    Impressive H.W. collection! I had a HotWheels/Diecast collectibles store here in 'Vegas a few years back, and a bunch of the kinds of RARITIES in this collection, we had in our showcases. Resin proto's, direct from the designers' own hands, were major hi-lites. As were the likes of a Creamy Pink, Complete, 6-plane SkyShow Set, with box & inst. sheet, Alternate-color Camaros, and Demons in Lime, Yellow, and Orange Enamels, Sunroof-less Custom VW's, a Rear-load Beach Bomb, rare TH Variations, Limited Editions, Convention cars, SEMA show cars,early Redline Blisters, HW's from all around the world, wow, I could go on for a couple hours, But, THESE were the kinds of items that would take a full-grown, 40 y.o.- 50 y.o.+ man and within mere minutes, have them reduced to a wide-eyed 8 y.o. boy all over again. You ain't lived 'till you've seen guys like that, on their knees, crawlin' around with HUGE SMILES on their otherwise somber faces, chasing cars that flew off the track, and lovin' every second of it!! Because, the only thing better than a nice BP or MOC collection, is the LOOSE CARS that you actually put on the track & run, IMHO. An "affordable" collection can easily take on a life of its own, know that!! I have sold 'em for anywhere from $.50c to well over $500+, each, and truly can't remember ever seeing happier customers anywhere else! I still have a few hundred, and counting, and I got my Grandboy collecting now, too! To start him off, for his 3rd B'day, I gave him a nice jump-start-- 300 cars, MIB, from '93 till last year. Yep, He is pretty-much hooked, which is O.K., after all, Who don't like HotWheels?!?!

But u could not see 1 10th of what he had

    • @yakacm
      @yakacm 10 років тому +3

      Totally agree, but these derivative shows don't really care about serious collectors it's more about getting the most ppl watching in the cheapest possible manner to sell the most advertising, I guess the first show like this was the BBC Antiques Road Show, the basic premise is ppl like to know how much shit is worth, and the shows have been getting cheaper and more cheesy ever since, till we end up with this, same thing happened with American Chopper, families in business arguing, there are loads of shows like that now, Ice Road Truckers, there is Ice Everything now, and Deadliest Catch, how many cheesy derivative Deadliest Catch shows are there now, networks see a hit show and emulate it to death, the ultimate show would be something like a show about a guy how appraises the value of old shipping mines in the Arctic, it would be called the Deadliest Ice Mine Hoarders, or some such.

    Hot Wheels is a fun inexpensive hobby. But once I got up to over some 300 vehicles, I decided it was time to part with some because I could see that they would end up starting to take up a lot of room. You'll notice that most people that start collecting are either people whom are retired or people whom got laid off from a very, very boring job like me. I pretty much put this hobby on hold because there's too many retired scalpers in the area and it cuts deep into the fun. Ebay is the only easy way to find stuff and sometimes if you wait long enough you can get a good price on what you want.

    Amazing to see how many different hobbies and collections people have all over the world. The hot wheels collection was awesome. Interesting indeed, I also agree with everyone commenting that the model train collection was worth more. I 100% agree, I think the price should have been wayyy more. At least around double the value which the guy stated, possibly even more, considering the effort and vintage models in mint condition. I don't feel it was a fair price. The model train collection was epic and the layout was phenomenal!!! :)

    Back in 2010 I bought a Hotwheels Bugatti veyron matt red one for .97c at Wal-Mart. 2015 my neighbor had a garage sale and managed to ask him if I could test the water for this Bugatti Veyron and putt up for sale for $100. My neighbor told me I was nuts out my mind. Well from 8 am -2 pm I stood there and helped him sell his stuff along with my Hotwheel. Close to lunch time this guy whose in to super car collection collecting Hotwheel super car offered me $80 for it take it or leave it. Of course I said YES. It made my day.

