I absolutely LOVE this ride. one of the best rides in the world just simply for the sheer enjoyment and nostalgic purposes you get from seeing these blasts from the past! it also shows the kids of today what they are missing with today's movies
coasterollie When the two cars leave at the same time, the first car continues on to the old west scene. During that scene, the car stops and an old west cowboy (aka the bank robber, like Mugsy thinks is being yelled at her) takes over. That way the cars don't get backed up because each car is not stopping at the gangster scene. Also it makes for more than one experience when you ride the ride.
By the end of 2016, they should really redo the montage and maybe even the ride, so many great movies has passed as so many are nearing it's time to shine.
I agree. They could probably at least extend it. I always felt the horror movies section was way too short by being in that one corner before the Tarzan part
it used to when the ride first opened. I remember riding it with the alien's big reveal being from the ceiling directly over the middle of the car. but they decided it was too intense for small children so they changed it.
@SuperTwilightfan09 Thanks. I can't find any videos of that bit though. Want to see what happens. Which scene do the drivers swap back for the first train while the second one is in the Indiana Jones bit?
i was sittting on the far right side and when the gangster walked past me to get the jewel i said hi sir and he gave me the hairy eyeball and i flipped lol
@Grooovemonkey2121 the dude at 3:18 is the great actor James Cagney. He played in Yankee Doodle Dandy, several gangster movies and several other black and white movies
@coasterollie yes they do have another scene where the drivers switch...there's a cowboy scene right ahead of the gangster scene....i used to work at WDW :)
They did not cut the ending movie montage permenetly this video was made in 2011 and I've been on this ride loads of time after this time and they still do it
i went on this when i was 6 moral: Cover your child's eyes when they put the tnt into the bank and when that lady is holding a gun ............DON'T LOOK UP!!! LOL
Can I ask a question. When I went on it two trains left the station at the same time. The other one was slightly ahead but when we got to the gangster scene the other train in front went off ahead while we stopped and had the scene played out in this video. We didn't see the other train till the end where they go side by side and watch the video. Where does the other car go and do they have a different scene where the drivers switch over? Can't find out anywhere. Thanks if you can help. :)
I think the first car will go on ahead while they stop where the gangsters switch in the video. the other train goes to the western scene and they do a switch there. Again, I think that is what happens. it makes sense
+Mylies The pig I know it's a good ride and I fairly enjoyed it actually. But I was like 9 last I rode this and wasn't a big fan of horror stuff. I always hid my face in my hoodie on rides with even a hint of a scare. Now, I can ride that thing no problem-
well...they got a dedicated ride just for Star Wars at Hollywood Studios so it didn't need a "nod" on The Great Movie Ride. never mind, scratch that. Indy has a stunt show AND a nod on this ride so...YEAH! where's Star Wars' scene Disney??
oh my lol gotta tell this story so about 6 years ago I went on this ride with my family and it got stuck in the jungle part for like an hour and it kept going on repeat so George and the Jungle kept swinging by like AAAHHHHHAAAAA funny at first but after 2 hours it can become a lil annoying lool oh god we didn't get back on this ride until last year XD
This ride was pretty good, except for one thing in the que. OK, so you know how some of the lineup goes through a fake movie theater? And the theater shows clips from movies? Well, one clip was some strange clip of some man lying in some kind of white compartment, and shaking EXTREMELY violently. I have NO idea what movie this is from, and I don't even know why, but it just scared the shit out of me. Also in the clip was that classic cartoon sound effect of the dizzy shaking noise. The one that goes YOYOYOYOYOYYO
Can someone explain the two different experiences I am hearing about. I am going with someone who is startled by gun shot noises and what not. If the gangster scene can be skipped how?
They normally run 2 vehicles through the attraction at the same time. Which experience you have is determined by if you are in the front or rear vehicle. The 2 vehicles stop at the same time, but in different sets with a door in between the 2, so you only see your experience.
For me, the mafia girl didn't steal the ride. In the Clint Eastwood part, a cowboy steals the ride and then a building explodes, you can actually feel the heat. But everyone was quiet since... it was kinda corny.
