    Can I ask what the cloth does ? Does it help for the clay not to stick?

    What size did you make the wedging board? I could not find the dimensions of your board. Thank you for theses helpful instructions!

    Hi! I have a question :)
    I'm new into pottery, so I'm still learnign all the basics.
    I've seen many people use a simple wooden board and the clay does not stick to it. Is there any specific reason why you add a piece of cloth to it?
    Thanks for all these videos, they're REALLY useful! :)

      I’m no expert but I think it’s to absorb more moisture

      I have had problems with the wood warping due to the moisture in the clay getting into the wood (particularly during cleaning)!!

    If you're laying out clay to led it dry out before recycling, does this method work? Or should I attempt to create an enclosed board with concrete? Let me know when you can!

    • @PotterytothePeople

      any wood. make sure it's at least 1cm thick, ideally 2-3cm. My boards are 60x40cm, but any size will do.

    I've been attempting to wedge on plasterboard because I had some lying around, and it's not working at all - the clay just sticks to it. Can I just staple some fabric to that or does it have to be wood? :)

    • @PotterytothePeople
      @PotterytothePeople  4 роки тому

      Hi Georgina, it should work! Lots of people wedge on plaster, but it needs to be Gypsum plaster, that is absorbent. If the material isn't absorbent at all, you'll get sticking. Also make sure your clay isn't too wet-- if it's too wet it will stick to everything!
