Two Minute Pockets from a 12"x12"

- These are some of the quickest pockets I make for journalling and a great way to use up 12"x12" spare pages, one sheet of 12"x12" will create four pockets which is more than enough for a journal.
I mass make these to build up my stash of ephemera bases, I'm sure you'll love them, I know I do.
I did mention that I couldn’t believe I was the first to do these pockets and it turns out I was right, a crafter called Rhoda Burks released a video a few weeks prior to mine where she created Faux Envelope Pockets, slightly different technique but with the same end result. Here is a link to Rhoda’s video. • Faux Envelope Pockets ...

Thank you Ceri, lovey clear instructions. I believe I can go and make a few of these now. Very often I watch a tutorial video thinking yes I can do that and when I get my supplies out I've forgotten most of what I've watched!!!! I tend to watch more videos instead of creating. Thank you.x.
Pauline, I watch a lot of videos as well and not all of them give you full instructions some people skip steps which drives me crazy as not everyone is experienced enough to know what to do.
Me too!!! And then I can’t find the video again.
Me too! This video is saved and I'm ready to craft. Ceri makes it fun ! ❤
Me too. I save the best videos under scrapbooking, then I have a journal for my crafting where I write down the title, author and details of something I need make and to buy for each video. Then I sleep on it, watch it again anytime later really fast and highlight in my journal the projects I intend on making. If I do t do it this way, I buy stuff and forget what I wanted to make. I am excited as this will be my very first scrapbooking project I will make.
What an easy way to make pockets. I'm going to make a bunch of them and have them ready. Thank you so much for sharing.
Yup, they’re great stash builders ready for decorating
I just watched Tina from Shabbydabbydoodah do some of these but she did 2 instead of 4 from each page. She linked this video so we could watch you, too. I'm glad I saw both because I think I will do 2 small and one large with each sheet. They are really fabulous with the Stamperia papers aren't they? Thanks so much for a great video and quick project. ☺️💜
So pleased we each had something to offer you Tina is great.
So lovely❤😊!
Thanks so much.
Your creativity is amazing.
I love your tutorials, Ceri. They’re among my favorites because they are so thorough! You might invest in a
6” X 18” quilting ruler for cutting 12”x12” and larger paper.
Great idea!!
Beautiful!...as you were cutting and glueing...I thought...oooohhh, nice for a little thank-you/just because/sympathy etc...have a blessed day!...or even a little card to add to gift package
Wonderful! Following your instructions makes it easy for me!
Wonderful
Cool ! Could add a magnet to back for the fridge!😊
Great idea!
Wow. So simple. Who knew, not me. Thank you from🇨🇦
Not my original idea but still a great one.
🇨🇦me too🇨🇦
Those are fab Ceri. I was so pleased to hear you say ‘that’s too pretty to decorate’. I’m a bit of a minimalist and sometimes think people decorate their ephemera to death! If it’s gorgeous leave it alone, if the paper is bleh decorate it!
Yup I agree.
YES!
These are cute and very pretty! I only make cards, and I think these would be a great focal element.
They could certainly be in the inside of a card as a gift card pocket.
Fabulous technique Ceri I love those little envelopes using DSP patterns that's hard to use.
It is
Thank you for the video it was a quick but very effective technique. One part that was especially informative was how many pockets it can create within journaling. it’s a great way to take some of that 12 x 12 pepper that we don’t care for and make it into some thing beautiful and useful.
Fabulous news Colleen, thank you for watching.
Hello from Oklahoma. I watched a lady use a fun retro paper yesterday, and she went on and on about the pattern only to cover it in the end. It was craziness. I enjoyed your dialect, personality and lessons. Thanks.
Thank you
So simple but so very nice. Thanks. New subbie. 😊❤
I've seen similar envelope pickets but this is crazy easy to copy so I'm going with this one. Thanks, Ceri! ~Velvet
Thank you

They certainly are, thank you.
Awesome... those giant pages plagued me Ceri! Thank you so much! 💓
You’re welcome
@@CeriGriffiths I was lying down... under the weather here. Tested no you know. Back to those pages we can't reasonably use them in a JJ because the pretty part gets cut in half. So it's use the back in leave it in the draw!