It's a good ride just not as great as it seams. You're lucky I have always wanted to go to Disneyland. I guess I can't complain i'm going to Disney this weekend.
I absolutely LOVE this ride. one of the best rides in the world just simply for the sheer enjoyment and nostalgic purposes you get from seeing these blasts from the past!
it also shows the kids of today what they are missing with today's movies
This ride is so fun. Walt Disney World Rocks!!!!!
I went on this almost 20 years ago. Only movies I remembered were the Tarzan and Casablanca scenes.
This ride was one of my personal highlights during my trip nearly 10 years ago. I just loved every bit of it.
I had this cast member as a host on this ride once. He's awesome.
Props to tour guide and gangster girl for driving while not looking on the road
I love The Great Movie Ride.
What a classic ride..
I cried at the end of this ride last year!! Can not wait to go again!!
Daniel Brockman bruh i commented that 4 years ago...
When I went on this ride someone turned around and shouted WHAT YOU LOOKIN AT it scared me out of my skin
You should. This ride has no comparison to other Rollar Coasters and stuff like that But it is in my opinion the best family ride there is!
The animatronics are fantastic! Gotta love Disney Imagineers. (My dream job, haha)
This is my favorite ride at the Hollywood Studios.
Same
as
Can't wait to go here in late July. Looks so dreamy and fairytale like.
Until the Aluen part
I love how the movies on this ride are the greatest movies of all time. Funny how star wars isn't there LOL
i love this ride, it's so freaking old haha!
The ride is a masterpiece.. Love it.
I remember this one, I love the history of movies!
That actually makes a lot of sense
A ride that is a sit down ride and is enjoyable :)
Holy crap! This looks amazing.

I never knew that actually. I always got the western one
I always love the great movie ride since 1989 to 2017. My room in The Mickey Room.
looks like a beast ride
I went onto The great movie ride at disney's Hollywood studios when I was little
they should have made this ride for California Adventure
much agreed!
They originally planned to.
Omg i loved this ride
yeah..they changed it so instead of going into the bad neighborhood, you go straight to alien..i think. I was there the June 2012.
My favorite part is Alien
when I rode this, the last screen overhead showed scenes from a ton of movies through the years, ending with disney cartoons
She said jersey that's ware I live
The Alien part used to scare me when I was little. xD
My favorite.
By the end of 2016, they should really redo the montage and maybe even the ride, so many great movies has passed as so many are nearing it's time to shine.
I agree. They could probably at least extend it. I always felt the horror movies section was way too short by being in that one corner before the Tarzan part
+DaRadicalLarry is it in disney land
Lpspapergirl It's at Disney World.
DaRadicalLarry is it only at disneyworld
Lpspapergirl It is
well, they realy should make it in epcotCenter.
amo esa atracción es muy bonita y nostalgica
This was AWESOME!!!!
Kaleb Levermore-Rich,i've been saying that for years, at least the alien horror genre is still respected at the parks.
it used to when the ride first opened. I remember riding it with the alien's big reveal being from the ceiling directly over the middle of the car. but they decided it was too intense for small children so they changed it.
I rode a ride very similar to this (might be this one) when I was like 4 or 5 at Disney world and I was scared shitless.
I rode this ride in April and the giant alien scared the crap out of me.
I remember muppet vision it was so cool and the honey I shrunk the kids park and I got left there on time
@SuperTwilightfan09 Thanks. I can't find any videos of that bit though. Want to see what happens. Which scene do the drivers swap back for the first train while the second one is in the Indiana Jones bit?

@Grooovemonkey2121 the dude at 3:18 is the great actor James Cagney. He played in Yankee Doodle Dandy, several gangster movies and several other black and white movies
There are some legal issues with MGM that are more than likely keeping them from bringing it there
bring it to california adventure!
Gonna try that when I go in a month!
Hey they have Muppet Vision 3D,Toy Story Mania, and Star Tours:The Adventures Continue
@coasterollie yes they do have another scene where the drivers switch...there's a cowboy scene right ahead of the gangster scene....i used to work at WDW :)
I heard they are supposed to Redo this ride with some of the newer films
YAY! Wall Alien!
