    I'm an American living south of Paris France. Our late 2008 EZGO RXV recently began showing the same symptoms: very very slow forward or reverse. Your video was a great inspiration; we ordered the Bearing Encoder Service Kit #612595 from the States. Received the part this morning and this afternoon the golf cart is running like new again! Many thanks for your clear instructions for this repair. The trick with the bench vise to safely insert the bearing encoder in to the end cap worked well for us. It would have been quite difficult otherwise.

    (2008 EZGO RXV) I have been searching UA-cam for months trying to find someone with similar issues as me, while your issue is the closest to mine, I can't say my cart chugs... My issue first started at the beginning of last summer (8 months ago), I would take the charging cable out, get in, turn the key to reverse, and it would start clicking, which I learned was the solenoid, it would continue to click until I shut the key off, but wouldn't move, also clicked in forward, but wouldn't move. After some time, I found that if I turned the key to reverse before removing the charging cable, it would go into reverse and the buzzer would come on, remove charging cable and it backed out of the garage just fine. However, when I put it in forward it slowly over time had weaker torque and top end. I replaced the solenoid, but that didn't completely remove the clicking issue, and the slow speed continues to get worse. Now, when in forward, the cart crawls, and when I go up a very minor incline, it struggles greatly and at times doesn't feel like it will make it. When I turn around and head back down the incline, it will pick up speed and then maintain. I've been lucky having a 120' driveway with a slight decline, so by the time I hit the street, I can get it up to about 9mph, then by the time I hit 400ft it's at 13-16mph; since this issue, I cannot acheive the 18mph top speed I used to when I bout the cart 1yr ago. I spoke with the local EZGO dealer and they were perplexed, which makes me wonder if they just want me to bring it in. Not how I would handle the situation if I owned the business, but I get it, we're not all built the same. I bought a new Navitas 600a controller, which I told the dealer about, but the instructions clearly state, if there's an issue with the cart I should diagnose and fix the issue before installing the controller. Which I notice you did not do, and your situation turned out fine, so you're giving me more confidence that I could install and if it's the old Danaher controller, I'll save myself some headache... Apologies for the long comment, but you're the first video that's given me some hope of resolving this issue myself. I did buy a new Brake/Accelerator Pedal sensor, part number 6000019, but I see you changed yours and that didn't do anything. But I also don't have the chugging, so I'm optimistic. The dealer suggested the accelerator sensor because of the solenoid clicking sound, they said it shouldn't click until I press the pedal, and suggested the sensor was stuck in the open/closed position causing it to click. As I write this and think about the speed issue, I'm becoming more and more convinced that the part you replaced might also be my issue, and the chugging is just one of multiple symptoms, only because if that cart will get up to speed on a decline, then the bearing starts to operate more normally because it's past the point of just sitting idle, what's your thoughts on that scenario? Anyway, again, sorry for the long comment, I'm in IT like you, I have a habit of trying to give as much info as possible. 🙂 I didn't even mention batteries, all 4 AGM batteries tested great, 13.8 to 14V, so I've ruled them out.

    Great video as always!
    I myself own a 2009 EZGO RXV.
    I had the same issue and replaced the cider bearing with no luck with fixing my issue.
    Replacing the motor did the trick. I also have a Navitas 600amp controller. I replaced my old batteries with Big Battery Husky Lithium 103 Ah. No regrets here. (Great battery)I also installed front disc brake since it reaches speeds of 43 mph.

      Awesome. I thought about adding front disc brakes, but I’m not looking at high speed in the woods. I was concerned about the motor being the problem too, so I am prepared to replace it when that moment comes. I’ll replace it with the Navitas motor.

      @@SouthernRootsOutdoors Like @davidstokes-lopez mentioned about the battery. If you decide to go with a big battery I have a discount code to save some money on any of their batteries. I've enjoyed watching this content of the cart.

      Thanks for commenting brother. I’m a subscriber of yours as well. I may take you up on that. I was hoping to get a sponsorship on this, but I guess 1.16k subs isn’t generating a lot of excitement like it does to me. 🤣

    What was the intial issue you was having, mine was in limp mode , I have changed the speed sensor which has go it to run but it is start stop / jerky when going forward ,
    The next thing on my list is the encoder bearing

      Hey Ryan. My cart actually did two things. When it was given to me, I was told the cart would go, but was chugging at times. When I got on it to load on the trailer, it barely moved. It was extremely slow. I believe the controller fixed that, but when I drove it, the cart was chugging hard,sporadically, like I was bouncing my foot on the gas. When I replaced the encoder bearing, it was all good.

      Yes chugging is a better word for it , that’s the same as mine, encoder bearing to be changed next ,
      cheers for the video it will be helpful when changing the encoder bearing 👍🏻👍🏻

      Yes, do not tap on it with anything. Those encoders are sensitive.

      I was having the same issue of limp mode with my 2008 rxv. Watched your video and i was incredibly helpful in changing out the encoder bearing.
      when i removed the old encoder bearing it was loose and popped right out, was the same loose scenario with new encoder bearing that i installed.
      after putting it all back together with a new ebrake, it surges in forward but runs smoothly in reverse. any ideas ??
      thanks again for the video

    What’s the new top speed with a Navitas and those old trojan batteries?

    • @SouthernRootsOutdoors
      @SouthernRootsOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      The fastest I've gotten it to with those batteries and the original motor, was just over 25mph - maybe 27ish mph (per the Navitas app speed). However, I may have had the max speed set to 25 or so, due to stability until I install spacers.

    What are the symptoms for a bad encoder bearing? I just replaced all 4 batteries in a 2008 RXV and cart goes through the sounds and gyrations but motor sounds like it’s slipping when you press the accelerator.

    • @SouthernRootsOutdoors
      @SouthernRootsOutdoors  Рік тому

      Sorry for the delay. The encoder symptoms are usually like it’s wanting to go, but chugs or barely moves. It finally reached a point that it wouldn’t move at all. Yours almost sounds like the splines between the motor and differential are messed up, or the brake is sticking. Is it moving at all?

      You have to have a special code reader for that. However, most golf cart sales or repair shops will do it for a small fee. Look one up and give them a call.
