I first saw it in Salt Lake City years ago to pick up humanitarian supplies. It's impressive and was used for helping people in bad situations. It's a big loss to the world having it gone. I hope things get better and they build some new ones.
I was inside that Monster in May of 1992, at an Air Show in Edmonton, Canada. I went out to watch it land, the night before. The entire Floor of the Cargo Hold was Titanium. It looked very thin, and made crinkling sounds as you walked on it. The Landing Gear was lowered and raised using Pneumatics instead of Hydraulics. A lot of things on that Plane, looked surprisingly Primitive.
I have then some more sowjet airplanes one some airshows and all of them were kind of primitive. It was like "we build only the stuff you really need to fly,"

I was lucky to see the Antonov AN-255 a number of years ago at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands. Flying in from the UK I was thrilled to see the parked AN-255 out of the window as my plane taxied towards the gate. Unfortunately shortly thereafter our pilot did a 180 deg. u turn and then I was sitting on the "wrong side" and sadly lost my direct view of her. ☹ I really hope that some way can be found to restore Mriya to her former glory...

If the bearing elements of an aircraf are on top, that is the first qualification for flight. Like a parachute & a yatch. The only time that that could be varied is in the question of a design for higher speed threshold. The size of the craft is not a factor.
At first I thought that Antonov built a new plane named AN-255, and it is the successor of destroyed AN-225 and became exited. After I started watching I am disappointed to find out that the name is wrongly written and we still don't have an aircraft like the legendary AN-225😢
