to 45/50 years old left to find so to speak a better life or to try to save as much as possible working abroad. As for other foods you should definitely try beef goulash, chicken/turkey paprikash or chicken/turkey paprikash made of legs and gizzards if you can find the latter.. Good restaurants for barbecue are The Best Food, Sarajevo, Zlatni Hambi and the best 'burek' you will eat at LIPA!! Make sure if you have time to visit Palic and take a long walk around the lake, there are some small restaurants there with nice food as well.. Every year on 1st and 2nd of May for the International Workers' Day many people from Serbia gather and celebrate it going to Palic and there is a big fair there with lots of various food mainly barbecues, goulash/paprikash and fish dishes(fish soup and fried fish)!!! Subotica is an old city with the tradition it was first mentioned in the 14th century if I am not mistaken and in 1779 proclaimed a Free Royal Town by Empress Maria Theresia herself and was named Maria-Theresiopolis.. If you like Vojvodina, then Sombor should be the next (maybe last?) city in the region to visit. It shouldn't be far from Subotica, it's smaller, even more different and beautiful than the southern cities. A very enjoyable little town to finish your road trip in.
History: Jovan Nenad, established in 1526-27 his rule in Bačka, northern Banat and a small part of Syrmia and created an independent entity, with Subotica as its administrative centre. At the peak of his power, Jovan Nenad proclaimed himself as Serbian tsar in Subotica. He named Radoslav Čelnik as the general commander of his army, while his treasurer and palatine was Subota Vrlić, a Serbian noble from Jagodina.
Can you stop spreading false information? "When Zabadka/Zabatka was first recorded in 1391, it was a tiny town in the medieval Kingdom of Hungary. Later, the city belonged to the Hunyadis, one of the most influential aristocratic families in the whole of Central Europe."
Next year there should be kinda bullet train which will go BG- Novi Sad in 27 minutes. And year after that, another part Novi Sad - Subotica , another 35 minutes. That will be convenient for a day trips . Right now, if you staying for some more time, I guess that you have made some research, there is few things you should see, with expecting nicer weather : Drvangrad and Shargan eight , Manasia monastery complex ( as I know, you compatriot, English lady is igumania ( head sister ) of monastery ) , and Golubac fortress. And Zlatibor. And, while you here, if you haven't immunized , why don't you take a jab ? It's easiest in Belgrade, I believe that you could chose type of vaccine.
it is customary that when you enter someone's home, you should undress, and then some of them offer you slippers if the floor is cold .... it is considered rude if you enter someone's apartment wearing shoes ... of course no one will tell you anything. .. but will create a negative image of you
@@dabbleandtravel I find it really annoying when at the entrance you obviously see that the hosts don't want you walking around the place in shoes. It has it's background from the time when there were not many roads and pavements outside so you always come home with a lot of mud and dirt on your shoes. In Vojvodina even today because many people do agriculture and come back very muddy from the crop field. Of course, when you have your own AirBnB you decide the rules.
Subotica is a really beautiful town in Upper Vojvodina! Precisely in Northern Backa Region! Liberty Architecture derives from Hungary! Hungarian and Serbian culture mix here! There are a lot of " konobas " ( little reasturant), the equivalent of Hungarian " Etterem", where eating a tasteful Goulasch.!!!!!!!!!!! Thank u i subscribed! i Went there in 2012.

