Her First Deer is an 8-Point Buck!!!
Maggie (15yrs old) asked me if she could skip school (10th grade) one day so I could take her hunting, during this last couple of weeks of the semester before Christmas, since she had all A’s and wouldn’t have to take finals (Lumpkin County High School’s policy). I agreed, knowing there was an eight point buck that she had been scoping out on my buddies property down in South Forsyth County, in North Georgia.
In the south part of Forsyth County, you can only hunt shotgun, muzzleloader, or bow, so she took my crossbow and I took her over there. She had just completed the DNR Hunter’s Safety Course two weeks ago, and bought her own hunting license.
There was a 6-point buck and a big 8-point buck that we had seen, and we thought this was that big 8-point that walked out around 8 AM. When we went out to recover him, he wasn’t the big 8-point - he was the one we thought was a six point, but he ended up being a narrow 8-point buck as well.
This dad couldn’t be prouder!

I'm an American living south of Paris France. Our late 2008 EZGO RXV recently began showing the same symptoms: very very slow forward or reverse. Your video was a great inspiration; we ordered the Bearing Encoder Service Kit #612595 from the States. Received the part this morning and this afternoon the golf cart is running like new again! Many thanks for your clear instructions for this repair. The trick with the bench vise to safely insert the bearing encoder in to the end cap worked well for us. It would have been quite difficult otherwise.
Woow👍
The only downside compared to some competitive products is that it doesn't come with a grille grate.
Great review thx
the directions in the book said DONT use the gray wire.... where did you put the gray wire that comes from the resistor????? Thank you
Never walk with the crossbow on your back with an arrow in the bow! and you might want to take the arrow out before you take pictures with the arrow pointing right at the father. They do misfire. Please be careful!
Gongrats 👍🙂 but why do daddy walk straith in front of her loded crossbow ?
AWESOME! Way to go!
Thank you. She’s hyped!
Congratulations that's awesome
Thanks for watching. She’s so happy.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
I've definitely found it easier to clip and tighten the straps underneath while it's on its side.
We’ll keep that in mind next time.
I just bought one and walmarts app had it at $69.00 and $88.00 in store so they matched the $69.00 price so it ended up about $73.00
I also heard these cameras don't do videos
Sometimes I think they do that stuff intentionally, because most people don’t check it. Always verify.
Cheers 🍻
Cheers friend 🍻
What are the symptoms for a bad encoder bearing? I just replaced all 4 batteries in a 2008 RXV and cart goes through the sounds and gyrations but motor sounds like it’s slipping when you press the accelerator.
Sorry for the delay. The encoder symptoms are usually like it’s wanting to go, but chugs or barely moves. It finally reached a point that it wouldn’t move at all. Yours almost sounds like the splines between the motor and differential are messed up, or the brake is sticking. Is it moving at all?
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors I had failed to plug in the cable to the brake section on the motor. Thanks for your reply and educational video.
Part 2???
Sorry for the delay. Had some medical & family issues that has pulled me away. I am planning to get back on UA-cam soon. This was part 2: Changing the Encoder Bearing | 2010 EZGO RXV | How to Upgrade a Golf Cart to Hunting Buggy - Part ua-cam.com/video/ttQkKvwn8es/v-deo.html
Aye bro that Danaher is a pain in the rear. Take off the resistir 1st for a little room Hows the RXV running as of today ?
It’s running good. Batteries just need to be replaced. I’m saving up for lithium.
I went with the Big Battery Badgers. So far so good .
@asalazar109 I need to see if someone will sponsor a battery video. I’m going to reach out to a few companies.
2008 RXV 48v lead acid, Navitas TAC 2 600 amp, Trombetta 600/300 solenoid, # 0 cables on batteries, 205/60r10 tires and I get 37 mph at full charge
I’m saving for lithium battery(s) now. My lead acids are 10yrs old and they are now going out.
Same here with 20” tires.
I have the same year 48V cart and would appreciate some information!
@@b.a.ward. whatcha need to know? Happy to help
@@CristianZamora Can I email you? I've got so many questions about your build!
How do i test my controller i think it may be bad Same cart
You have to have a special code reader for that. However, most golf cart sales or repair shops will do it for a small fee. Look one up and give them a call.
doing a good job
To be honest, I’m not getting service from it anymore. I need to go get it and move it. There isn’t good cellular service in that area. A lot of people are saying that those cameras are trash after a few months, so I’m hoping that it didn’t just decide to stop transmitting all together. I will update everyone when I get the camera back. It’s 3hrs away at my hunt camp.
NICE UNBOXING VIDEO SIR
Thank you. Will be doing a 2nd video of install and use soon.
🔥🔥
Look forward to seeing it installed and running.
Just got a twin pack. New to game camera, so your video was just what I needed. I plan buying a 12 volt battery for my camera. Maybe a solar panel to keep it charged. Thanks again.
There are a lot of negative views of these cameras. Only issue I’ve had is mine is in a bad service area - I just hoped it would get a bar now and then to send me pictures. It hasn’t. I bought an external antenna for it but haven’t gotten it installed yet. My property is 2.5hrs away.
What was the intial issue you was having, mine was in limp mode , I have changed the speed sensor which has go it to run but it is start stop / jerky when going forward , The next thing on my list is the encoder bearing
Hey Ryan. My cart actually did two things. When it was given to me, I was told the cart would go, but was chugging at times. When I got on it to load on the trailer, it barely moved. It was extremely slow. I believe the controller fixed that, but when I drove it, the cart was chugging hard, sporadically, like I was bouncing my foot on the gas. When I replaced the encoder bearing, it was all good.
Yes chugging is a better word for it , that’s the same as mine, encoder bearing to be changed next , cheers for the video it will be helpful when changing the encoder bearing 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, do not tap on it with anything. Those encoders are sensitive.
I was having the same issue of limp mode with my 2008 rxv. Watched your video and i was incredibly helpful in changing out the encoder bearing. when i removed the old encoder bearing it was loose and popped right out, was the same loose scenario with new encoder bearing that i installed. after putting it all back together with a new ebrake, it surges in forward but runs smoothly in reverse. any ideas ?? thanks again for the video ty
👍👍
Good job
wow
Amazing
What’s the new top speed with a Navitas and those old trojan batteries?
The fastest I've gotten it to with those batteries and the original motor, was just over 25mph - maybe 27ish mph (per the Navitas app speed). However, I may have had the max speed set to 25 or so, due to stability until I install spacers.
Have they held up with rain etc.?
Yes, haven’t had any issues. Bad service area, so I bought an extended antenna that I will mount on it next week. No rain issues though.
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors okay thanks for the fast response. I haven’t bought one yet because I was worried that the service wouldn’t be strong enough. Where I’d be putting it is a spot where service cuts in and out on my phone. Still not sure if I should risk it and buy one. Where can you buy and extended antenna
I would recommend getting an external antenna if you do. I’m heading to my hunting property next week, so I will respond to you after that and let you know how the camera is doing. It’s about 2 1/2 hours away. I don’t get pictures all the time like I should, but then a bunch will come through. I will be installing this external antenna and that should help. I will update you how well the antenna helps.
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors okay thank you for the help 👍
So, I was at the property last week, and didn't get a free moment to run out and check the camera. I didn't even get to install the antenna. That tropical storm came thru from Florida, and shut us down for a day or so. I'll let you know when I get back down there (hopefully the first or second weekend in December). My buddy has the same camera down there though, and checked on his. He said his is definitely waterproof, but it doesn't always send the pictures. Most people are saying the Flex cameras are much better, and another buddy said he went solely to tactacam due to that.
Love to see him
Great video as always! I myself own a 2009 EZGO RXV. I had the same issue and replaced the cider bearing with no luck with fixing my issue. Replacing the motor did the trick. I also have a Navitas 600amp controller. I replaced my old batteries with Big Battery Husky Lithium 103 Ah. No regrets here. (Great battery)I also installed front disc brake since it reaches speeds of 43 mph.
Awesome. I thought about adding front disc brakes, but I’m not looking at high speed in the woods. I was concerned about the motor being the problem too, so I am prepared to replace it when that moment comes. I’ll replace it with the Navitas motor.
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors Like @davidstokes-lopez mentioned about the battery. If you decide to go with a big battery I have a discount code to save some money on any of their batteries. I've enjoyed watching this content of the cart.
Thanks for commenting brother. I’m a subscriber of yours as well. I may take you up on that. I was hoping to get a sponsorship on this, but I guess 1.16k subs isn’t generating a lot of excitement like it does to me. 🤣

