Use carnauba wax. It’s natural and water resistant. Than means you’ll nave time to wipe up wet glass rings, and it won’t hurt the plant. More, it will keep the moisture into the soil and not warp the wood. You can even use the wax on the planter. You just put it on then buff it out with the same tool you’d use to wax your car. Keep adding layers until you like how it looks. I usually add 3-4.
I love watching you hand build! Especially since they're such big pieces 😊 I prefer hand building for a variety of reasons, but my pieces are much smaller. You inspire me to step out of that comfort zone 😊
That looks a little bit like how many Africans do their coiling, but instead of pinching them, they support one side of the wall with one hand and thin the wall upward and obliquely with a stiff rib, doing both sides of the wall. And when they attach a big fat coil, they work along the length of the coil, pressing down while twisting the coil with little quarter turns.
This was very satisfying to watch! I love the idea of keeping the wood natural because I'm into the whole neutral colour family, so I'd do a a light or translucent wax, idk.
What a great idea, would have never had thought of cutting a hole or slot for the plant, I'd have got way more complicated like adding a ledge on the pot and supporting the top that way, but that would have ment it wouldn't for in your kiln or the pot may have been in 2sections, like I said it's getting say to complex. I love your idea, it great, add another tick to your sucessfull builds list, thanks for sharing, you keep potting and I'll keep watching. Till the next build x
Hi Mia, wow, what a wonderful table... I love it. I love to watch you while you solve problems and how perfekt the result is ! I would use a beeswax (Bienenwach) to treet the wood. I think the pot and the warm colour of the wood match perfektly. Best wishes from Auszria, Miriam
Great video! Love seeing you work through the problems in real time- it’s much more realistic than a polished and perfect real. I vote clear stain on the wood. You could paint it several times to change with the seasons and then sand it down again at some point.
Here's another vote for clear! The beauty of the clay and the wood and your lovely little rubber plant van definitely stand for themselves without embellishments. And down the road, should you decide either require some "fancy" paint jobs, you can always do that.
The channel cut into the wooden top seems to be adequate for your plant now but if it is a rubber tree it will not fit that opening long. You should use a finish since beverages can sweat. Condensation from the interior is also a concern. Glass could have been a consideration.
Great design! Looks amazing in that reading corner. For the wood, I'd say some clear coating so it's more water-proof. I'm usually a little clumsy so I imagine that eventually it'll get some of the water from watering the plant. Realistically, I wouldn't always take the table before and sometimes just try to water it through the opening 😅 Great project, thanks!
"Rasp" is the name of the tool you used to scrape the surface smooth. I love watching you work. Your interesting, articulate, and best of all honest about your work.
Ditto to it is a really fun video because you make it look easy, albeit time consuming. I like the oil idea, either linseed or a stain. i like the light contrast.
Wow I have never seen such attention to detail in it's most minute form and I can't believe the many different skill sets this masterpiece required and how you showed mastery in every aspect of this wonderful piece of art!! Such patience and dedication I'm speechless thank you for sharing 🧡
I think you should stain or put a clear coat as it matches the chair. Curious if the pot is only bisque or did you fire to maturity (vitrified). If you said I missed it :)
Great video. Because it's wood I would always err on the side of stain. I love the raw furniture types of wood stain that come in so many colors and are more earthy. Maybe a mustard or rust or even a blue.
A year later i watch your video so probably you finished the wood top of your planter pot table by now. It came out beautiful, brilliant 👍 The pot has such a natural look so my personal taste would be to give the wood several layers of transparent lacker. After each dried layer give it a sandpaper. The natural look of the wood combined with the natural look of your pot. I would like to know how the finished piece turned out. Thank you for sharing. Love to watch your projects, aspecially the big ones. Greetz Sheila the Netherlands
Oh my god I loveeed the whole process! You are such an inspiration! Please more projects like this 😍 Ps: I think you should stain to wood top and make it more darker but keep the wooden design if that makes sense :))

a roundover on the edges of both sides of the wood would look so cute and lumpy and nice with the pot!!

100% paint the wood yellow!!!! I love how the table/pot turned out!

Sounds like thats the consensus! I originally thought a walnut stain but I might need to reconsider… Thanks for watching!
I would love to see projects such as ceramic lamp base, ceiling lamp, handle holder, stool etc. It would be perfect to watch your process!❤
Lamp coming soon!! :D A stool is also an awesome idea!

I think potters dogs are always the cutest doggos ever haha

What a beautiful table/planter. Just a fabulous idea! I vote for leaving the wood a light natural color almost the way it looks now.
Yeahhh! I’m leaning that way too :)
Lovely! I vote for like stain too!
I think you should probably treat the wood with something to stop the water staining but what a cool project!!
Great video! Love seeing you work through the problems in real time- it’s much more realistic than a polished and perfect real.
I vote clear stain on the wood. You could paint it several times to change with the seasons and then sand it down again at some point.
Yay, I’m glad you liked it :) Honestly I might go for the clear! The more I sit with the raw wood, the more I love the color 🥰

I’m just loving your videos. I’m new to your Chanel and am glad I found you. Good work. It’s pleasurable to watch you.
This is the coolest project I've ever seen
I love the yellow colour of your clay. Never seen clay like that in the uk
I never would have thought of this in a million years. Such a cool concept and great execution.

