  • Currently the most popular drug in the family of Invokana and Farxiga, Jardiance stimulates the kidneys to expel glucose from the bloodstream into the urine. As a result patients with type 2 diabetes benefit by losing weight and improving their blood pressure. A relatively large study suggests Jardiance might also slightly reduce the risk of all cause mortality and decrease the likelihood of death from cardiovascular disease. Although these results appear statistically significant, the absolute improvement remains small at less than 3%. No reduction occurs in the incidence of heart attacks or stroke. Blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c fall only modestly.

    Well Dr. Landow it is now 2024 and I have been put on Jardiance by my GP because of my cardiac situation because I am not a diabetic. Now I had to lose weight being 83kgs and at 161cm tall that was putting so much pressure on my joints and making my fatty liver condition a lot worse. Now I am on the least carbohydrate and sugar diet that I can and have lost 18kgs and feel so much better. Now I do see so many videos on the TV and UA-cam where people in so many countries but especially in the US and Australia where I live who are so obese and yet still maintain a very obesity driving diet. My diet now consists of a high protein diet coupled with exercise twice a day and at 77 years old I am now really quite healthy apart from my arthritis. My main concern with Jardiance is that it has a nasty side condition called Fournier's gangrene so personal health is a really big ticket item for me apart from that I did experience some light headiness at first but now am fine. Now as for price it is on our list of approved medications here in Australia and I pay just $7.42 per script.

    Its not just sugar that is the culpret but carbs. Your body turns carbs into sugar. Most foods contain carbs and some are very high in carbs such as pasta, potatoes, rice, bread, corn, peas, grapes, virtually anything that contain starch. A person needs to limit foods that contain high carbs which means you have to avoid many of your favorite foods including desserts, french fries, pizza, virtually anything containing flour.

    Thank you for this video!! Very informative!!! I took Jardiance for 10 months. It worked well for me at first bringing down my A1c from 13 to 8 range, but in the last months I've had terrible side effects start including horrible thirst that can't be resolved no matter how much water I drank, extreme joint pain, hair falling out and just feeling sick. Stopped and started a few times to see if the side effects would be resolved if I stopped and they were. Started again and they came back within a day. I think Jardiance may be good for short-term use... If you have critically high blood sugar, which I did, but I don't think it's good long-term. I'm off the drug and going back to diet and exercise as key. My hair even started growing back within a week. I think that the drug so severely dehydrated me that it affected my scalp too, which was extremely dry. Also, the severe Black Box warnings need to be read by anyone thinking about taking the drug.

    My doctor has me on a combo of Jardiance and Buproprion. I am instructed to take 1/2 Jardiance tablet with it. Yes, I'm up about 3-4 times during the night to potty. Thank goodness I'm not experiencing any other side effects. Just to be on the safe side, I purchased a couple boxes of the Summer's Eve moist wipes I use to ensure no glucose is left on my skin after I wipe dry. I also drink a lot of water during the day, but (I'm nuts) love it ice cold at night. We have excellent water in my area. I am grateful for this combo because the last prescription of Qsymia was a total disaster. My workouts aren't consistent as I'd like, but my food choices are healthy enough that It's been a month on Jardiance & Buproprion and my jeans are baggy. I never thought I'd see this time again. I was obsessing about getting Ozempic and/or Wegovy, but they are in shortage, probably forever, and I'm not going to worry about them. Who knows, I may see and be able to maintain my health markers and goal weight with this present combo.

    A 2011 study [146] suggested that when water intake is increased, this could prevent or delay the onset of hyperglycemia and subsequent diabetes.
    Participants that consumed more than one litre of water per day had a 28 per cent lower risk of developing new onset hyperglycemia, compared to those drinking less than 500ml of water per day.
    are the efffects of these drugs just coming from the fact they make you drink a lot of water???

    • @varyolla435
      @varyolla435 Рік тому +2

      No. Excessive consumption of water will not save you from diabetes. In fact it can lead to other issues such as hypervolemia and electrolyte issues. The solution therefore is to reduce sugar intake and control weight to stave off diabetes.
      So Jardiance works by causing your kidneys to filter more glucose from your bloodstream causing it to be dumped out with your urine. Glucose like say sodium is a natural "osmotic" = and osmotics draw moisture. So as a result of your dumping glucose from your bloodstream - which lowers your serum blood sugar level - into your bladder = more urine volume is created - hence you pee more. 🤔
      p.s. - because Jardiance draws fluid from your circulatory system as it flushes glucose out through your kidneys a possible side effect is hypovolemia as - hence blood pressure lowering if you do not drink enough. Also higher glucose in your urine is an attractant for bacteria if you are not careful. So a common possible side effect is urinary tract infections such as diabetics are already at risk for since they routinely dump sugar in their urine anyways as a consequence of the condition.

      Heart failure and fluid overload - hypervolemia - go hand in hand. Jardiance works by causing your kidneys to dump glucose via your urine. As a result it also therefore = draws out fluid from your circulatory system as well - hence it makes you pee more as glucose is an osmotic.
      Also while you may not be diagnosed as a diabetic you may be "pre-diabetic" - what have your A1C's been running assuming they have been checked. Finally heart failure can predispose you to other metabolic syndromes like diabetes. If your heart is not working efficiently -----> your tissues are not adequately perfusing ------> your kidneys may not filter your blood as they should = which can result in excessive glucose retention from what you consume. Also anti-diabetic meds tend to cause some weight loss as well and that would also benefit your cardiac status. If you are obese then your heart has to work harder to pump blood through your tissues. 🤔
