Cool Hunting Video: World's Largest Toy Car Collection

In a small building in Beirut, Lebanon sits the largest collection of toy cars in the world-that's over 30,000 model cars and 400 dioramas. On a recent trip to the region, we stopped by and spoke with owner and collector Billy Karam. He walked us through his incredibly numerous possessions, and told stories about the struggles and triumphs he endured in creating his astounding, Guinness Book of World Records-awarded collection.

I read about this collection in the Guinness Book of Records, the number of models then was 27, 777. Back in the early 1980's, a Japanese collector named Noboru Nakajima had a collection of 50,000 models and he wrote two pocket books on his collection and how he built it up. His museum, which opened in Tokyo in 1980, also featured in the 1982 Automobile Year Book of Models. He may have passed away since and his collection may have been broken up. I haven't done a recent count on my collection, some of which is stored away because of lack of space, but it must be about 4,000 or more by now.
