With how hype and exciting the Legends ZA announcement was, I figured it'd be fun to share what some of my viewers thoughts on the matter are in a more casual and fun general discussion. This is just a brief change of pace from my regular video essay style of prepared content. Next video's about Red's final boss fight from the Gen 2 games. Let me know if you enjoy this style of content. If you do, I'll probably make more of these "Teatime Talks" when we get a Nintendo Direct or major game announcements in the future. Also yes, I brewed myself some proper pots of tea when working on this. Specifically hojicha and fukamushi sencha. The Tea is important.
Here's how being only in lumiose could work out: -larger representative scale. -the pokemon version of the massive parisian catacombs serve as the new dungeons, parks, glades, and canals serve as the overworld encounter spots. -this game is likely set in the renovation of paris, where the city was turned from a classic old world city into the modern day metropolitan city we know today, so there's likely more woodlands and sub-villages in the area from the beginning.
@@brotbrotsen1100 from the way its worded, literally just in the city, but that's not a big deal because this should be 1800's paris which is isn't at all like modern paris/lumiose. It was more like a bunch of villages next to each other and a crap ton of forests, caverns/catacombs, and rivers criss crossing throughout. What it looks like now is the post-redevelopment project which was completed in the 1870s, with the eiffel tower/prism tower being completed in 1889 (same time period legends arceus takes place in).
By the way, the Let's Go prototype build shows that we were to get 2 third entries. KALOS_RESERVED_1 and KALOS_RESERVED_2 are listed in the debug option for generating a mon, as part of a numbering system that keeps track of what exact game a mon's been caught in. My guess is that they would've been called A/Z, XZ/YZ or straight up just X2/Y2. Know this though, they did not intend for just Z by itself.
finally someone talking about the economic incentives behind the Pokémon games! Have been saying this for a while but people really don't seem to get this and ever since the Switch games came out came to very weird conclusions or were rambling about how much money they make and therefore should higher quality games.
I wasn't aware that aparently Legends AZ was going to take place in Luminose city, but asuming that's true, and the fact we don't know the time period the game takes palce (just because legends: Arceus happened in the past, doesn't mean all legends games will be the same), so we could have a situation where this could be a legends game that either take place in the present, or in the future, maybe in the future Luminose city expanded and grew even bigger than what we know, it's suposed to be Paris afterall. Also another reason why Legends AZ is such a big deal is because, mega evolution is going to come back, and we might even get new mega evolutions.
14:50 I do wonder how many models they made for specific X and Y though. Because Gates to Infinity and Pokedex 3D Pro came out before this (and Dream Radar, but that only had 3 models in it so...shush) So I wonder how many models were taken from those games and put into X and Y. So I wonder how many original models they did have to make. But even if some of the previous pokemon were already made, you also have to take into account that they also had to make models for everything else in the game as well. Buildings, Decorations, Humans, Overworld Elements (like Cars, flowers, etc.) all had to be modeled as well as the pokemon. So I could definitely see some corners being cut for X and Y just with how intensive making all these models must have been.
If you can get it, I personally recommend Hojicha from Ippodo Tea or Marukyu Koyaemen, though I'd assume they probably cost a lot more to ship outside of Asia... Good hojicha is absolutely worth paying that bit extra for.
I wouldn't discount the possibility of "port" for XY or maybe both gen5 games this year. As far as ZA, I'd love to see this be yakuza-like in game design with dozens of side-content minigames especially if we get a Majima Everywhere system for our rival. I'm hoping while sure we can get new megas, Battle Bond gets explored like they would have in Z.
I doubt that the starters are going to receive a mega evolution on top of a regional evolution, I suspect that it will not be the starters of this game that will receive megas, but rather the original Kalos starters, it would also be another reference to what happened with the Kanto starters in X&Y
I wasn't expecting Pokemon Z-A, but MAN AM I HYPED. Pokemon XY was my first real Pokemon game, and it holds a special place in my heart. Kalos is the single most underrated region in Pokemon history, so I'm glad its getting a comeback.
