    Just so you guys know, Beyincé is pronounced BEE-yon-sAy in French-which is why I pronounced the last name that way. That’s also why Tina changed the spelling of her last name. Deréon is also pronounced Dir-rõn in French. (My French teacher taught me this in high school) just a little fun fact. 😉

    • @EAY2211
      @EAY2211 3 роки тому +93

      French is my native language and I remember reading that “Beyincé/Beyoncé” is a Louisiana Creole variant of the french surname “Boyancé”.
      “Deréon” is a modification of “de (of) Rouen” which is pronounced “ Roo - Aan”. Rouen is a city in France 🙂

      @@EAY2211 yup! Beyonce used to pronounce her up coming Dereon line “Dawaun” back in like 04 05. I think they wanted to say it different to make it sound more jazzy. Real fans know so thanks for clarifying.

      I'm a french speaker and none of these pronunciations are actually correct 😅 Maybe in an ancient french they were, idk. But nowadays, we wouldn't pronounce Beyoncé and Beyincé the same way...

    In reading the comments, the thing I see most is this; "The clothes were too tacky, loud, flashy, cheap materials, etc." The reason their brand failed was this--Bey and Tina had a myopic view of fashion. Very Southern--very New Orleans/Texas. Their take on fashion was regional not global. I think they underestimated their prospective clientele's knowledge of materials, stitching, and the like. Many of those pieces were cheap and cheesy, with a lot of bling. When one buys quality you will pay, but its also worth it. One commands respect when the quality of your clothing shows. Believe it or not its one of the first things ppl assess when meeting for the first time. Think about it: first dates, job interviews, meeting prospective in-laws, even going to court!! I intend no shade towards my southern sisters coz there are some *Bad Bewitching Beauties down south.* But Tina's view of fashion (starting w/the costumes for DC which I thought were cute designs, but was never a fan of the materials she chose) had its hits and misses.

    I loved how Tina styled Beyonce but even as a teen I always thought House of Dereon was BEHIND a year in fashion. I wouldn't even consider myself a fashionista and even I didn't want to be caught dead wearing some of their peices. It just always seemed Corny. I can't explain it. I wanted to like it so bad because I was a huge beyonce fan but that just wasn't enough, chile..

    I really think Tina and B knew they would sell it before it stopped selling in stores and made a profit. Many labels do that. They had the clothes made overseas and jacked up the price, made a huge profit, then sell it off to discount stores.