Hi ceri, just subscribed to your channel and wanted to let you know I'm so happy I found your channel. Watched a lot of videos already and really enjoy them. These cute two minute pockets I tried to make after watching this video and I'm using them to put atcs in for my atc trading with people all over the world.
Greetings from the netherlands. Irene
Thank you Irene and welcome to my channel.
Hi Ceri! :) Picked my papers, and I'm ready to go! I really love all of your tips and suggestions as you go. These little creations are quite adorable. Thank you for sharing this idea - Have a spectacular day~ Betty
Have a great day Betty.
Love these, Ceri! Super easy and so pretty! Love how quickly they can be created. I think I might have to do a batch for my Christmas journals. Thanks so much for sharing, my friend! Love and hugs to you! ❤️
Thank you Gayle, things that can be created quicker with high impact are always a winner in my book. I’ve seen your FB message and I’ll get back to you as I’ve just got up from a four hour sleep after my night shift, but our minds are on the same path.
Absolutely brilliant, Ceri!! 😁💖
Thank you
I loved every bit of this video. You are amazing!
Thank you
i love your channel thank you
Thank you, I love to share my arty journey.
I love Stamperia paper!
I love their rice papers as well.
@@CeriGriffiths mmm, oh yes. I forgot about their rice papers...they are majorly awesome!!
You are so easy to follow and listen to. You are very thorough and that helps me very much. This will be my first scrapbook project. I am a newbie and you give me the basics to scrapbooking. I will be subscribing and following. Thank you for not making a hour long video. It’s very difficult to pay attention that long. 😮 Can you please tell me what editing software you use? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what is the difference between ephemera and die cuts? I know I have a few questions and thank you in advance for
answering them.
Hi there and welcome, a die cut is a decorative piece which is cut using a die cutting machine and can be used in many ways for many projects, sometimes you will purchase pre cut images such as butterflies, people, flowers etc which some also refer to as die cuts. Ephemera basically is a term for any item that can be placed in a journal for extra writing space or decoration, for example journal cards, tags, etc. I’ve been very general in this explanation because those two terms are used so often for different items.
Sorry I forgot to say that I use iMovie to edit my videos.
I am obsessed with this video.
I love the dragon journal.
HHHAAAAAAA! A dragon journal. Why have I never thought to do one ? I love dragons. Even have a dragon tattoo.
So do I
Very nice 😘
Thank you
5:27 if you scored your 12x12 sheet while still whole, (before you do the diagonal cuts) you would reduce your scoring and moving paper by half. Save you a ton of time. ❤
Not thought of that thank you
There are a couple of pink ones. Worn Lipstick and Kitsch Flamingo. Victorian Velvet oxide is a little pinker than the regular distress ink. Spun Sugar is a super light pink color. 🥰
Great info thank you, pink is not a colour I use often so struggle to remember ink names around pink colours.
@@CeriGriffiths I completely understand. I'm not much of a pink person, but I went through them all looking for a dusty rose color. Lol. 🥰
I love this idea. I'm thinking of adding them to the inside of family Holiday cards. I could tuck in a gift card, some photos or bookmarks. Thanks so much! ❤
You could also vary the size for gift cards.
@@CeriGriffiths Thanks, Ceri. That's a good idea! ❤
Just found you...wonderful.....
Thank you Monica.
Hi Ceri, I love how creative you are. You are amazing!
I was just wondering, what is the name of that brown stuff you brush on the side of the envelope and what kind of glue you're using. Hopefully, you'll notice my note here❤😅. Thanks !
I use Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Ink in Vintage photo for the edges and the Glue I was using is a brand called Art Glitter and its a clear quick drying glue.
@@CeriGriffiths oh thank you so much for noticing me. Appreciated!
merci beaucoup our la video
Thank you
Please tell us more about these beautiful papers. I’m in the US. Where can l get them? I looked pretty much everywhere.
The papers or light craft card pad is by a company called Stamperia, they also do fantastic rice papers as well as other products. I normally purchase mine from eBay or amazon but I do know that you can order from Etsy also and I think they may have a website but I’m uncertain of that. They’re a very well known and respected company within the creative industry so I wouldn’t be surprised if they were in some of the craft stories as well.,
my ancestors are from swanzee wales.