Subotica is well-known for it's architecture, but it also has a hidden gem: the huge flea market (Buvljak). It's well organized and chaotic at the same time and you can find literally everything there, old and new. Worth a visit if you're into such things. Nice video btw, make sure to visit again when the pandemic's over :)
Hey thanks for such an amazing video! Can you please tell me if getting the drone in Belgrade was an issue and is it okay to fly a mavic pro in Serbia?
3:20 Answer to your question is Yes. We wear thick wool socks or slippers (or both:).
You guys are great!
Thank you!
My favourite city is Subotica.....i live in it😀😀
Next year there should be kinda bullet train which will go BG- Novi Sad in 27 minutes.
Come back during summer, Its beautiful
it is customary that when you enter someone's home, you should undress, and then some of them offer you slippers if the floor is cold .... it is considered rude if you enter someone's apartment wearing shoes ... of course no one will tell you anything. .. but will create a negative image of you
Thank you!
This is 100% true!
Come to Loznica, border west city...Its the city thats growing faster than any other city in Serbia, it was a small village thats turning into big city and getting bigger every year....alot of new buildings and nice historical things, man that invented Serbian letters was from Loznica...Also in Loznica there is a Banja Koviljaca wich has huge healing powers ^__^
There was a strong earth quake in December in Croatia, that was felt in the region. I have no idea if that caused the crack though.
No. The crack was there long before.. and gonna be there for a long time..
The cathedral is not an earthquake its just old, and it is still working its not closed
My nice hometown :)
it is not Norther Serbia. it is Vojvodina. Belgrade is in northern Serbia. just to clarify
"you will get a chill" hahah
3:20 Answer to your question is Yes. We wear thick wool socks or slippers (or both:).
Because babushka says: "Cold (illness/sickness) came from floor/ground, you need to wear socks (that babushka made) and slippers"
If you don`t buy our traditional wool socks and leave Serbia, babushka will be sad :)
babushka? wool socks? what nonsense you are talking about?
@@colinafobe2152 google is your friend :) google: serbia thick wool socks

The crack on the cathedral isn’t caused by an earthquake (earthquakes are not really a thing here). I don’t know the real reason but it’s probably just time☺️ loved your video, Subotica is great, my hometown
Thank you!
Lol .1.5 hour on the bus .....how long time? ..I don't really know actually...1.5 hour on the bus
🤣🤣🤣
If you don't use slippers I will tell on you to my Grandma. You can't walk inside with outdoor shoes, and even more important YOU CAN'T GO BAREFOOTED. So use damn slippers says old lady
Best pizza in whole Subotica. Hahaha.. 😂😂🍕
Hahaha! Thanks for watching
The synagogue was renovated with significant Hungarian support.
Minden fejleszés ami Vajdaságban történik, magyar, vagy úniós támogatásokkal történik.. nem meglepő, hogy a fővárosukba özönlik a tőke...
Woooow 👍🍀🍀🍀🍀🇷🇸👏
Subotica is actually the largest village in Europe.

Why do you drink those industrial awful beers man?
Vojvodina is serbian region famous as former richest agricultural region of Habsburg/Austrian empire.
Later Austro-hungarian empire, but basicaly austrian, royal family is german.
Hungarians, Serbs, Slovaks, Poles and other Slavic people, they are people of second order in the empire.
Ok, Hungarians is lets say 1b order, others are 2nd.
After fall of empire, Serbs proclamed unity with rest of Serbia and it is today Vojvodina.
Basicaly, Serbs from Vojvodina, it is Serbs from central Serbia setled in Vojvodina in XV, XVI and XVII century by austrian empress Maria Teresia, famous by nick-name Sisi.
Their main task is to protect empire from Ottomans, to be human wall on the border between two empires.
So, one half of Serbs fights in ottoman army, other half in austrian, the most fights for serbian army against both.
Basicaly, Serbs from Vojvodina is the most resposible for modern serbian state, they makes moderns serbian state as it is today.
It is mostly very educated people studing in Viena and Gratz and after unity, most of them became very important people in serbian govermant, educational system, religious people,...
Stop spreading lies. There was no such thing as Serbs in Ottoman Army.

@@markoobradovic9799 It is serbian nationalistic propaganda, official history says XVI and XVII century mostly. Ottoman army is full of Serbs. As serbian vasal army as part of ottoman army + stolen christian kids from their parents for elite ottoman units called Janjichari. .

There was no such thing as Serbian vassal army. Serbs and Serbia fought against Ottomans harder than any other European nation.
Schöne alte österreichische Stadt.
Unlike other religions Jews charge entrance fee.
Vojvodina is pretty much the Hungary of Serbia.
Vojvodina is croatia 🇭🇷✊🏿
Sta lupetas? Ako nisi imao nesto pametno da napises nisi trebao ni da lupetas.