I know they'll likely do what they did in Legends Arceus with having three different region's starters... But I kinda wish they would give the og starters more attention. They _deserve_ to have Mega forms. The fact that the starter Pokemon for the very region the mechanic was introduced didn't even get to use it still baffles me to this day.
But megas were introduced to give some older pokemon time to shine. It wouldn't make sense if they created a new final stage pokemon with a need for power boost from the start. If we got mega Goodra for example, wouldn't that take people's attention from newly introduced pokemon Goodra? Diance is an exeption because it's event exclusive and was there to promote the movie.
I like to think that those early leaks of the unova remakes were just GF’s way of testing how the fans would react prior to releasing it, after seeing quite a bit of backlash on it they might’ve decided to cancel it this year and take more time to overhaul it and give it a proper remake treatment akin to hgss and oras I know that’s unlikely but it would explain why there’s no game announced for this year
Really love the teatime talk! It's nice to get the perspective of a game designer on a lot of the theories and thoughts floating around out there - Kalos has always had a special place in my heart and I'm so excited we can go back and finally learn more about it. Legends is truly such a breath of fresh air for the franchise and I really hope this upcoming game is just as good as Arceus was - Kalos deserves a good game!
I think that it will be interesting to see the impacts of how this game performs (sales wise). If it really is very different PLA and does well then the legends series could go on to be a wonderful sandbox for gamefreak to play around with. If it's very different and flops then I could see it killing the legends series or at the very least making it pivot back to being more like PLA. Of course if it's similar to PLA and flops then that wouldn't be a good omen for the future of the legends series.
Even if remakes get removed from the formula, I hope some means of revisiting old regions in a new light will always be there. Either way we need Kyurem's true form.
I had higher odds placed on a gen 6 tie in game being shown on pokemon day than a comment of mine actually appearing in a video! I wouldn't consider this an end to the cycle of predictability with pokemon games. Even gens tend to be formulaic whereas odd generations are defined by doing the unexpected. gen 3 had the first remake, gen 5 did sequels, gen 7 had a retelling + a remake of a game that already had remakes, and now 9 has legends Z. The real anomaly comes from having legends Arceus releasing alongside BDSP in gen 8.
I'm going to assume the game probably has either time-travel or dimensional straddling to justify the mention that it takes entirely within Luminose City. little curious about Quasar's project on the town though. wherever if it was a retrospective project that someone initially devised for the town, or if the CG is supposed to imply that it takes place long after XY and SV. if it involves Zygarde, it'd probably be a little weird to explain where professor sycamore found his Zygarde Cube from. if it is a earlier Luminose being developed, i'd just guess it's going to integrate the player character being a construction worker/surveyer and has to capture pokemon for jobs. kinda like a city builder. if its in the future, maybe it's a Yakuza/Cyberpunk-type game? though there's only so much they can do within the constraints of the city unless it's size was exaggerated, or you can do fantastical things like dive and enter the catacombs. or just the caverns under Kalos entirely. i would guess that Zygarde could be mostly-indisposed by some evil gang who found a way to control its cells to create mindless drones they can command; which somehow gives you your transport, or just new forms in general. (the minus sign does have a vague amount of Xerneas and Yveltal-ooloured blue and red on the inner outlines) Thought it was kind of unusual how they danced around Zygarde (and to a lesser extent Ash-Greninja and the idea of a Pokemon Z) when its complete/core/10% forms were initially revealed on the pokemon website. at that point, all we had was the Red Core appearing at the end of Hoopa's movie in japan (which debuted its unbound form), but then we got SM. long after establishing that there are 2 different-colored cores in the anime canon. the game-canon mentions there being 5 Cores (somehow not in Kalos) all red, in Alola. not helped that the Blue Core Zygarde was not revealed until a few months after Magearna's movie. yet Squishie (the red core zygarde) was able to shift to its 100% form on its own. though that could be explained by a movie taking a lot more work to produce, whereas the anime probably has a week or two buffer before rolling out. Also, the idea that the 5 cores controls the Wings and tail was only mentioned on the official site, implying a late addition. curious if the Blue Core zygarde is going to come in with its unused texture IDs.
