Ohhhh, my GOSH! I’ve been sewing and making things for half a century and YOU just taught me something I wish I had known for the last 50 years…..threading thick fabrics using a folded piece of wire as a “needle”. Thank you! Life changing!
@@NinaRibenaMixedMedia I was in 4-H sewing for years and never learned the method of using wire as a needle. I guess it’s more of a crafter necessity. I appreciate any crafter tidbits to make creating easier. Thanks again!
Just this past weekend I found two sets of playing cards from 1935. I’ve been jotting ideas down. Your project will definitely be added! These are so very sweet Nina!! ❤️
I'm absolutely thrilled that I found your channel. You have so many interesting and easy to do projects. I can't wait to get started on the napkin covered playing cards. Good tip for gluing three cards together, thanks. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with all us paper crafters. God bless you 💖 judyfromGA
Love the Altered Slice playing cards!! ❤️👏👍👍🤠 You really kept it so simple but it looks absolutely busy like you did so much more! I loved the way it came together especially the bulb pin charms! They really set them off along with the eyelets fantastic tutorial!! Thank You for sharing ❤️👍🤠
The rice paper illustrations are delightful. I’m off visiting Petra,Erin, and Luke, so I’ll participate once I return. Sure is fun being a baby with a walking baby! We’re having a grand ‘ole time.
Qué hermoso trabajo has hecho Nina, muy creativo, original, lo pondré en práctica.Un aplauso a la distancia para ti.Cariños desde Argentina 👏🏻😘 Patricia
Thanks so much. I think it’s fun to leave a glimpse of the card showing so you can tell it’s a playing card and not an ATC. It’s just fun to work on something small and they are great to trade too 💕
*i can confirm that once you start down this particular rabbit hole it becomes a serious addiction of sorts but in a good way...you will start noticing things that might be discarded that can be incorporated into a piece...maybe not right away but you'll start assembling things in your mind and what groups of images go together...here's a tip get a nice archival(ish) box and envelops and start your own collection of images...also remember to use neutral ph adhesive when putting things together...no glue sticks unless you're not interested in producing archival work to sell...i also use a gold paint pen to guild the edges of my cards...more of a personal aesthetic and subtle but it's nice when someone else notices...also a good idea to use a workable fixative or other protective/archival spray coating on the front and back of the cards...i then further protect them by placing them in individual card sleeves...yes, all this can get expensive if done all at once so i advise obtaining supplies slowly over time until you feel ready to have a go at this...*
Oh I do love that Stamperia Rice paper, I have the 12" x 12" pad as I just love Alice in Wonderland.... I seem to recall someone sending me some napkins in HM ha ha 😂😂🤔🤔💖💖🌼
Thank you so much Nina, I really really enjoyed watching you create these ATC’s. They are really really stunning and gorgeous too. And there’s nothing whatsoever simple about them. You have to have the idea, and then pull it off, which is what you’ve done. I was glad when you cut the sari silk down. Perfect Nina. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Hi Nina, I just LOVE watching you work at your table! These cards are so fun and colorful. I L O V E your brilliant threading technique! As much as I like doing ATC's, threading those tiny holes is a pain in the butt! Thank you for this delicious share!
*i've done altered playing cards and artist trading/collage cards for over a decade at this point but have been actively doing collage since high school (yeah, i'm old) currently assembling around 80 art cards simultaneously or at least the base/foundational layer of the cards since i let the individual cards dictate what direction they want to go so the themes of each develop very organically...cards can develop very quickly or take months depending on what i find*
I love these! My daughter is going to decorate her new office building with Alice in Wonderland. I need to get busy and make some of these for her grand opening.
These are wonderful. I, too, have a giant stash of charms from my jewelry making days. Once in awhile I actually remember to dig some out and use them on cards or journal pages. Happy spring!
These are fabulous! The rice paper you used is gorgeous! You always have such lovely surprises in your stash of goodies! I can’t believe you even had matching charms at hand!! This is going to be a fun month for sure! TFS I did. God bless and stay safe.
Thanks so much Evelyn. I’m really looking forward to this month too. Mini projects was something that was requested when we asked the group last year. I have tried so many crafts over the years and have accumulated a lot of supplies so I can usually put my hands on something. Have a wonderful week and thanks as always for sharing 💕 xo
Hi Nina! Thanks for the link to the sari silk. Simple? You are so funny! Your altered cards are amazing. I never knew that you left the faces showing through. I like that much better than covering them completely. Cheers!
Thanks Kay, glad you like the cards. Let’s hope the rain holds off for as long as possible today. A bit cloudy here at the mo, but I hear torrential rain is on the way. Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend too 💕 xx
Good morning nina, as you know I love doing small projects, so I am looking forward to the coming weeks. The cards looked beautiful, interesting to put the ribbons and charms in the corner.. Loved the one you decuded to go for the words and half of Alice..... she became Ali in Wonderland. Have a nice sunday and a good week, love and hugs lenaxxx
Thanks Ellie. We have such different styles and I love that aspect. We never discuss what we are going to create and that adds to the element of surprise for you and for us too. I’m sure one day we’ll end up doing something similar haha. Happy Creating 💕
Lovely cards :-) I like making small projects and altered playing cards/ATCs. My playingcards are coated with something (plasic?) so I find the glue or gesso fastens better if I sand them down slightly
Thanks Ingrid, I always used to sand mine down too, but I haven’t bothered with the last few and they’ve stuck just fine. Perhaps it is the cards I’m using 💕
Love these, Nina. I have that very same tissue paper in my stash somewhere. Time to dig it out. Hope you all are well, and enjoying some Spring weather.
Thanks Eugene, all is well here. We’ve enjoyed some wonderful Spring days, but winter has returned on and off as well and we had snow a couple of weeks ago. Yesterday was glorious, but torrential rain forecast today. Oh well, the garden needs it. Hope all is well with you and Mark as well. Happy Creating 💕
Oh my goodness, I really do need a crocodile now. Your ATC's are so pretty. I will post mine now. ☺♥
Thanks Joan, glad you like them 💕

I love the Alice playing cards, I also love your wire threading tool! Genius!!!!
