Hi Dan, Nice video. Just wanted to make sure you know you can walk/fly through your scene just by going into the regular "flymode" ( SHIFT ~ + ) once you've started VR! TAB turns gravity on and off. You have to navigate around with keyboard WASD and spacebar even jumps you from point to point. Enjoy. Can't wait until they improve the quality of the vr visuals or add controller support and some editing controls!
Thanks for the tip! Will have to check that out next time I dive into VR - my main issue is performance, in complex scenes it gets quite laggy unfortunately!
beautiful little sea scene. I got interested in VR again at the idea of using VR with blender. Now few years later. Are you able to manipulate or do modelling using a VR headset? That sounds like fun to me.
how far out until we get scene building? Grab some items out of your asset browser and physically place them around in the scene - exactly how you want them oriented. Is this type of stuff int he works yet?
Very good video! query: I have a 10m² scene (a school room) can you walk inside the room meters with the VR connected to a notebook, watching the walk in the Blender scene and record the frames for the camera animation? I don't know if it was more or less understood because I use a translator.
Just installed latest blender and the VR tab doesn't show up when enabled in preferences. In fact that blender 3.5 keeps crashing on my laptop. I switched back to 3.1 and the tab is there and it seems more stable too.
Hey! I exported it as jpg frames and I´m editing on premiere. I´m pretty lost on how I have to export it, I can see it and move it arround as VR experience, but when it comes to exporting I don´t know how to proceed. Do you know how its done? :)
What do you have to do to install inside Oculus to use blender on PC communicating with my Oculus? Your video doesnt explain this technical installation
Hello Dan, I just got the Oculus 2 and I am having a difficult time setting up. I have had help and we have tried every which way, but something is still preventing me from being able to use VR with Blender. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to help me via zoom? Please let me know if this is something you would be willing to do. Thank you, Whitley
Hi Whitly Other than going through these two links I wouldn't be able to via zoom as this video is old now and I no longer have a VR headset. All I did to get this working was follow the steps outlined here. docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/getting_started/configuration/hardware.html#hardware-head-mounted-displays docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/addons/3d_view/vr_scene_inspection.html
@@DanPos Hi Dan, Thank you for getting back with me. I will be sure to look at these links. Just out of curiosity, why do you no longer have VR headset?
How the fuck do you move the position when you are in VR mode in headset??? Its just stuck in one position and can't move it no matter what the fcuk I do in Blender!! I can go into "walk" mode and see the screen viewport moving, but the headset view of scene does not move at all!
Low poly objects aren't too bad but once you have some more complex models things start to really break up even with a good GPU. Great start, but looking forward to further development from Blenders side. Thanks for sharing!
Nice

5:20 - You need to set eevee samples to 1 in the viewport.

But how did you rendered it in 3:30 ? I see only grey boxed or unlit scene

Hi, What kind of GPU do you think I need for vive pro? Cus I tried it on my 1080 recently and it was very blurry :( Do I need to upgrade? Thank you
Does anyone has the problem of "Failed to query OpenXR runtime information. Do you have an active runtime set up?
"
Getting this too

i wait for stream vr support for the quest and a blender UI for VR official
yeah it definitely needs a lot more work!
Thanks for the video, interested to see the updates.
Glad you liked it!
viewport in vr : usless / sculpting in vr is nex gen.... like kodon ,medium , Masterpiece Studio Pro ; thx for this video

Offline Suite (1a)236mins) .scene (above the clouds) near an Alyx citadel for scale. Will attempt to send link at some point 👍
Very good!!!
Nice job. Are you able to use it in sculpt mode to sculpt models in VR?
The performance was terrible so I dont think so!
@@DanPos Ah, that would have been such a sweet use case for modeling. What gpu are you running if you don't mind?
@@threeelancer I've tried this on my old 1060 and my new 3080 and performance is similarly terrible unfortunately
@@threeelancer Adobe Medium!
Might be sound impossible but im curious, is it possible to view it in Cycles render mode? Or it is gonna lag
It was barely visible in Eevee haha, I think my computer would have blown up in Cycles
Can I use VR support in Blender for a Revit Model for a building?
I'm sure you can if you can keep your poly count low.

You don't need to install anything on the Quest, you do need a link cable though! I will try to get a set up video made in the next week or so

How do you get Open XR to work with Quest 2?
I ended up using the link cable to run this through Steam VR if I remember rightly.