I remember when I went and I was 5. I was in the front and scared out of my mind.
I am always in front every time I ride this
wow that is really cool
They did not cut the ending movie montage permenetly this video was made in 2011 and I've been on this ride loads of time after this time and they still do it
During the wizard of oz part, it sounded like the munchkins said "the wicked bitch is dead"
Good ride sorta creepy sometimes but really good
i went on this when i was 6 moral: Cover your child's eyes when they put the tnt into the bank and when that lady is holding a gun ............DON'T LOOK UP!!! LOL
When the Witch's smoke started, and the fire flickered, the lights in my room started flickering.
:) loved this ride
Can I ask a question. When I went on it two trains left the station at the same time. Where does the other car go and do they have a different scene where the drivers switch over? Can't find out anywhere. Thanks if you can help. :)
They must have changed it since I was there in 2007
Only reason I ever went on this was for the Alien.. except last time I went on the alien didn't come out from the ceiling..
I wish they would build an Alien ride at Hollywood. Maybe an indoor themed
I think the first car will go on ahead while they stop where the gangsters switch in the video. the other train goes to the western scene and they do a switch there. Again, I think that is what happens. it makes sense
I love this ride, the xenomorph is in it
I had nightmares that night because of the scene where the grab the gem-
+Mylies The pig I know it's a good ride and I fairly enjoyed it actually. But I was like 9 last I rode this and wasn't a big fan of horror stuff. I always hid my face in my hoodie on rides with even a hint of a scare. Now, I can ride that thing no problem-

This was pretty fun :)
Is this in Hollywood or Orlando?
Daniela Saffran lol, hollywood studios park at Disneyworld, in Orlando
Leafy: *eats Yolecake while on ride*
@sharpproductions What is your favorite ride at WDW?
oh my lol gotta tell this story so about 6 years ago I went on this ride with my family and it got stuck in the jungle part for like an hour and it kept going on repeat so George and the Jungle kept swinging by like AAAHHHHHAAAAA funny at first but after 2 hours it can become a lil annoying lool oh god we didn't get back on this ride until last year XD
It's still there. They just edited it out.
When i went a couple years ago and there was the alien part i screamed so loud that the guy thought i got hurt XD
This ride was pretty good, except for one thing in the que.
OK, so you know how some of the lineup goes through a fake movie theater? And the theater shows clips from movies? Makuta Miserix Alien.
I never knew there was a live action Tarzan but The Wizard of Oz wasn't Disney though.
+Valerie Vargas Hollywood Studios was MGM studios and many of the films were made by them.
Time to make it longer! =)
What happened to the movie montage at the end? :(
It has ALWAYS been the right hand side. With the the smoke*
@willyoman3561 what do find beast about the ride
What movie is the gangster scene from?
Your thinking of Universal Studios....
Lucky, I want to go to disneyland.
The thumbnail photo looks like a team fortress 2 harvest map
You wanna go on a great movie ride. 2 words UNIVERSAL BACKLOT
i think they need to add more modern movies in it cause those are so old and its always the same so its becomes quite dull
rip
Who else thinks Back to the Future deserved a place on this ride?
at the alien part only i saw a aliens head on the wall and that big black hole in the aliens part i thought that a huge alien was gonna pop out
THEY DIDN'T SHOW THE THINGS~~!!! AT 16:25
Wat things
Actually, I assume the person who made the video cut it out.
Both experiences have gun shots. The only differences are in the Western scene
is this ride scary
For me, the mafia girl didn't steal the ride. In the Clint Eastwood part, a cowboy steals the ride and then a building explodes, you can actually feel the heat. But everyone was quiet since... it was kinda corny.
Jurassic Park?
I want on that ride
Is that a boat or what??
It's like Universal Studios, only without the sell-out 3D simulation rides...
It's a good ride just not as great as it seams. You're lucky I have always wanted to go to Disneyland. I guess I can't complain i'm going to Disney this weekend.
ya, and i never went under that little theatre thing that said "GREAT MOVIE RIDE" on the ride
So sad it’s gone now
