      I never can get enough of this song! When someone went to my MySpace page THIS was what they heard. You are SO right, Teri... I consider it a tour de force! In fact, one of my fondest memories is a wknd roadtrip to see them in WI (during a blizzard and getting stranded at a truck stop; sleeping on the floor of the gas station) yanno, just your basic, dedicated Firm fanatic!

    These post Zeppelin collaborations with top artists that Page did, offers a tantalising glimpse into alternate versions of a band that Jimmy was destined to create after The Yardbirds. It could have been any one of a number of superb singers like Rogers, Terry Reid , David Coverdale or whoever. Doesn’t matter what the band was called, or who was in it along with Page, it would’ve been hugely successful. Jimmy had a vision I think , which could have been expressed in any number of ways and gone down several different routes.

    No doubt one of the best Rock combinations in history. This combination which I was fortunate to see in Philadelphia is what true rock is all about. Paul's distinctive vocals range and pitches are always crisp and clear. There is no doubt what he is saying when he sings, there is no lazy vocals here as well as Pete and repeat then chorus like other rock bands. Even his choruses are never sung the same way twice in any of their songs. Jimmy isn't what he is made up to be in my opinion; Granite he had his moments but he wasn't dumb enough to turn down gigging with Paul when the opportunity presented itself. I by no means think Jimmy is not a good musician, He just isn't at the top of the list for my taste.

    I think Page does things just to make people wonder, in a good way I mean. I read an article once where he said he didn't know scales yet I doubt if there was a scale he DIDN'T know.Watch him play for 5 minutes is enough to realize he does. I also read that he "couldn't" do barre chords, yet I have seen him do them often including here. I sometimes wonder if he forgets that he knows damn near everything worth knowing? Brilliant!

    • @ego3_music
      @ego3_music 3 роки тому

      Actually page never do full barrè chords, he does them or with the tumb on the E or he does a powerchord without the full barrè. Nothing to weird for a mostly self taught blues based guitarist. A lot of blues /rock guitarists of the same era have the same "deficit"

    • @bws1971
      @bws1971 2 роки тому +1

      I read that article. He was dripping with sarcasm. This was when EVH had just hit the scene, and the musical press was tripping all over themselves as if speed of play were the sole criterion defining a great guitarist. He was prickly in this interview. I love Page. His legacy has much greater breadth and depth than EVH's, and I really do appreciate and respect what EVH brought to music

    Atlanta, the Firm's 1st tour.
    My hero couldn't make it through this song. Detuned for effect and couldn't get it back in tune. Threw his hands up and walked off stage.
    Drove 4.5 hrs to see him.
    Still bummed.
    He was sh*tfaced.
    He hits several clams here
