Hey Tamptec, I'm new to the game; however, I have fixed two out of three displays so far using your advice, and based on percent chance that capacitors are the problem. I tried troubleshooting the power board on the LG 32LN570B-UH; the board is a EAX64905001 (2.4). Because I can't currently afford the Fluke meter, I am using a simple multi-meter with resistance, AC, and DC modes. When I tried reading the pin out I was at first getting less voltage than the 3.5, and 12, and 24 volts specified; the voltage was moving slightly. So I tried to read the voltage regulators and found that the voltage was jumping all over the map, peaking over 1000 volts, and following that reading the pin out was not reading any voltage. I have all ready replaced the caps on the board; However I suspect the voltage regulator is the problem. It seems there is more than one regulator, and the pins on each are jumping around. How can I determine which regulator is the bad one?
I also found this link to the TV power board schematic: schematicscom.blogspot.ca/2016/07/lg32ln530b-led-lcd-tv-power-supply.html

Here in my country most tv repair shops are closed.
I am in electronics for 40 years but I repair treadmills and some other things,

Is posible to earn enough money fixing tv's?

This video you made saves me hundreds of dollars from buying a new tv. I just went through everything you did on same model toshiba tv and it was that same fusible resistor that was gone on your that was also gone on mine. A 3.00 fix and my tv just turned back on! My hats off to you for this very valuable video you made!!!! Cheers

Just repaired my 46" Regza using this video. Everything in the video was spot on with my set. It had just shut off one day and no sign of any power. Soldering the voltage regulator's 7 pins back in was a challenge- i feared that maybe i crossed some pins but it turned on great!

Have this exact model of television and experienced the same issue. Purchased a new television anyways but got my fluke meter out and began to troubleshoot my tv after seeing this video, and found the same symptoms. Ordered parts and just installed them earlier in the evening and got my Toshiba up and working again all thanks to this video.

Thanks for the vid! I have the exact same TV and it had the same problem where one day it wouldn't turn on and had no standby power. I would not have known how to begin troubleshooting the issue but using your video I replaced the fuseable resistor and voltage regulator and boom, TV works again. Hopefully it works another 9 years!

Thanks for the video. Fixed this with 5J2R0 fusible resistor from Fry's Electronics. The 5J2R0 was a suitable sub per some other online documentation. Didnt have to swap out the Y6456 Voltage Regulator; which, was a good thing since they didnt have any locally and there were no suitable subs for it that I could find. Whole cost was $1.59 for the 5J2R0 fusible resistors and there were 2x resistors in the package, so I have a spare. This TV is 9yrs old is now new again and save hundreds in a new TV.
    Thanks Again.

Hello, first of all, thank you, great video. I have a 55ZV650U TV from 2009, it's very good, and today, for the first time, it didn't turn on. I checked up to the resistor point, and indeed, the fuse resistance of 1.8 ohms 5W is open. Tomorrow, I will go look for a replacement or something similar. I hope that with this, my TV will work again. Thanks again.👍

I ended up bringing home a 42" model like this from an electronics recycling place that I go to every week.
There's a bin outside people put stuff kn and sometimes it's just laid outside of it as the bins are usually full. Anyways, there was the 42 and also a 62. Most likely the same person as they were side by side or front by front of you will lol. I didn't want to lug the 62 on the bus myself so I left it.
So my friend who showed me the place originally went there yesterday early morning and picked up the 62 I didn't tell him it was there or anything and when I got to his place last night I said does that one turn on and of course he says yes lol.
So now I'm going to attempt these repairs. The red light isn't on or anything at the moment. Great video though I can't wait to try it tonight.

Hi, I have the exact same TV and exact same issue power. It worked okay last night and this morning it will not turn back on. Checked the power source that it works. So, I am going to have to troubleshoot like you did. I just wished you are/were close to where I am (in Midwest). So, I could just ask you -:). But THANKS a lot for the video. I hope I can fix mine. I really like this TV as the picture quality is much better than many other more expensive TVs I have seen. Thanks again.

We just had this exact same problem! Our TV would not turn on, rather than looking for new I found this video, since I am a gas tech I had my multimeter.. and exact same fuse is bad for exact same reason as this video lol. So hoping today the repair store has the part and can hopefully de-solder and re-solder it for us since I don't have the iron pen. Seems very simple to do, I will have to invest in this!

any time, knowledge is money, you can make money fixing tvs or save money fixing your own and save not paying extra for extended warranty or find a broken tv on the road to fix and sell. sad that tv repair is a dying trade, I'm one of the last of my kind, that's why I had kids so I can raise more tv techs so tv repair art will live on, kinda like disco but way less groovey.

This information is very helpful. I have replaced the caps on a HannG 281 D Monitor power board. It has a PHIHONG PSM217-404-H-R switching power supply board. The monitor started and worked for a short time then stopped altogether. When I removed the board it had a small surface mount cap C404 blown. I would like to replace this cap but I can find no reference to its parameters. It is parallel with a 35V 470 uF Cap located at C403 so i am thinking it is on the 24V rail on this power supply. It is located adjacent to that connector on the board. The pads look like they will receive a 2.5 to 2.8mm long ceramic surface mount cap. I notice there seem to be a number of these on the board in parallel with the larger 35V radial caps on the other side. Is there a resource that would give me the parameters of these caps identified by their placement number on the board?
Can you help at all with this? Thank you.