I'm wondering if they might avoid Torchic and Charmander as starters since their standard versions have Mega Evolutions. I feel Scorbunny or Litten are much more likely as fire starters, more likely the former imo.
So I could see you start in the middle with some developments around and you’re expanding, Zygarde being the nature guardian of Kalos would be the problem to undertake, I wonder if that’s an angle this will go? As for the complaint a lot of people had with the first Legends game, the limited Pokèdex, I actually liked that. Think, these games probably take place before a lot of the world connected to each other, so a smaller amount to encounter in a region makes far more sense. Also like you mentioned, without having to worry about modeling a crap ton of Pokémon they have more time to focus on everything else
One thing worth noting is that every remake only came out after the first generation on a new console. FRLG came out on the GBA, HGSS on the DS, ORAS on the 3DS, and BDSP on the Switch. If we're ever to get gen 5 remakes, it likely won't be until after the next generation on a new console Also, I don't think BDSP were bad games. They added cool things like more competitive teams for the gym leaders and the ability to catch pokemon from the Platinum dex underground, but for whatever reason it didn't *feel* like they added that much to the originals And I think that's a combination of not looking very different from the originals and not being able to use newer mons I actually like the chibi art style, but it means they missed out on the opportunity to reimagine people and locations in more/different detail. And I think that's literally because they weren't reimagining it; since ILCA didn't make the originals, the were imagining the games for the first time. I feel like if they took more risks, maybe consulted with employees at GF that worked on DPP about what they could change, the games would be more interesting As for using newer Pokemon, I don't mind using having to just use mons from the originals for the main story, but in the past I feel like when a remake has come out, everyone switches over to those being the main games to play, and they transfer all their other mons to those games. Not to mention, remakes have always given new tools and moves to mons of the generations that came out before it, and I feel like the lack of that reward discouraged people from playing through it What I'm trying to get at here (TLDR) is that I feel like ILCA have the capability to make good gen 5 remakes, they just have to stop sticking so strictly to the originals, because ironically, that makes remakes worse
I would replace Torchic/Charmander with Litten since they may be giving megas to the starters and it would be weird if one of the starters just used an older one from a decade ago. Unless you go with the angle that they'll do something similar to the original and give all the Johto starter megas instead of the main starters. That or all the starters will be Charmander and he'll get 3 new mega stones.
To go back to the Poll, I think the topic of The End is interesting, but mostly for people who haven't had a lot of experience with MGS3, because I did 20+ runs of MGS3DS and killed him like 4 different ways, so the topic would have been boring to me personally.
I feel like at this point rather than want remakes of the older games, I just want a series of straight collections/rereleases. The black and white duology are incredible games but legal means to play them are way pricier and mroe difficult than they should be, encouraging piracy if you want to try out the games everyone praises so much but weren't intersted, or even alive for at the time (The games are 12+ years old this will be a steadily increasing issue), we dont need a one gen at a time fancy remake structure, even if pokemon fans are used to receiving that, I just want there to be some way to play these games readily available.
From a production point of view, I expect Z-A to be sort of a testing ground for the next open world games, just in a controlled environment. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a fancy weather system or something like that. My random prediction is that Z-A is going to have its own quirky experimental battle system, different from the main series AND Arceus. My bet is on some pseudo real-time battles with cooldowns, like Xenoblade (based on absolutely nothing)
I’d love to see more off-the-cuff reactions from you. Even the stuff you don’t spend much time on is interesting. Anyway, I’m curious how your statement that game devs don’t really run out of ideas contrasts with Mark Rosewater’s obsession with how much design space there is in any given MTG mechanic. Is this a point of disagreement between you two or am I misunderstanding one or both of you?
