  • Wilde Pickups: Bill Lawrence’s Noise-fee Design-Series #1
The noise-free pickups that we are producing today was first launched with the L280 design, for both strat and tele in 1996. Bill added later, the L200, L290SL, and L298 series. This is an introductory video talking a little about the design and showing what the strat noise-free design looks like. There are a lot of fun details to talk about, so we decided to make a series of the Noise-free videos, this is the first!
We will do videos for the different designs and for strat and tele. Please leave a comment if you have a specific question you would like us to answer and we just might do a video just answering questions!
Thanks for watching our videos and for supporting us at Wilde Pickups!

Bill Lawrence stuff has always been quiet, powerful, articulate, with clarity. Best of all - NO BATTERIES! Also, affordable price. Keep up the good work, and taking care of Bill's legacy.

My next purchase will be L280's. I have L200s in some guitars, and they are fine. But I need to hear how the L280s will do with dirty blues (think SRV). The 200' are warm and friendly, but for blues I need a little more sass ;-) I usually go to HS-2's for that but I'm willing to try the 280' also :-) I have 1 guitar with L45s, and they are clear and bright (like EMGs) but too sterile, however I try to set them up (pots, caps). I played in a big gospel band, and the L200s worked beautifully there. My mind always go; Thats' a very professional sound! And that's a good thing. For popmusic I'd say L200s, because they are warm, clear, dynamic, a little squishy, vintage in character, great with compression, and NO hum :-)

@MrRhoads26 Good to hear, I already got some 280s in the works. I have two Strats that will have 280n - 200m + humb, and one with 200n - 200m + hum. I might have one strat wit 280n - 280m + hum. depending on the outcome. Life is good ;-)

Are they significantly taller than standard strat pickups?

I recently fitted the l200 and l290 pickups in my strat ..... they are great ... I love them. I would like to know if it is now convenient to remove the copper shield in the pickup cavities that I had done earlier. Could the copper shields in the cavities affect the tone of my pickups?

For an HSS strat which humbucker of yours would match well with l280 neck, l200 middle? What pot values should I use in that application, 250 Or 500?
