Autumn Wolanin Absolutely. They took out The Sorcerer’s Hat, The Great Movie Ride, American Idol and Disney’s Magic of Disney Animation. Disappointing that they withdrew them. So many great Disney attractions, so little time
@@dev.1359 The Park lost it's identity & charm (we get it will have Disney IPs but now it's wasteland for Toy Story & other IPs that not necessary Hollywood)
Back in 2007, they used to have actors and audience members participate in that opening WW2 set and create a scene about a bombing complete with all the effects. Me and my sister in laws husband were chosen to play two bumbling ship mechanics to add some comedy relief and they dressed us in waterproof period costumes. I was completely into it, falling over the ship for laughs but he wasn’t into it at all and tried to stay out of sight 😔. Shame it doesn’t exist now
I did that too with my brother! I was at Disney for 16th birthday (instead of a sweet 16 party) and got to go on the set as well. The cast member said they wanted me to get a magical experience and that was in 2011.
I am so pissed they got rid of this. Hollywood Studios and the only thing that really resembles "studios" was the backlot tour. Ok, it was outdated and needed refreshing but replacing it with Star Wars? :o
Just like everything else, when was the last year MTV was actually music television. It’s like the end of Cassino who is talking about how the corporations to go over and the glory days are over, now go look at an LED screen to be happy or No Disney For You!
19:37 this was the furthest back I could think of as my earliest memory ever, I was 2years old and was Scared for life from this part of the tour lol I remember it like it was yesterday lol I’m 27 now
Disney needs to build a retro park with nothing but all of the great rides they use to have all in one park! They have gotten rid of so many good rides and attractions over the years.
I think that Disney should have a Museum and Have All the Props and Set Pieces Used in Disney Movies, Like, Costumes, and other stuff, Like the Costume that The Late, Great, Living Legend Actor Bob Hoskins (R.I.P - 2014) and The Living Legend Actor Christopher Lloyd, and Actress Joanna Cassidy Wore in the 1988 Disney Movie "Who Framed Roger Rabbit", The Shrink Machine that was Used in The 1989 Movie "Honey I Shrunk The Kids", the 1992 Movie "Honey I Blew Up the Kid", and The 1997 Movie "Honey We Shrunk Ourselves", Etc. Etc.
They were both have almost the same thing, the Paris (France) version was a bit longer while the Orlando (USA) version a bit shorter comparing the two of them.
This Backlot Tour used to have a lot more. When I first went in 1998 they had the Home Alone house and many other things, but they had to remove that stuff since the addition of the Lights, Motor, Action! I think they need to add more...
During one of our family trips to Disney in the early 2000's, both of my uncles got to participate in the water show at the beginning. I remember it was one of the funniest things I had ever seen at the time. I was only probably 8 years old at the most, but it was still hilarious. Makes me wish we had recorded it back then. :)
This was such a great attraction, and totally on point with the whole theme of the park. Such a shame that it, the Great Movie Ride, and other attractions went away leaving the park a shell of its former self.
exactly what I was thinking! It seem as though Disney often forgets that the park is called *HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS.* This attraction was my absolute favorite back then. Great movie ride was a great one too.
Unfortunately the Backlot tour we have today is a shadow of it's former self. It's been vastly shortened since the addition of Light's Motors Action, which replaced Residential Street (which featured recreations of famous sitcom houses), and when Streets of America became pedestrianised, this part of the tour was also removed. Back when the park opened, this was the flagship ride, and was over an hour long.
I had the opportunity to visit all the Disney parks in 2014. I remember thinking that there were less rides here than at the others. I'm stumped as to how I missed this one. I thought I combed the park with a fine tooth comb
This used to be such an important part of the Disney [-MGM] Studios visit. I was a CP back in 2006 and it needed a major overhaul back then. Hopefully with all the changes coming it gets a much needed update.
they removed the section where you go by the houses they used to film Golden Girls and Empty Nest; they probably tore them down to build Lights, Motor, Action Stunt Show; also, there used to be way more vehicles in the boneyards!
Lol I like how these Disney fans say that Universal Copied Disney with the Backlot tour when Universal started the backlot tour in 1966 and Disney did it in 1989 smh
hideous apple lol i like how people go out their way to comment about a place coping another place but in reality it doesn’t matter they have more money then we will ever have smh
This is an interesting tour, because you get to see plenty of sets that were filmed on TV and used for movies a long time ago. Plus, you get to see another set where "Judas" by Lady Gaga was filmed. Sorry to spoil the magic for you, but you only see them at Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando.
I went on this in 1991 when I was eight, and it was gone when I went back in 2019. I missed so much. There used to be a Honey I shrunk the Kids bee you could ride on a green screen.
+BruffDaddy I think with the addition of Lights, Motors, Action! they took out all of residential street (where the Golden Girls house was). Which was really kinda sad.
I wish they didn’t get rid of this tour. I don’t remember any of what you see before you get on the tram though. I’m not sure if it changed from when I was there in 1992 vs when this was filmed.
Yeah i went here as a kid and they havrnt changed anything except some of the movie props like the hannah montana chicken house and stuff in the prop room. Other then that it was the same.

I'm actually ok with this ride closing down but what I hope is that they still keep the villains exhibit you see at the end of the tour. They should move it elsewhere in the park and that in my opinion was the best part of the attraction. RIP
When I went on this back in 08 I thought is was going to be like the one at universal or even better but it was a lot worse. They really need to add something substantial for it to be worth keeping.
I don't know if this was ever a popular attraction, but I wouldn't mind seeing this go to make room for something for Pixar or a whole new land. Most likely not Carsland but who knows I wouldn't mind a monster's inc roller coaster or a Crushes Coaster for DLP

Because humans are dumb and can't keep their mouths shut,so by doing a voice over, it points out the tour on time, every time.