I don't see any particular contradiction here. Rosewater's statements are correct. Like he said, there's really only so much you can do with any single game mechanic until it becomes tired and uninteresting. No matter how fun a game mechanic might be, players will naturally grow tired of it after enough times. So designers will need to constantly introduce new elements into the mix to freshen up the gameplay. This is what I mean by "designers never run out of ideas". Game designers shouldn't purely be restricted into designing gameplay around the tools that already exist within the game - they need to be experimenting to invent completely new features and mechanics to introduce and change the way the game is played. Not all of these are *good* ideas, sure, but you won't ever create a good mechanic if you are afraid of exploring bad ideas first. Take Mega Evolutions for example. They are an incredibly cool mechanic. However, as with any other mechanic, they have a limited shelf life. Each new Mega created results in diminishing returns compared to the last. And their design of being only 1 per team, while necessary for balance, indirectly restricts newer and more experimental Mega designs from being viewed as exciting and viable. SV's Paradoxes are also the same, though that's less for mechanical reasons and moreso for flavor. The initial batch were incredibly cool and exciting. But as more got introduced, people gradually began losing interest over time. I'm fairly sure the new ones like Gouging Fire are less hype compared to the first batch like Sandy Shocks. I've no doubt one of the reasons why they decided to shift away from Megas after Gen 7 was because they realized Megas were gradually becoming stale, and they needed a different mechanic.
1:56 to be fair, a lot of creative fields can come close to a "ran out of ideas" state, like long running series, this has been mentioned by the simpsons and spongebob that making new episodes gets proggressively difficult, and as a digital painter trying to make a monster taming game i can assure you that getting ideas for design in the first place is challenging, besides im pretty sure they never reffered to the game design side of pokemon considering that they never experimented in the first place
three things from me one, i actually expected them to announce some sort of heartgold/soulsilver remake in the engine of bdsp for some reason, i'm not saying that's a good thing, that's just what i was assuming would happen secondly, i personally think they won't do regional variants in legends z-a, but instead will go all-in on new megas? just some speculation i suppose lastly, i'd be completely fine if they just drop remakes entirely as long as they can rerelease the older titles. i don't understand what's holding them back from making some sort of app on switch to do it even if they don't use the switch online app, the titles are fully compatible with switch online's emulators and online systems, so i don't really get why they don't just take the free money from rereleasing the first 3 generations
Not only did Kalos as a region deserve this, Zygarde himself absolutely deserved this. The dude was a rando in a cave in X and Y and in Sun & Moon he was a side quest gather mission. Some people may not have even thought Zygarde was a Legendary initially due to how lacklustre finding him was.
Pokémon has always been innovating and changing things up so I wouldn’t say predictable Predictability isn’t the samething as tradition They have always experimented with new concepts and mechanics Like breeding, natures, abilities, following pokemon, overworld encounters, physical special split, mega evolution,Zmoves, gigantamax/dynamax amie/refresh/camping, even motion controls from let’s go do these features not count as evolving/progressing are these things not ambitious? The restructuring of the traditional Pokémon format by having the third legendary as the main focus not to mention being the first Pokémon games ever to do DLC and the regional evolutions Also the various QoL stuff even having dynamax and gigantamax and you would not have SV without the wild area all of these new ideas and things for the franchise Are these not ambitious I mean all these things have changed the franchise in substantial ways Every generation offers something ambitious is replacing gyms with trials not ambitious? Or making the galar league a tournament like the anime instead of a traditional elite four is that not ambitious Sure none of them have ever been this super drastic But to say it’s “not innovating” is a bit disingenuous Has the steps in previous games been a bit smaller I mean sure But baby steps and even medium steps is still progression Why do we count this and not those Shouldn’t it all count? Some of these things maybe temporary but they are still creative and ambitious and drastically change the course of the franchise so they count They like to get to things at their own pace when they feel ready that’s why sv ended up how it did because the fanbase pushed them to make the franchise open world before they were ready they said numerous times pokemon and open world don’t mix and we didn’t listen I’m just sayin if they end up dropping open world for Gen 10 Because people didn’t like Gen 9 then don’t blame them They tried it it didn’t work and now they move on
I'm very excited for this game and I agree with your starters choice, I agree that Kalos needed a legends game with how underwhelming lots of people felt about it. I do think new Megas could be introduce and I definitely think the Kalos starters and many others will get new Mega evolutions.
ima be honest idk why people thought there was gonna be gen 5 remakes this year gen 1 remakes happen in gen 3 gen 2 remakes in gen 4 gen 3 remakes in gen 6 gen 4 remakes in gen 8 so why would we get gen 5 remakes in gen 9?