    Question for Bruce. When I was young I saw a Hot Wheels combo of a wind-up camper trailer canected to a station wagon. The camper had a wheel on the back which you would wind up ( it may have been rubber band powered) by rolling it across the floor. Ounce you are done winding it you would lock the wheel in place and hook it up to the "mother" car. When you were ready you pushed down on the back and let go.
    Do you know what I'm talking about?

    Woaaaaaaaah. That H.W. collection puts me out ta business! I own a lot of limited pieces and rarities, but nothing like that pink v.w. bus! Hot wheels replaced my interest of old school comic collecting after all these dam movies just kept driving up the hobby of key issues and first appearances. I just can't afford a comic book that's 300 dollars when it was only 50 bucks several years ago, and yes, I know about different books under different conditions. I've collected for 23 years. Hot wheels is just an inexpensive hobby when compared. I can buy 5 to maybe 7 good exclusives and limited pieces for 300 dollars. I just hope there's no hot wheels movie projected for a soon-to-be release anytime soon.

    • @Dar70
      @Dar70 10 років тому

      So true. Now that comic movies are so popular and mainstream audiences know who Tony Stark and Steve Rogers etc etc are comics have been moving up in price. Happily i have many that are moving up and can start getting rid of them.....

    • @vaccumsealed
      @vaccumsealed 10 років тому

      Cool Dar. Least u can turn a profit. I just hate it when idiots claim they've known about this character and that one for such a long time, but they know nothing. Its only what the movies have taught em.

    • @Dar70
      @Dar70 10 років тому

      Dee Ray Lol....true that. My brothers wife think shes a comic character expert now. Never read one. She thought we were nerds until the explosion of comic movies. (of course the marvel cinematic universe and the avengers specifically is what as put the mainstream interest into high gear) The scene with Thanos in that film brought up the price of logans run #6 tenfold plus. Now everytime a movie is hinted at to contain a never before used character their first appearance in comics and than some....skyrocket.

    • @vaccumsealed
      @vaccumsealed 10 років тому

      Dar70 yeah, I know man. Well I was always a big fan of gambits, and I hold a nice 9.8 of his first app, but now I heard Channing "pretty boy" tatumn is gonna play em in a motion picture film. That just pisses me off. U can't collect old key issues anymore due to the high price of the hobby simply thanks to the film industry. I quit collecting in 2011. I just can't afford it anymore. The deadpool character surprises me the most. Man, that first app of em was recently selling for 200 plus dollars at my local comic shop!!! 200 BUCKS!!! I remember picking that thing up for 15 bucks several years ago. Granted, it helps make me a profit, but goodness, it also keeps me from being able to buy other issues of good stories and 1st apps. I can't stand people though who think they're a fuckin expert to comics when all they are are posers. Yet, THEY are the kinda hypocrites who use to criticize the fans b4 the movies got crazy.

    I collect anything related to Gerry Anderson and have done so for well over 30 years. I don't consider myself an expert but I did have a very good memory and can recall things from the early days even before I was born in read a lot of books catalogues etc and for some strange reason this information sticks.

    Hot Wheels are much more valuable than model trains, bottles and advertisements...wow.

    • @americanpatriot3667
      @americanpatriot3667 10 років тому

      Well it depends their are a few trains that are very rare from the 50s that are really valuable

      Not exactly.
      With that said, I collect hot wheels, and the value is in the old ones. Hot wheels from the 2000s are not worth a lot, except some treasure hunt cars, but even then it's nothing impressive after the prices have settled down. Everyone and their brothers collect hot wheels.

      hashrulsubzero I have the Hot Wheels Snake and Mongoose funny cars. I've been offered $18,000 for both. I still have them!

      2handsfull Bullshit. They're worth under $500/pair if they are mint 70's redlines. There are plenty of near mint versions well under $100 each. They are pretty common.

      @2handsfull 9 років тому

      yakadee1 So far I'm the only person in the world that still has them in the oringal package. Look that up! Your not going to get any more mint condition than that!

    I agree. they could have made the whole episode on just his collection alone.
    The other thing I am thinking of is ...Hmm where does he live and when are they away on vacation? :P I would want to take out a HUGE insurance policy.