Hi Tampatec, I have a Orion SLED4668 and my issue is that, the standby light is on when plugged in but when I turn on the the TV, the standby light goes out but there is no picture or audio. I took the back panel off and tested the fuses first in circuit and found the 1 amp fuse to be bad. What suggestions do you have for troubleshooting what may have caused the fuse to blow in the first place. I'm thinking that maybe there was an electrical surge that caused it. I also checked the surrounding capacitors and diodes in circuit and they were all good. Thanks!

Hey I need help! I've came across this video 3 weeks ago with this same TV power supply board you have, I have the 46XV645U model. One day the TV just didn't turn on the next day after a thunderstorm week although the TV was on power surge bar protector. I suspect it's the power supply board, so I did some test read and found out that the r850 fusible resistor was failing diode test, no alarm sound on the multimeter; and so tested for ohms and was nothing. I now switched that 1.8Ohms 2.88Watts I think with a 2.0 Ohms 5Watts one, waited 2 weeks for this part from China. The standby pin is now giving 5.04 volts DC and constant at 5.04, not fluctuating (so my power regulators are working fine) but the TV have no standby light and will not power on. When I plug in the power cable, you can hear a click from the TV, sounds like those old tube TVs when they turn on or off with that click. Do you think my next problem can be the main video board since I have no standby light? I read the 5Volt pin from the video board after connecting it to the power supply board and I am getting the same 5.04V read out, so I'm puzzled. I just ordered the video board from amazon, last one on stock, thank God. I just want to ask you if this is the right route since you said 5Volts from the power supply should give you standby light, mine didn't give a STBY light and TV didn't turn on. Sorry for this long non-sense, hope you can help and maybe help others. By the way, before my Fusible resistor came, I switched out the STR Y6456 power regulator thingy, pins' positions were correct but I had to bend them backwards to solder it onto board facing the other way. I also replaced the two bulging paired capacitors 450v 150uf, still nothing helped...checked all other two fuses and diode tests lots of other parts all fine. Thanks in advance!

Any suggestions on what I should check next? VVVVVVVVVVV
I want to add that I'm getting 3 sets of three blinks and then a steady green light for about 15 seconds before it goes out.

With probe, found out that one of the fusible resistors (RGDU5M-5E) is wide open, so went ahead and ordered from ebay, 5J2R0, supposedly a suitable replacement (yes?). Question: Couldn't I just replace the thing with an ordinary 1.8 ohm resistor? What is this supposed to do, besides serve as a fuse with a certain resistance?

Is 4.98 volts too low? I had the same problem, did the repair to the power board (same parts needed). Thank you for the information. Unfortunately now, the output is now 4.98v. Still no stand by light.

R850 is in-rush current limiter. Clean relay contacts otherwise it will blow again.
P.S. I would not screw the back until I check that TV actually works lol.

I have the Toshiba 42ZV650U with the dreaded blinking green power light! I replaced the power board, and still have the same issue. Set appears to hang up in the boot sequence and never finishes. When I look at your work here, it appears that the boards differ a bit. My board is a SRV2194WW, I am almost thinking that something is missing from the set. It came to me as a throw away, and I suspect the previous owner dabbled a bit. I do not have a schematic, or even a photo of this model with the back off. If you have words of wisdom, or would be willing to look at a photo, please let me know. My main repair focus is musical instruments, but this has become an obsession. I want to fix this thing! Can you help?

I have 2 Toshiba 46L5200U1 TV's. Both units flash Toshiba for a second then go black. Both have audio. I did the flashlight test, and in both units you can see a display. I purchased one backlight inverter and installed it in one of the units with no results. I removed the new inverter and installed it on the second unit with good results. I'm wondering if the first unit has a bad led strip. I have torn further into the unit finding the led strip (not an easy task, but haven't figured out how to remove it). Any advise for me on (A) Is there anything else I should be looking for? (B) Where would I find a led strip? Not having any luck on line, but I haven't removed the led yet to see if there is part number.

hi Tampatec, first of all: great video and great channel!
maybe I missed it in your video but what's the name of the device you're using to measure volts and where can I usually find one to purchase?

bgregg55 i do home theater and fix TVs, I fix mostly Sony and Samsung then next Vizio but i would still buy a Vizio cause they are a really good value tv and for me easier to fix than Sony. Buy a TV based on room size not how big the TV is. if your couch is 6ft away from TV go 50-60", hope this helps (sub for more howto tech reviews)

Hey, I have a toshiba 47 regza with same power supply. It was dead, I changed the fusible resister r850 ceramic, this fixed it, but week later it blew again. So changed again, but this time green power light flashes 3 times and repeats, when I hit the power button , a relay clicks but no picture. Any Ideas, the stb voltage is steady at 4.92 v .

I have a 32" Toshiba led tv (2012) and originally figured the power board was my issue as l had not a power/standby lite, no leds lighting, no sound/picture, I ordered the power board and just received it today. Now with the new powerboard in l am seeing the power/standby lite and when it is powered on l get a chime, the LEDs illuminate momentarily and l can see the indicators on the screen but then it shuts off and repeats this every 5 or so seconds. I can see all the led back lites are working but only momentarily. I then replaced the mother board as l am assuming this is the problem but there was no change so l assume the main board was ok. I am stumped...any direction would be appreciated. The TV is just a spare and a challenge at this point...l don't want the tv to win!

I have a Toshiba 50 in plasma bought in 2005, the red light (power light) was blinking, would not turn on. I unplugged the set, put it back, and the light stopped blinking and wouldn't do anything after that. when I plugged it back in, you could hear it click and power up, but no light or picture. sound like a power supply?
