Well do you think you will make it to the age of 99?
(BETTY WHITE did!)
Aww so cute
This is the wonderful part of this day. It's getting me through challenging times. I am a anglophile. My husband is ill. a fan of the fab four The Beatles. I love Roald Dahl and J.R.R.Tolkien. my favorite authors. I will gladly subscribe.
tolkien is the greatest
The most wonderful story I've ever heard on youtube. I knew of this author but had never read him. The narrator I liked very much also, as this is a crucial aspect of enjoyment. But the story takes it away! Thank You, I will look for more.
Glad you enjoyed it! You are very welcome 🙏
Read just yesterday that Wes Anderson has created a movie based on this story starring Benedict Cumberbach and other luminaries ; can’t wait!
So appreciate a story with no ads! Thank you ❤!
Glad you enjoy it! Your welcome 🙏
The greatest redemption story of the human heart I've heard in decades!
It’s wonderful isn’t it. Glad you enjoyed it 😀🙏
This story is one of his masterpieces. He goes three stories deep, weaves in a bit of reality with fiction, and totally transports you. Love this one.
What a wonderful story! I enjoyed every detail of it in a sleepless night. Reading the text at the same time turned it into an even more complete experience. Thank you.
You are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed it! 🙏
I listen to your adiobooks when I am going to sleep, it is the only thing that gets me to go to sleep. The wonderful story of Henry sugar is my favorite.

If you witness a sudden increase in the views, that's because this video was suggested to us by Lavette 😎✌ Greetings, and thanks for uploading this

Hi there, who is Lavette? And what is this group to do with? Thanks 🙏
@@lewiskirk8289 She suggested we read this book and gave a link to you. Her youtube is @lavette 916. Hard to describe who she is lol. A very interesting woman with occult knowledge I would say.She was talking about chakras and how to move up the ladder and I guess this book in a way eludes to that.
Yes and Victoria cotton recommended also who is also connected to Lavette . One love for the good of our higher selves our hearts as light as a feather 🪶
Having read (and Re-read) this as a kid, I've spent loads of time trying to accomplish seeing without my eyes. Roald Dahl is brilliant at creating in us the longing for the fantastic and impossible.
I agree with you 100% there is so much magic in all of his stories. It really gets the mind wondering and the full capacity of human potential.
You might enjoy the video below. It's my commentary of the book on a new channel I am beginning to develop.

Thanks for doing this Lewis, so hard to find stories for kids to just sit and listen to. It's really important for children to just sit quietly, it's very much missing in society today. My son (7) has thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Roald Dahl stories, he's not much of a reader but these have given him a reason to want to read. I don't think it'll ever be his favourite thing to do but at least this way he's not missing out.
Thanks for sharing. Yes, these AudioEbooks help people that might not be confident readers to gain access to these wonderful stories. There are so many Dahl classics for him to enjoy. Has he read any others?
I totally agree about the importance of stillness in children.
Toniebox is a creation for children that bring stories to life., worth checking out .
Thank You Lavette 🙌🌠🔥😌💚💙💜 👑
Was hooked from the start. Stayed hooked. The end.
Glad you enjoyed the reading! 😀👍
I say the man who could see objects without using his eyes was inspired when Roald Dahl was blind for a whole month when he was in the Raf and crashed in Libya and stayed in a hospital there. Anybody else thinks that theory could be true
Just discovered your YT channel. Wow....what an amazing story. I had planned on listening to just a page or two and then enjoying the rest after doing a few morning tasks and making some coffee. That didn't happen...I was immediately hooked, listened straight through reading along with the transcript. Now it is lunch time, still sitting in the same spot and no coffee. Thank you so much!! Definitely am subscribing. ❤

