Thanks Griff, I have been trying for ages to nut out the fingering to these double stops. So simple and obvious when you show where it fits into the whole chord. This lesson made my day.
Ya know, I was trying to explain this to a buddy today, but you did it much better than I ever could. Sending him the link. Awesome too about treating the 1 as the 5 for blues. There’s definitely some secrets there I know nothing about. Great video as always
As many times as I have seen some attempt to teach double stops, Griff you are the first to explain the connection back to the harmonized major scale so that it finally makes sense (bought my first guitar back in '68 so I've seen a BUNCH of folks try to explain this.) Others have used the major scale as the ladder, but always left the second string up to rote memory. For me at least, it is much easier to know which notes to pull from which chords makes sense and is much easier to remember than note combinations (not saying I'm old, but I have seen all of the truly great bands in concert during their prime years, and I still say groovy as well.) Thanks for offering this to us Griff and taking the time to explain everything so that it makes sense even to an old fart. PEACE
I’ll need to watch this again. I was doing well until the last part and got totally lost. Very new to guitar though, even though I’m 51. Thought I’d try to learn before I died of old age and/or boredom.
I started late too, keep going James, the more you pick up the more rewarding it is. Griff has loads of pearls of wisdom on his channel. The Marc Guitar youtube channel is also great for beginner blues.
Thanks I remember fingerin this out a long time ago and just groovin on it,love your style of teaching, keep it going man, wish Icould have met someone like you 35 years ago,I had to get it off of records or rewinding tapes.
Someone told me he liked the double stops I used in my playing. I told him thank you but I wasn't sure what that means. When he explained it I said, "Oh...the Van Morrison type thing with the G and E string." He said, "Exactly."

Thanks Griff. I love using decending double stops as a lead in. By the way, I love your Tele!

Thanks again Griff.
Treat the chords like they are the 5th...💡brilliant! 🎸🔊🎶🤘🏻
🎸🎼🤘👍
so you're picking the G string and plucking the E string?
do you have to mute the B ?
ah - you get to it eventually. nevermind.
