It’s beautifully done but the dullness of the black gives it uncanny valley for Art Deco, if you know what I mean. High gloss, would have been cool or even silver leaf. But you did a great job.
I think, and this is my opinion, but the minimalistic angular mirror looks best against plain painted surfaces. If you leave the texture of the naturally grainy wood, it would have created a different effect. She removed the original paint because it's not good to keep layering paint as that causes problems with cabinets and peeling over time
Since you asked, I love that you rescued it from its gloopy tomb. Having said that, I would have loved it if an attempt had been made to preserve both the beautiful wood and perhaps even the art deco pattern. It’s a shame that all of that is lost.
You covered all the detail!! Part of the art deco design was the difference in wood color and grain. Now it looks like every other dresser in a furniture store
When I first saw the dresser, I didn’t even realize there was more detailing on it! A bit dark for my personal tastes, but I think you brought new life to an old piece, emphasized that gorgeous line work, and made it really lovely! All I can say is wonderful work!
That was very beautiful wood work hidden under the paint. you did a great job but I thought you were going to use axlight stain to show the pattern of the wood work.
That old mirror would have been killer with the new black finish! Of course, we want the pieces to be functional as well as beautiful, so the new mirror is very restorative!!! Love your work! You are so talented and have such a great eye for the pieces you pick😍
Very nice. I probably would’ve kept a little bit of the natural material showing to give it a little bit of a rustic look though, but all in black it looks just as beautiful the way you did it gives it that Romanian castle Dracula vibe to it. Love it👍🏽
You definitely saved it, but I would have loved to see the original two toned design. When you were done stripping and sanding it down it looked for a second as if they used different hues of wood that were just beautiful.
I love how you saw the quality under all that caked on paint! I would be curious to see a finish that had played up the deco a bit more, say a navy blue and gold in the lined details and maybe gold hardware, but this modern twist with more of a discrete nod to the deco is great too! Great work!
You should do one of these but NOT paint over the beautiful woodwork! The wood under all that gloopy white paint was gorgeous and the damaged mirror gave the whole piece an old, rustic/vintage vibe. The makeover on this piece was vampire-esque with the "coffin" mirror so I can't complain there XD but on another old worn piece, you should do the bare minimum. Lovely work ^^
I think you should have kept the art deco look, by letting the beauty of the inlay show through. In-laying wood is a lot of work. A light stain or various stains may have been a better choice here.
I understand a preference for a lighter finish but I think the black suits this dresser really well and helps the Art Deco design marry with todays homes. I do also understand the value of inlay details. This dresser had no inlay.
My heart broke when you painted over that gorgeous woodgrain. Sure, the mirror is cool, but now the rest of it looks like any other cookie-cutter black dresser. Such a waste of a gorgeous piece, hopefully it survives long enough for someone to find and truly appreciate that grain!
I appreciate that you don’t like the dark finish, but it’s STAIN and not PAINT. The wood grain is still beautifully visible through it and it was sold to somebody who loves this finish in less than 4 hours. Thank you for sharing your thoughts though.
Appreciate your sharing your feelings on this; you are not alone, I'm sure. I think, perhaps, the lighting did the finished result no favors...That it sold so quickly..I am not surprised..I mean, I would have bought it for the mirror alone, even if I hadn't seen the beautiful arte-deco on the chest that got, in effect, covered over! No matter what- -the craftsmanship of this piece is outstanding, I agree. This lady accomplished her vision for her re-finish, and many appreciate that, particularly the fortunate buyer. Thank u for stating how u feel. I like that!
You put a great deal of work stripping this beautiful little dresser. I think I would have stained the woodwork you uncovered with a wash of stain to preserve the workmanship and grain of the wood.
Love the dresser and he stripping, not a fan of the new color. I loved the two tone wood before you stained it again (would look awesome wood stain similar to a Lane Acclaim piece). But I’m sure someone will love it.
The details that popped up when you were sanding was amazing, that stain just covered it right back up. When it comes to unique items with flair and detail, let those features shine. I’m not a fan of that finish either, looks blotchy. But nice find and nice work either way. I love that you got new mirror glass cut for it.
Gorgeous! The only thing I'd like to see differently is an addition of white to the detail lines in the after to make the art deco style pop a bit more.
Very pretty. I really like the coffin mirror and had not known that this was what mirrors like that were called. Makes sense, and I appreciate you explaining while sharing! ☺️
Ahhhh! I love the whole design! SKDN! It makes me think of some other ways that it could be designed if there were more of them! Like maybe some of them in jewel tones and some gold accents to give it that Art deco vibe. Ahhhh! I love it all! Amazing job!!!😁😁😁❤️❤️❤️
I think it turned out beautiful for being painted. I personally don't like painting antique wood unless it's necessary. But yeah definitely a great job!
