Fairchild Republic A-10 versus Northrop A-9. The warthog facing the crab.

In 1972 the Fairchild Republic A-10 was pitted against the Northrop YA-9A for the choice of a new close support aircraft for ground troops. The A-10 won and became the terror of tanks because of its rotary cannon, the GAU-8 AVANGER. The YA-9A did not have a career but it still exists. In this video we will see the points that brought the two planes together and those that differentiated them.