NOS purging.
Take that prize! 😉
My grandfather came from Sicily and as a child he would take me to his cold cellar to watch him mount the antlers He had other small game hanging as he had prize beagles and would hunt often 30 years later my sons were joining the local hunting club! 😉
That’s awesome. Thank you for sharing. It’s amazing how these traits & activities get passed down thru generations.
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors It is I never went out since Dad said I talked too much🤣 Later on my one brother taught me to shoot working one on one!
Such a good stories. It reminds me of when I was about 10, & my dad took me Turkey hunting. He put me in a blind and told me he would walk thru the woods and push the turkeys out toward me. Sitting there, I was getting bored so I started trying to call them. Problem is, I forgot my dad shared a radio headset with me to communicate, and he was listening the whole time. All of a sudden I hear, “What the hell are you doing!?” I was so embarrassed. He said, “that’s why I put you in the blind - you can’t sit still and you talk to much when you get bored…” hahaha 🤣
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors Hysterical! 😂
Bang That was the last chance for him

why is the deer smoking
Angry
He is exhaling. Like when we can see our breath in a really chilly day.
Deer blow to sound aggressive and scare off predators. He knows something is there, but not sure what. He takes off since his blowing doesn’t scare anything away.
@@SouthernRootsOutdoors naaahhhh that's just him releasing excess hatred
Yeah… probably right.
Looking forward to getting one! Thanks for the info.
Make sure you click the bell for notifications. Some really cool videos coming on this build such as adding 22-23” wheels, vinyl wrapping the body in camo, adding gun & bow mounts, brush guard with winch, etc. 👍🏼
Awesome job!
Do you have merch available yet? I would like to get a t-shirt.

There is always a bigger fish.
Always. 👍🏼
wow that's insane right there.
If you need any advice just send me an email. I own the same exact cart with a Navitas 600amp controller. I can probably answer of your questions.
Man, I appreciate that. I will definitely reach out. I notice some little quirks that were't there before, so I have a few questions.
Man how do i test my controller i have a 2010 RXV giving me fits of rage
good
Thank you!
am i supposed to use a thin mattress or foam with this?
You really don’t need anything more than a blanket or a sleeping bag. It’s pretty comfortable if you don’t get cold at night.
It's much more comfortable, and dramatically warmer, with a good pad. But you could do fine without one if it's not cold.
When are you gonna give us an update
It’s coming soon! Next video will be installing the motor encoder bearing. That’ll be a good one & very informing. Not any videos out there showing this process.
Nice video! Keep it up
Thank you!
