- Crafty friends, I am challenging myself to do altered playing cards on a full deck of cards. This video explains a bit about what I plan to do and shows my first card of the #challenge.

My sister and I are working on the giant cards... and mailing them to each other so we can work on the opposite sides. We hopefully will get to keep a whole deck with both our work on either side.. I'm in Ontario, she's in New Brunswick.

Years ago I did an altered book this way. There was a group of us who would do a page or two, then mail the book on to the next person in line, and so on. At the end we all had a book that everyone had done some work in. It was fun.
We finished... took a few years... my sister kept loosing them, then finding them again... lol... we've had a lot of fun doing them!
I bought myself a deck of cards the other day (boy were those difficult to find without going on Amazon), and plan to do this. I used to make ATC's, and various mixed media, but have been artistically stagnant for quite a long time. This might get me back to doing something. It's not that I don't have the inspiration, it's just that I don't have the motivation. And that's just wrong. Artwork is a huge part of who I am.

I did a few of these cards a good while back when I was venturing back onto facebook and was looking for groups to join. Thank you so much for the inspiration. I am on the spectrum and have lots of sensory and social issues, and I was able to make cards expressing different elements of interests and emotions. Found you again in my UA-cam rabbit-hole binge-watching and now I'm inspired to do more cards and continue on this challenge to complete a deck. So awesome to see so many people on the Facebook page sharing their creations. This is indeed a unique and satisfying sensory project for me as I have used different textured collage materials.

Is grit paste the same as gesso?
What's the best side to pick beacuse I would kinda like to leave the face alone and just do the cover . 🤔
Hi, it is totally up to you, I chose the face of the card, as I sometimes like it to shine through but doing the back is also a good idea 💖