I love your explanation about the supposed starters. I've always thought Piplup is perfect for Kalos and Greninja would be better in gen 1-4. I wouldn't be able to think about Snivy and Torchic but they would totally make sense. Something random: I don't know exactly why but I also think Rowlet is perfect for Galar. I'm glad it was in PLA though.
What do you think about Nintendo taking down fangames and trying to take down emulaton? Is it warranted or is the critique from fans that Nintendo is being a greedy company warranted?
U guys see Pokémon as a game or any other series that’s either good or bad but it’s not that it’s more than that It’s a culture and a lifestyle a living breathing world with a story and lore and characters We form parasocial relationships with these fictional animals because we love them so much and they have so much personality and backstory their dev time is 3-6 actually u just don’t feel it cuz they work on multiple projects simultaneously with the budget of a Disney channel movie around 15-20mil and they have to balance game release with the anime and the cards Everyone can say pokemon should be like Zelda or xenoblade but those games don’t have an anime and a tcg they have to abide by it’s like jenga And they may or may not share resources that part I’m unsure of Hot take: the point of Pokémon is to appeal to the widest audience possible and that there’s something for everyone from mainline to the anime to the spin offs Well maybe if people got into the other avenues of the franchise rather than solely the games u wouldn’t be disappointed Since the series was designed to be symbiotic with itself and to experience every avenue together for a complete experience U guys need to reevaluate ur priorities Visuals, frame rate, art style are irrelevant People are too focused on superficial nonsense let’s be real u didn’t get into the original games for the graphics And If u didn’t play games for the graphics as a kid then why would u play them for the graphics now Sorry u forgot what the point of Pokémon was to begin with Pokémon is always meant to be an entry level jrpg maybe the people trying to hate on pokemon maybe they just aren’t into jrpgs If The lore was good The writing was good The music was good The vibes were good The messages were good The character designs were good That’s all you really need The series knows what it is and its niche(by niche I mean space) and what it wants to be and there’s nothing wrong with that and it doesn’t have to be anything else The mainstream audience doesn’t care about graphics or bugs or anything they just like to vibe People are just trying to make it something that is isn’t And something that doesn’t fit its style Maybe u don’t like Pokemon just aren’t into RPGs and that’s fine dont have to use that as an excuse to be toxic If its not ur thing just move on imo They’re gonna do their own thing and be their own thing in their own way Pokémon is always meant to be an entry level jrpg maybe the people trying to hate on pokemon maybe they just aren’t into jrpgs If The lore was good The writing was good The music was good The vibes were good The messages were good The character designs were good That’s all you really need The series knows what it is and its niche(by niche I mean space) and what it wants to be and there’s nothing wrong with that and it doesn’t have to be anything else The mainstream audience doesn’t care about graphics or bugs or anything they just like to vibe People are just trying to make it something that is isn’t And something that doesn’t fit its style Maybe u don’t like Pokemon just aren’t into RPGs and that’s fine dont have to use that as an excuse to be toxic If its not ur thing just move on imo They’re gonna do their own thing and be their own thing in their own way Calling pokemon “lazy” is lazy they got more to do than most devs they make two games and have to be symbiotic with the rest of the series and all this other stuff They can’t delay the game they have a symbiotic release system The games are leashed to the anime, tcg, etc and the anime, tcg etc is leashed to the games Tpc is constantly playing a game of jenga trying to balance each of its branches The games are in development for 3-6 years we just don’t feel it because a lot of times they work on multiple generations at the same time they have two teams the games have a 15-20 million dollar budget They probably share resources Maybe about the sharing idk They have been working on Gen 10 for a few years now Visuals, frame rate, art style are irrelevant People are too focused on superficial nonsense If The lore was good The writing was good The music was good The vibes were good The messages were good The character designs were good That’s all you really need Can’t believe people still care about that frame stuff I’m sorry people got so lost and brainwashed by the superficialities of the industry you forgot what Pokémon was originally about And I know that the game isn’t perfect and that there’s issues Pokémon is a franchise where the theme is friendship is magic and meeting cute and cool unique monsters What the hell does graphics and performance have to