The guy knew exactly where to go and how to tell when the machines should be cleaned… that’s a great sign honestly that’s the exact thing I’d want to hear if I questioned the cleanliness of a place.
@Antics well someone that worked at McDonald’s they explained why it’s “broken” Because they heat up the ice cream to kill bacteria around the afternoon
I worked at a froyo shop with these machines. We used to run hot water and cleaner through the machine at least 3 times every night, until the water runs clear. This was part of our main closing duty, so it really never got missed. It wasn’t that hard though, so the fact that this doesn’t get done at other places is gross
That’s actually not enough. You have to disassemble the machine and take out every rubber and clean it from the inside. I used to do that everyday and it takes me like an hour to clean. I also run water through it the next day before I put any mix in it.
My first job at 16 was at a TCBY, the frozen yogurt place. The owner and manager were super nice and they had top notch standards. At closing every single night the store was cleaned, mopped, sanitized. Plus all 4 machines were drained and broken apart and cleaned and sanitized. It actually made me proud to work there cause I knew we were doing right by everyone.
I have a commercial stoelting soft serve machine in my own house that I got from a restaurant auction, and it has never broken, mostly because I take care of it like it is one of my children.
@@jackdicesare9817 I'm not sure he was unprofessional. Giving no comment seems to be pretty common amongst these kinds of interviews with restaurant managers. If the person was just a part time employee, I'd expect them to give a more candid answer.

Some employees say that just to be nice to you, because, as you can see, it's most likely not clean. So always be polite cuz they may decide one day that they're just not having it.
I actually had a similar experience where I had gotten a soft serve ice cream and it had tasted very different than normal and had a strong chemical taste to it so i returned it and reported it to the owners where they had refunded me with a new one it still tasted unpleasant and so I ended up tossing it. Later I had found out that the ice cream machine wasn’t properly clean and the bleach for it had mixed with the cream and caused a huge distraction away from the business due to the many other people that had the same issue there before. Cleaning is important but u must also make sure it is cleaned properly or does little to nothing.
Ok for the McDonalds "Drip Tray". It's called a drip tray for a reason. It collects any drips until it is cleaned. It never touches any of the ice cream. It's like the inside of a vacuum.
Michael B Dairy Queen is the safest..it comes straight out of the bag through tubes into the machine, never touches the inside of the machine. I used to work for them.

I used to work in an icecream shop that my family ran, when we originally took over the old owner completely abandoned the machines without cleaning them out. We worked days to remove the spoiled icecream residue from the machine and took it apart completely, making sure to sanitize everything. At the end of every night it was a part of our routine to completely wash down the machinery. I wouldnt have eaten the icecream if I wasnt sure that the machines were properly cleaned.
So seeing my entire family shot, having someone run me over with a bus then throwing me off a three story building, miraculously made a recovery but later finds out I am paralyzed, blind, and deaf. Oh and lets throw in some diabetes and cancer with that makes me stronger? :D

Over where my mom works. My moms friend cleans the ice cream machine every day after 7:00pm and it's called *Hunts" It's in Park Hills Missouri. I'm one of the family members in Hunts and I'm only 14, my brother is 10, and my mom is almost 40. It's good and I love how they always make connections with some customers
Once I went to Dunkin Donuts and I asked for the vanilla ice cream from the machine, and they gave me the ice cream. While I was eating and licking the ice cream, I felt this plastic in my mouth. At first i did not think much about it. I continued having the ice cream, and more plastic. I told my dad and my dad told the worker. They said it was from the waffle cone. It was clear too. My dad asked for an ice cream in a cup from the machine and ate it. There was plastic again and showed them. He told them to take out the machine. They never did tho.
Alex hihihi Sameeeee At Burger King I got a vanilla sundae without the sauce and it had a huuuge chunk of black plastic in it! The issue is that we went to a drive-through and we were home already so we could not send it back or complain but I still ate it and took out the plastic. (It was good aswell. Like always!). And it does make me quite concerned but then again it is very cheap so it makes you think of how safe it really is to eat and how good the quality is and where it come's from. ;//
Kira Lampel I know what happens but I just trying to say then if I ever swallow it or someone else you would get sick and that place you got the ice cream from could get a lot of trouble. Sorry for confusing you
My mom is a training manager at McDonald’s and I showed her the drip tray and she screamed saying nothing should ever look like that. Also when McDonald’s’s says their ice cream machine is broken it is not usually broken in fact it take 2 hours to clean it and they clean it usually one or twice a day so stuff like this should never happen.

There bacteria everywhere.. Unavoidable. Inside edition loves to ruin peoples businesses lmao
The thing is that when there is an unusually large amount of bacteria on something it is typically unhygienic

I’m currently in Malaysia and Singapore, the McDonald’s is great here!!
I've heard it's awesome jn foreign country's they take. Better care of their resturants and they have better food
Same in Russia, McD’s is far better than in the USA
@@freakonaleash9601 for example, the ice cream machines work perfectly in Brazil.

And it does make me quite concerned but then again it is very cheap so it makes you think of how safe it really is to eat and how good the quality is and where it come's from. ;//
Kira Lampel
I know their cheap and you also should be expecting low quality but what if you did not realize the plastic and you swallow it?
Kira Lampel
I know what happens but I just trying to say then if I ever swallow it or someone else you would get sick and that place you got the ice cream from could get a lot of trouble. Sorry for confusing you
Alex hihihi Oh yes lol. No need to be sorry, I'm just stupid. Also I just want to thank you for replying to me so much. ♡
Kira Lampel Np😂
My mom is a training manager at McDonald’s and I showed her the drip tray and she screamed saying nothing should ever look like that. Also when McDonald’s’s says their ice cream machine is broken it is not usually broken in fact it take 2 hours to clean it and they clean it usually one or twice a day so stuff like this should never happen.
Eh, the workers don’t do this when the store is opened
The reason it is ‘broken’ is that the hopper is way to full of mixture and it fails to finish the heat cycle
@@zaijiancelis yes they do
