This is a beautiful lesson - it covers a lot of ground, but stands on its own, and the presentation is very clear.

Outstanding lesson. I bookmarked it because there are so many great learning points covered in your video, I will need to come back to it several times to ingrain it until it becomes part of my playing style.

Yet again Master Renman has broken down a fundamental lesson into tasty bite size pieces which are easy to absorb. Soooooo good!

Discovering the usefulness of doublestops made a big difference in my playing, especially for rhythm playing/riffs.
Most of that came from blues and Deep Purple ( including Jon Lord’s keyboard parts)
I mostly use adjacent strings with index & middle fingers or hybrid picking.
The pentatonic scale played with 4ths (or inverted 5ths- whichever way you look at it) brings up lots of possible riffs, just remember to move a fret if you involve the B string.
I once had a music store ask me to teach after I played some pentatonic doublestop riffs.
I didn’t think it was impressive as they did, but maybe it was something the salesmen there didn’t do?
I didn’t take them up on the offer due to my schedule at the time, although I have done some teaching.

    Very informative ..
    Very well presented ...
Love the prints on those stylish button downs!
Nice use of the guitar pedestal .. clean set, no distractions.
    The editing is masterful.
So I am self taught for a number of years, and your lesson was a marker for my level of strumming, yes ... I've mastered the level that you mentioned as "Hybrid."
Also, I have always used some variations of 3 note and 2 note chords but, I never knew the phrase, "double stop" .. so thank you.
I look forward to viewing more of your videos.

I love double stops! Good tips for the right hand, some of them I didn't know about! Like hiding the pick 😆😆. One of the lick reminds me of a very good song from a fellow blues girl, Susan Tedeschi, "It hurts so bad". Such a good song!! 🥰🥰

Absolutely. Double-stops can be used in any style of music. I guess I should have mentioned "all styles of music", because I've been reminded several times that this technique is not just for the styles I'm demonstrating. I certainly agree with that, and I thought that would be obvious for the viewer.

there's a double stop I like to do where you bend one of the notes up. I'll play the 4th and 5th degree of a scale and bend the 4 up to a 5. Any ideas any where else that would sound good?
p.s. I usually do it in a slower blues context

*These are not double stops!* They are two note cords or parallel 4ths, 3rds, 6ths In classical terms it's called parallel motion. Double stops are slang for playing the same note twice before playing another note afterwards. A-pentatonic C,C,A,A,G,G,E,E,D,D,C,C. John Tropea - Muff Gary Hoey - Hocus pocus Lenny White - Universal Love (guitar intro) are double stops.

I will disagree with you on that one. So will the vast number of articles explaining the topic.