Newport gal here 😊
my daughter did an ancestry search and we are boxer rebellion descendents. still raising hell in 2024.
I wonder what people use besides coffee dyed paper because it seems like everybody and their brother is using the same frame for making these journals and I am looking for other ideas cause sometimes the coffee on the paper looks really sloppy like breakfast. Dumped on it. I don’t know if other people feel that way, but…
Some use eco dyed papers, I’ve even seen papers dyed with other organic materials.
💜💜💜
Thank you
I call these "toy" envelopes...small & cute. Your choice of paper is beautiful for making these! Your video is easy to follow. thx you!
Great name.
Supercute
will a gift card fit in it
Nanc, the inside measurements of the finished envelope from a 12x12 is approx 3.75” wide x 3.75” tall (97mmx97mm), I think one should fit.
28:43 you didn’t put a link
Thank you for your comment I've just checked and the link is in the description box, however I've renewed the link just in case the link wasn't working properly.
Mine keep ending up lopsided 😢
Oh I’m not sure why that would happen, sorry to hear that.
Use washi tape to hold them together when you cut it 4:42
Good idea
I love these pockets! And thanks for the ideas on how to decorate them. I can’t wait to get started. New Subscriber! 😊
Thank you and welcome to my channel
I was today years old when I found your channel. I can't wait to get my chores done so I can play with my 12x12 cardstock. Blessings from Texas!
Have fun creating.
Forgot about these. I will be making them again. Working on my forth journal, after watching hundreds of videos. I am so hooked. Thank-you, still the best teacher.
Have fun
I had not thought about cutting numbers from pages. Wow thank you for the great tip! ❤
Such cute envelopes ✉️ ❤
You’re welcome, thank you
Love this idea and just in time for a journal I’m working on. Another use would be to fold back the top and turn this into a flip. I’m a newbie to journaling so just getting acquainted with all of the great UA-cam channels. You are definitely on my list for future watching. Thanks 😻.
Thank you Sue and welcome to my channel.
Love your work. Your eye for design is right on, you are organized and always in frame!
That’s so good to hear, thank you
For me these are fabulous. They look like they took a lot of skill but they are really so easy. At 70 years old I certainly appreciate when someone does a tutorial that is easy for me and doesn't require a lot of mental figuring. I would like to make several sizes because I have a lot of 6x6 and 8x8 stamperia paper pads. If I use an 8x8 and did the same thing do you know what 2 measurements I would score the lines at? 🤔
Well, he scored at 4 & 8,so he was dividing the 12 inches by 3. So, for 8 inches it would be 2 & 3/4 inches & then 5 & 1/2. That's if I did my Math correctly. Try it out with a scrap to begin with! 🤞💛 Checked a calculator & 8 divided by 3,gives the score line of 2.6 & 5.2 but I'm unsure of how to translate it into inches for you. 😕😞🤔☺️ 6x6 would score @2 inches & 4 inches ~ easy! 🥰❤️
Off the top of my head I don’t know the measurements but measure the longest side of the triangle and divide it into thirds these are then your score lines.
Yup its just divide the longest side into three measurements which gives you the two score lines.
@@CeriGriffiths much appreciated. Math was my worst subject in school. I thank God for rulers. 😀
@@love-light369 You you're so kind for taking the time to figure that out for me. Many thanks! 🌹
Ceri, you are correct, double stick tape Does lose its stickiness! I've had older projects, some from just a few years prior just completely come apart, even an indoor paper wreath that had Not been exposed to heat between doors, just regular indoor climate. I'm an Elmer's Glue All crafter. It's quicker than peeling all those tape liners, and more dependable for
holding for any length of time. I will use narrow tape on my cards and tags, but not something 3D or journals that I want to keep for awhile. 😏
you have the perfect voice/demeanor for teaching and explaining, thank you!
You're very welcome Audrey
Thanks! These are a great addition to any jj!
American here. Never heard it called Bulldog clip, but will now and forever be using the term!