do with those things? Nothing if you wanna criticize a franchise criticize it on whether or not it delivered on the messages and themes it promised Was friendship magic? Did you meet cute and cool unique creatures? Ok then it’s a good game Those are what’s important to Pokémon As the og theme said Pokémon is about Oh your my best friend in a world we must defend I will travel across the land searching far and wide each pokemon to understand the power that’s inside Our hearts so true our courage will pull us through you teach me and I teach you” That’s what it is about and that’s what it will always be about and if that’s what it continues to be about until the end Then that’s a strong enough ending for me Not sure what graphics and animation and performance has to do with that Performance graphics those things never Mattered You have to remember pokemon games have only been 3D since 2013 that’s pretty recent compared to other games like Zelda that have been 3D since the 90s and early 2000s so obviously they’re gonna be behind Mixed with the fact that They can’t delay the game because main console for only 5 years compared to Zelda since n64 The franchise was designed so that every aspect of it has a symbiotic relationship The games can’t release without the anime the merch and the manga and the manga the merch and the anime can’t release without the games And it’s about time you all understand that by now They are doing their best trying to balance the games with the tcg and the anime The Pokémon franchise is like a game of jenga If you move one thing it all falls apart They are doing the best they can sorry I’m the only one who appreciates that Unless you want them to hypothetically release the Gen 10 anime and then wait till the anime gets to Gen 15 to release the Gen 10 games they are still learning as they go so y’all gotta be patient and give them time to catch up Their partnership with take two they’ll apply what they learn back into Pokémon so that’s good You have to remember gamefreak are inexperienced with developing open world games so of course there will be some trial and error the more they work on and improve the game and do future games the better at it they’ll get Rome wasn’t built in a day we need to be patient Assuming we get more open world games NOT TO MENTION ScarVi’s development was probably screwed up by the pandemic Probably turned it upside down And before u say just delay the game They can’t delay the game The franchise was designed so that every aspect of it has a symbiotic relationship The games can’t release without the anime the merch and the manga and the manga the merch and the anime can’t release without the games And it’s about time you all understand that by now They are doing their best trying to balance the games with the tcg and the anime The Pokémon franchise is like a game of jenga If you move one thing it all falls apart They are doing the best they can sorry I’m the only one who appreciates that Unless you want them to hypothetically release the Gen 10 anime and then wait till the anime gets to Gen 15 to release the Gen 10 games it’s not outdated it’s rebellious and nonconformist They choose to live in their own bubble and be one of a kind and not imitate what everyone else does and they have my respect for that
This is one of the things we only think about after the fact, but I think they skipped gen 5 because it was the least profitable generation they had. And now people can't say pokemon doesn't listen to the customers because with legends ZA they are going to take an extra year to make the game and they are bringing back mega evolutions, which a very loud portion of the internet have been asking for since 2020.
At least BDSP didn't shiny lock everything. They only shiny locked mew and jirachi which I don't mind. As bad as BDSP were I actually had some fun with them and not just for the shiny hunting aspect. I liked the poke ball seals and the underground although the bases were just statue museums instead of actual bases. I do agree with a majority of people, BDSP were not good remakes however I didn't hate them. Maybe I'm not a diehard Sinnoh person... IDK. I wasn't as offended as I thought I would be but I understand everyone's hate towards BDSP.
I do agree with this message Fair Form Perfect But I Do think there semi Underrated But At Least Not Having Any of the Main Legendarys Shiny Locked is a Massive W in My Books
I don't really see either Torchic or Charmander being the part of the new starters since Charmander was already a starter in X/Y (you get two in the same game), and since we might potentially get brand new Megas instead of regional variants for the starters, I don't see them making a Mega Blaziken Y. But if we somehow get the Kalos starters as our partner Pokemon in Z-A I wouldn't really complain because DELPHOX AND CHESNAUGHT DESERVED THEIR MEGAS 😭😭😭
I don't think Charmander nor Torchic will be the fire starter in ZA, they already have Mega Evolutions (Charizard even has two!). I'm assuming the starters will have new Megas introduced instead of recycling old ones. I see your point about Mega Charizard Z though, that's also an option.