I don’t know why everyone is whining about the wood being “covered up.” It’s a stain, and I can still see the wood grain. The dark wood really gives a classic Art Deco look and I love it! Brilliant job!!

You did good! Thanks for hour videos. I think it's about time to be inspired. Your works pushes me to try. Thank you
It’s beautifully done but the dullness of the black gives it uncanny valley for Art Deco, if you know what I mean. High gloss, would have been cool or even silver leaf. But you did a great job.
Where can I learn to do all of this?
You did great!
That would be perfect for me ❤❤❤❤
The wood grain was so beautiful, maybe half strength would have been better. But to each their own. Still beautiful.
I agree with you 💯. I really love the fact that you use all natural stuff that’s awesome.
Agreed n it had a beautiful pattern too. Also to each their own 🥰 its still beautiful 😍💕
Agreed I love the dark color but you can't see the details as well so half strength might've been better
My heart sunk when I saw the death of the beautiful wood. Sorry just saying.
I agree.
I'm sad you didn't leave the original detail of the wood. It was gorgeous
Yes! I was so excited to see it coming underneath the paint!
Its a stain.. not a paint
You can actually see the wood detail...
it's still there
In the final shots the stain looks much less opaque, and you can see the grain well.
the fact you took the OG woodwork back then drowned it in that black...
You hunted, toiled, unveiled that incredible wood detail and then....covered it again?
I think, and this is my opinion, but the minimalistic angular mirror looks best against plain painted surfaces. If you leave the texture of the naturally grainy wood, it would have created a different effect. She removed the original paint because it's not good to keep layering paint as that causes problems with cabinets and peeling over time
EXACTLY
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!
And? It’s not yours
I wouldn’t have it in my house or even room.. garage.. 2 bad 2 see being waisted !
The original wood was gorgeous! I would have let the original color show through.
The ancester ruined the furniture by painting over the Art Deco inlays.
And the history repeats right before our eyes.
Since you asked, I love that you rescued it from its gloopy tomb. Having said that, I would have loved it if an attempt had been made to preserve both the beautiful wood and perhaps even the art deco pattern. It’s a shame that all of that is lost.
I really loved the natural maple.
The wood underneath was beautiful
You covered all the detail!! Part of the art deco design was the difference in wood color and grain. Now it looks like every other dresser in a furniture store
I know...this art deco antique went from having so much beautiful potential keeping the wood grain but now it has gone to being flea market clutter.
I think that the mirror part is okay but the rest of it could be better if the front draws had mirror on them too...In my opinion...
agree that contrasting detail was everything. She could've done only partial black idk it lost a lot here
I still see the contrasting colors on the top.
Nope your taste is questionable, what made you think you made great standards
This is actually the one time I would've left the original grain more visible. That would was beautiful
Sorry, not a fan of the color. I liked the natural wood just after you stripped it.
I love that you used eco-conscious products! I couldn't have passed by that coffin mirror myself. Love the black!
It’s giving Wednesday Addams bedroom vibes and I love it!
I thought you were going to do a wiped down black stain so the woodgrain would be more noticeable, I really like seeing the wood more🖤
this 100%!
I really loved the style of the old mirror
Me too, it had a very vintage feel to it
Same
Yes the damaged mirror was interesting but I respect your choice It’s your project TU for sharing
Can I have the old mirror? I love the "damaged" look. 😁
Absolutely gorgeous turn out!
Wow that is gorgeous. Love it!! Art decos one of my fave time periods.
That old mirror would have been killer with the new black finish! Of course, we want the pieces to be functional as well as beautiful, so the new mirror is very restorative!!! Love your work! You are so talented and have such a great eye for the pieces you pick😍
I loved the old mirror but not everyone would have. She did a great job on it!
I would have loved to see the pattern and color of the wood 🥺 but it still looks so much better than before. You still saved it!
This is beautiful
The original wood was so pretty, but everyone has different tastes. It still looks beautiful ❤
Very nice. I probably would’ve kept a little bit of the natural material showing to give it a little bit of a rustic look though, but all in black it looks just as beautiful the way you did it gives it that Romanian castle Dracula vibe to it. Love it👍🏽
Not a huge fan of the black, but the mirror is a coffin, so I get it. Lol. Awesome.
I adore this dresser it would have called to me as well . The redo is amazing I absolutely love your style 💕
Noooo the wood was stunning!!!!
You definitely saved it, but I would have loved to see the original two toned design. When you were done stripping and sanding it down it looked for a second as if they used different hues of wood that were just beautiful.
Your work was absolutely beautiful .
OMG I NEED THIS I WANT TO CRY ITS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING 😍
I was so happy when you stripped it and then when the black stain went on I thought "never mind, moving on".
I love how you saw the quality under all that caked on paint! I would be curious to see a finish that had played up the deco a bit more, say a navy blue and gold in the lined details and maybe gold hardware, but this modern twist with more of a discrete nod to the deco is great too! Great work!
