- Machine Head vocalist Robb Flynn took guitar lessons and vocal lessons to help them get to the next level with their new album Unto The Locust, and he said Mayhem and Iron Maiden are to thank for that.
How to sound like Robb Flynn;
1) Grow badass facial hair
Are you fucking kidding me? The album is a masterpiece! It's the best thing they have ever done. It's beautiful and aggresive at the same time. It's much more mature than everything they have ever done. It's just amazing.
Robb Flynn is like the Dave Grohl in metal!
I think it's great that Flynn's pushed himself further as a musician, after The Blackening I wouldn't have thought he'd have anywhere left to push himself to! I thought some people would dislike the idea of Flynn taking singing and classical guitar lessons...but not one dislike (yet!) Bring on "Unto The Locust", I hope it smashes the charts apart and shows people that there's still great rock and metal out there. Modern music needs that.
Robb's vocal lessons really show on the album- his voice sounds stronger than it has ever been on any single Machine Head album in my opinion -it was fucking amazing on every other album though (mainly The Blackening).

I totally like the new album, and I cannot really decide which one is better The Blackening or Unto the Locust, since I need much time to look back and say ,, Yeah, instant classic'', but I feel like Machine Head grew up and this is shown in Rob's vocals, in the lyrics and in the emotion and style flowing into the music. I'm just proud of them

Hay anyone knows why he wasn't at Mayhem fest in Oklahoma? In flames had to cancel cause somebody was sick,Megadeth's Dave Mustaine was in a injury. but why was Machine not there? I love those guys!

I've never heard a less inspired intro to the self-titled "epic" of an album. That intro melody....they're not even trying, clearly.

Of course he took vocal lessons, it's plain to hear. He's never sounded this strong.

He can sing, and those kinds of screams take practice. So, he's good. Very good.