If we are throwing all logic out the window. If I were to erase the Pokemon name from the trailer, my first through would be an urban development sort of game. Imagine a SimCity/City Skylines, but for Pokemon. I don't think it's going to happen as is. But maybe the Yakuza-like experience might be closer to it
I have no faith they will pull off just being in luminos city. If we're going to kalos. Let's go to kalos. But megas are back. Not pre order worthy but definitely hype
I'm a big fan of Pokémon, but I agree with you. Pokémon tends to sell me on promise but very rarely _great_ execution. I'm fine with the game being set only in Lumiose City, but I just need to know there's enough interesting there for me to buy it, let alone pre-order it.
I personally think(hope) the legends games are going to be Pokemon's spin-off series aim at older fans all good game series aimed at kids need one like mario has the Luigi mansion/paper Mario series
@@squibbled Probably not getting the gen 6 nat dex back with this game. Most likely the 72 original introduced in Kalos + 140 -230 to follow up with how Legends Arceus handled its dex.
Hot take all the remakes they have made In all the years and they only “mess up” one it’s still a good track record there’s no reason to assume it’ll be the case again the butchering was clearly a fluke it was impacted by the pandemic it was just poor timing not a prediction for the future The studio that did bdsp have improved since then Also every remake is different so it would be a different style Bdsp is misunderstood it may not have had platinum content but it did add it’s own new stuff like expanded underground, updated qol, modern type chart, modern movepool, ramanas park etc and it’s got wholesome vibes Also Ilca is more experienced now It was loved by the mainstream casual audience The more hardcore fans may not have liked it but they weren’t the target audience The game was designed to be an approachable game for beginner players so they had to make it look as cute and as welcoming as possible hence the chibi appearance
I'm still hoping/thinking that they skipped the Gen 5 remakes in favor of more development time. I really don't want them to release another barebones outsourced game like they did with BDSP.
It does exist, funnily enough. I actually did see Rika merchandise when I visited the Pokémon Center in Osaka some months ago. They were selling plastic stands, print handkerchiefs, and also her gloves. And yes, tiny plushes of her attached to keychains Hilariously, that section attracted a lot of girls
8:18 they didn’t break the game they were something where for a second u go that was weird and u progress as before Wasn’t the end of the world And who cares about tree textures go outside for that
I think 10th gen shouldn't be released until Switch 2, and should be the last main line games, ever. At this point, we be better off with the RTS model of Base game and expansions.
5:22 This is an inside joke for MandJTV, a popular poketuber, originating from this video. ua-cam.com/video/WeLrOm5-XDE/v-deo.htmlsi=JwmLmnAKRiPTVIZh I recommend you watch the whole series because it’s goddamn hilarious, but it’s fine if you don’t trust the link. Also, on the topic of Instant-Kill mechanics, if you play Honkai Star Rail(you might, it’s really popular here in sg and also you had a trailblazer reference), the upcoming character(Acheron) has been leaked to have an Instant-Kill mechanic. You should make the video when the details are fully revealed.
I glad you acknowleged Pokemon Production and truth be told I always thought PLA was a testing ground for gen 9.
These are fun little intermissions. I would enjoy seeing more of them.
Here's how being only in lumiose could work out:
-larger representative scale.
Wait do they mean litterally just in the city or do they mean there is only one city like in arceus?
@@brotbrotsen1100 from the way its worded, literally just in the city, but that's not a big deal because this should be 1800's paris which is isn't at all like modern paris/lumiose. It was more like a bunch of villages next to each other and a crap ton of forests, caverns/catacombs, and rivers criss crossing throughout.
What it looks like now is the post-redevelopment project which was completed in the 1870s, with the eiffel tower/prism tower being completed in 1889 (same time period legends arceus takes place in).