I'm gonna keep this story. I will listen to this story many times. I'm listening to the beginning of the story now. But I definitely like Henry, he's very funny. Rich Henry is very much like a poor Russian. I always thought rich people acted differently. This story should be very interesting.
Superb quality...Im grateful for your patience and love for this book demonstrated.
I’m glad you enjoyed the AudioEbook 🙏
I am disheartened by the fact that you are lonely. I can understand that, at 82, a lot of your friends and family have probably passed on. I hope your loneliness isn't due to us living in a culture that has a disregard for people your age.
I respect my elders, and heed their acquired wisdom.
I guess that means I'll listen to this book.
This is very interesting I love it! I listen to you every single night with my headphones and I can’t stop!👍
Thanks for listening. Glad that you enjoy the readings. 😀👍
Wow, lovely story. I am sick in bed finally on the mend from the flu. Thank you reading this great story, sometimes it to much work watching tv, much nicer to relax and listen to story read by a wonderful narrator. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! You are very welcome. Glad you are feeling better 🙏❤️
Hey thank you! It’s nice to be out of bed today. Having the windows open and airing out the house from everyone being sick ( and a nice stack of dirty dishes and laundry washing waiting for me) But I wanted to say I listened to The Twits last night and was cracking up, the voices you do are wonderful! I definitely recommend you! When Mrs Twitch got the shrinks, he sent her up with all those balloons I got a great laugh from that and the wormy spaghetti to, I would of loved to prank that on my little bratty brother back in the day as we were always pranking each other.

According to the British inflation calculator, £20 in 1935 is worth £1,431.75 today
Since there is no mention as to the date of his first winnings, if I suppose this happens 20 years after the date in the notebook, then, Henry’s first win (and throw away over his balcony) of £6,600 in 1955, that would be worth £174,301.77 in 2020. No wonder the crowd down below were truly amazed at how valuable the banknotes were!
What an interesting bit of information! Thanks for looking into this for us.
Roald Dahl does allude to their value in the story when he says something like, 'many people had never seen a £20 note before', but of course he could never have been as detailed as your inflation information. Thanks again.
I forgot to include that £174,301.77 divided by £20 is £8,715.09
Of course, in the book he read - it is 20 years earlier, so I had to look into it....and £6,600 in 1935 (earlier I calculated it at 1955) is worth £472,478.38 today
...divided by 20, that £20.00 would be worth £23,623.92 today..... so, imagine (dumbfounded expression on my own face right now!), if one recipient had received theirs 20 years earlier, and kept their note in a frame, and passed it down through the family, today, that note would be worth a staggering ££23,623.92 at 12:02 AM August 07 2020.
I have to mention, that during the lockdown, when all the smaller and medium sized shoppes in my downtown were closed here in Guelph, Ontario, that enormous money-grabber big box store based in the states starting with the letter ‘w’ was allowed to stay open because they had food. Countless Canadians shopped there, and they bought EHHHHHHHHverything, instead of just food ~ not giving a rat’s behind about the national/local economy. I would imagine that this time next year, our canadian dollar will be worth about $0.10. What a heartbreaking pill to swallow.
That was a long story and I almost gave up on it because it seemed so long and knew that it must come do a bad end. However, I am glad I stuck it out because now I can go to sleep with all those warm happy children in my head thanks to the idea of never giving up on someone .
Well done for persevering with it. I’m happy that it was all worth it in the end. 🙏❤️
A truly powerful & inspiring story.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀👍

for some reason they made the amount won £30,000 instead of £3000, in the 2023 adapation. Did anderson not think that viewers would not be aware of inflation?

Hi
Very Inspiring, Yoga is a big thing, and Roald Dahl managed to convey it in a very good way! Thanks for reading this out for me Lewis :)
You're welcome! I have been interested in Yoga, siddhis and occult powers for years. I agree Roald Dahl made them very accessible through this story. And the fact that Henry Sugar set out wanting to achieve the powers for selfish ends, but after all of the practice and attaining the powers, he had a more noble life calling. Beautiful story!

The story tells us right at the beginning that Henry is 41 which isn't a youngster, and that he is also 6 feet 2 inches which is very tall.
When the policeman questions Henry he calls him a "young" idiot and also a "little" twerp which also seems a bit out of 'cinque' with the picture Dahl is painting here. Just an observation. ✌️👋
And a good observation 👍