What a cool piece! The initial sculpted shape of the legs reminded me of the moon cheese from Wallace and Gromit :)
OK... Mia, I know you say you're not a woodworker, but I am jealous of your mad skillz!
Edit: also, was that just fired once? Left as bisque?
Thank you! It's fired only once but to the final temperature :) I didn't have to bisque it because I didn't apply a glaze.

Love this! Don’t paint it! Stain it!!
I have made several similar pots, for bonsai plants. I vented the leags on the back side of the leags. This worked out well. Love your work.

I loved this video so much. I’d paint the wood yellow as close to the raw clay as possible, as a nod to the clay before it was fired. ❤
What a nice idea! Thanks for watching :)
I think you should stain or put a clear coat as it matches the chair. Curious if the pot is only bisque or did you fire to maturity (vitrified). If you said I missed it :)
its fully fired stoneware! I just fired it once because I didnt apply a glaze. Matching the chair is such a good point, thank you!

Love it! I’d do a natural stain.
sounds lovely 😍
That was great!!
thank you!! 🥰
That is pretty neat, I like the way the plant grows out the table top👍
I LOVE this! I love the clay you use, here in Ireland can only get white or beige clay. As for the wood I suggest treat it with danish oil!
I like the natural wood colour so I would just use a water-based poly and protect it.
I would stain it a red-toned natural wood tone.
wood oil named Odies oil...plant, food etc safe....feeds the wood and gives a nice but subtile shine.
I am so digging this project. You're so inspiring. Thanks✌️🙂
Great project idea! thanks for sharing :) I like the natural wood finish. Natural varnish will look great :)
Love your video and art......ordered a coffee cup....Good Luck.
omg, it is so cute, i just can't. you are very talanted
Swedish oil on the wood.
i will have to look into that :)
wow you're a champion!
Beautiful work!
Pretty cool stuff, nice job!
It looks soooo nice!
It's so cute!!
Omg! I love this idea! It looks amazing!
The hollowed put legs remind me of cow’s horns
So curious about your nationality, hope you don’t mind me asking! It took a while for me to detect an accent, your American English is so spot on!
love the piece, I think it's better to stain it
So amazing!
I recommend to color it with colorful colors i think it will be suitable with the plant and the ceramic
This turned out so stunning! ❤
Amazing
hello 👋😺what is your extruders brand?
Just use walnut oil .. big soak 1st layer then lightly sand then reapply
So cool!
wow, this is an amazing piece! Thank you for the video!!! (:
So cool! Subscribed!
Is your coil extruder handmade? Did someone make it for you?
It's great 😊
Oh my god I loveeed the whole process! You are such an inspiration! Please more projects like this 😍 Ps: I think you should stain to wood top and make it more darker but keep the wooden design if that makes sense :))
thank you! Will definitely keep making big pots :D
Good job it is very beautiful but just Polish with wood oil
I lovee it!!
You’re adorable. Love your channel
Not that it would matter to you, but I wonder how much weight you could stack on the table?
its pretty dang sturdy, plus its already holding the weight of the soil. but I’m only using it for cups a tea so far 😁
Is this plant still living in this planter?
I say bright color or stain it dark!
I absolutely love it, thanks for an inspiring video!! I'm curious what kind of clay you use?
it's stoneware :)
Table is cute itself ! Thanks for sharing lots of experience! But you could just make that wooden thing for any planter to make it a table-planter 😂
Hi, Wonderful looking pot! What kind of clay are you using that it turns red upon baking? Thank you for the wonderful video.
It's 4/ZF from Carl Jäger :)
That such a cute table! How much clay did you use? I feel inspired to make my own table now, since I have the same kiln size.
i think i used about 20 kilo but then i shaved off probably a quarter of that. 😄
Comfiest chair ever
What kind of clay is that
Como prepara o esmalte, por favor
Love 💕😘 it❤
What kind of clay are you using?
stoneware :)
vibrant! a year late!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🏺🏺🏺🏺
make the wood match your chair wood
As soon as I saw her poke those holes for the legs I was like "nooo those are gonna collect so much dirt 😭"
you rockk
Keep it natural with some linseed oil 😊
Did you treat the wood? I would suggest black wax. :)
wow, so beautiful and funny to watch "ah, scheiße" at 21:02. 😆
use a nice natural oil
We want more dog in the videos
Stain!
stain da wood
Please start using a dust mask or respirator when you are sawing or sanding wood. Your lungs will thank you later.
Hé Scheisse….😂😂😂
Beautiful project btw