The black and brown pattern you see at the end of the paint stripping process WAS the original. And she just… got rid of it?
It is literally the nicest one I've seen.
The old "damaged" mirror was what gave it so much character.
You should do one of these but NOT paint over the beautiful woodwork! The wood under all that gloopy white paint was gorgeous and the damaged mirror gave the whole piece an old, rustic/vintage vibe. Just beautiful, really.
Love what you have done here. Bringing its original beauty back❤
Very nice job. That mirror is awesome!
I was excited though was being brought back to original. She must been a beauty in her day.
Looks modern and vintage at the same time.... So it must be timeless. Love it.
I loved that wood!!! Such a beautiful piece of furniture. I need a coffin mirror in my life!
My heart broke when you painted over that gorgeous woodgrain. Sure, the mirror is cool, but now the rest of it looks like any other cookie-cutter black dresser. Such a waste of a gorgeous piece, hopefully it survives long enough for someone to find and truly appreciate that grain!

Stunningly Gorgeous… LOVE tha black/finish results!!!👏🏻👏🏻
very nice work. lovely piece now. ❇️
In my head I was begging you not to repaint it. You didn't disappoint! It turned out great. Thank you for not ruining the vanity with more paint
I love how this piece turned out! 😍

Absolutely beautiful!
This is beautiful! I love the black stain. It looks very elegant and modern.🌸
You've brought this piece back to life. This is beautiful!
Gorgeous! The only thing I'd like to see differently is an addition of white to the detail lines in the after to make the art deco style pop a bit more.
Wow! The dark stain really pops. I noticed the little piece at the top of the mirror way better in the dark colour. Love it.
Very pretty. I really like the coffin mirror and had not known that this was what mirrors like that were called. Makes sense, and I appreciate you explaining while sharing! ☺️
I love it, but I kind of preferred the old damaged mirror! It would be a really cool juxtaposition.
I am really enjoying the color! I also love navy. My new favorite. Art deco is such a fun style you could paint it pink ombre and I would love it!😊
The coffin. Your dresser is absolutely gorgeous with the remake. It looks beautiful nice work.
WOW! Amazing restoration. That looks amazing in black! So much better!
OMG! A COFFIN CUT MIRROR???
OHH, WOWW!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
OMG!!! what an amazing find!!! Love, love, love 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful. Love the natural products you used to finish everything.
Art deco eat your heart out! Stunning! Amazing job 🤩👏🏻
Beautiful job! Love it.
Beautiful yet i agree with others...gold or silver in the details would pop it off. Great job!
I think silver coloring would look beautiful in the ingrained details, it would give contrast while drawing attention to them.
Gorgeous work on the dresser! Doug
Girl you did that 👏🏾 🙌🏾 😍
I think it needs a shiny finish and highlight that detailing with gold pinstripes.
This is beautiful!
Beautiful! I loved the old mirror in it and would've kept that, but new is nice too.
Omg! I LOVE how that turned out!💜
I love it, looks better than before and probably better than the original.
I honestly preferred the natural wood colour, but it was still gorgeous at the end
That's so pretty! The way it's designed, along with the mirror, it reminds me of Wednesday Adam's
Paint on wood should be a felony! Thank you for restoring that beautiful piece of furniture.
😲WOW!!! IT LOOKS BEAUTIFUL! EXCELLENT JOB! 👏👏👏❤❤❤
Love it in black! I’d love to have this in my house
This is why I just love you and your videos!!! What a wonderful eye you have!! I want to be just like you when I grow up!!!!!
It’s so incredible. You’ve done a phenomenal job and I love the color. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Transformation is absolutely mind blowing! Very very well done!
Perfect color to revive age period piece. Might have added some fine lines in gold somewhere. Great job restoring.
Extremely impressive 😱👍 ! I love art deco furniture. You made this piece look beautiful 👏👏👏👌👌👌
Man, that aged mirror would have made this piece way more valuable- especially since it's a coffin. The right buyer would have paid BANK.
GORGEOUS!! I love this look!
I think it turned out beautiful for being painted. I personally don't like painting antique wood unless it's necessary. But yeah definitely a great job!
The ebony stain is FABULOUS!
absolutely stunning! I would love to have that! 💜
New look is fabulous!
gorgeous-perfect for my dark Wednesday soul!
Looks absolutely incredible. Great job.
Beautiful. Love the update.
Beautiful, Wednesday addams would love that
I love it. I’m living for it. I want it. It’s everything
I don’t know why everyone is whining about the wood being “covered up.” It’s a stain, and I can still see the wood grain. The dark wood really gives a classic Art Deco look and I love it! Brilliant job!!
I love the gothic vibes 🖤
Stunning is an understatement! Nicely done!