Golden Owl has a viewpoint of Pokémon Legends, lets go
The Indigo Disc was our Gen 5 "Remake". It was actually a Sequel.
I love this more chill "Tea Time Chat". I'm very stoked to see more from PL: ZA
5:48 Silvally's ability RKS System is also something to consider with the pronunciation of Arceus
13:15 There are three things that are certain now. Death, taxes and Charizard being shoehorned into all Pokémon games.
14:50 I do wonder how many models they made for specific X and Y though.
Because Gates to Infinity and Pokedex 3D Pro came out before this (and Dream Radar, but that only had 3 models in it so...shush)
So I wonder how many models were taken from those games and put into X and Y.
Pretty cool to have a chill perspective of new stuff from your pov.
I wouldn't be surprised if the starters didn't evolve into regional forms but into whole new pokemon a la runerigus and purrserker
Imagine a Dragon type regional variant of Serperior.
Contrary Draco Meteor AND leaf storms
I really hope this video doesn’t get a copyright strike because of that long-ish Spaceballs clip 😰
Oh, I need to restock my supply of hojicha, thanks for the reminder
Yooo you're looking real good there at 0:23 dear Mister Internet Owl Person ;)
I like to think that those early leaks of the unova remakes were just GF’s way of testing how the fans would react prior to releasing it, after seeing quite a bit of backlash on it they might’ve decided to cancel it this year and take more time to overhaul it and give it a proper remake treatment akin to hgss and oras
I know that’s unlikely but it would explain why there’s no game announced for this year
Really love the teatime talk!
I really like this [Teatime Talk] style, its really chill and relaxing to listen while also getting insight from you and other players!!
i honestly really like this type of more discussion-ey videos
Xy had alot of lore and story it got fleshed out in the anime too
The Entire Gen 6 dex needs a facelift. Fennekin and Chespin need love.
I’m very excited with the fact that Mega Evolution is returning considering it’s my favourite Pokémon game mechanic, Love your Videos Btw!
They give us a presents every summer so there will be something for sure
(the minus sign does have a vague amount of Xerneas and Yveltal-ooloured blue and red on the inner outlines)
Thought it was kind of unusual how they danced around Zygarde (and to a lesser extent Ash-Greninja and the idea of a Pokemon Z) when its complete/core/10% forms were initially revealed on the pokemon website. at that point, all we had was the Red Core appearing at the end of Hoopa's movie in japan (which debuted its unbound form), but then we got SM. long after establishing that there are 2 different-colored cores in the anime canon. the game-canon mentions there being 5 Cores (somehow not in Kalos) all red, in Alola. not helped that the Blue Core Zygarde was not revealed until a few months after Magearna's movie. yet Squishie (the red core zygarde) was able to shift to its 100% form on its own. though that could be explained by a movie taking a lot more work to produce, whereas the anime probably has a week or two buffer before rolling out.
Also, the idea that the 5 cores controls the Wings and tail was only mentioned on the official site, implying a late addition. curious if the Blue Core zygarde is going to come in with its unused texture IDs.
I hope they name the legends z-a protagonists Xavier and Yvonne as those were Calem and Serena’s beta names
I'm wondering if they might avoid Torchic and Charmander as starters since their standard versions have Mega Evolutions. I feel Scorbunny or Litten are much more likely as fire starters, more likely the former imo.
0:25 Aye that's me 😎
Mom,i on TV!
If we're ever to get gen 5 remakes, it likely won't be until after the next generation on a new console
Also, I don't think BDSP were bad games. They added cool things like more competitive teams for the gym leaders and the ability to catch pokemon from the Platinum dex underground, but for whatever reason it didn't *feel* like they added that much to the originals
And I think that's a combination of not looking very different from the originals and not being able to use newer mons
I actually like the chibi art style, but it means they missed out on the opportunity to reimagine people and locations in more/different detail. And I think that's literally because they weren't reimagining it; since ILCA didn't make the originals, the were imagining the games for the first time. I feel like if they took more risks, maybe consulted with employees at GF that worked on DPP about what they could change, the games would be more interesting
As for using newer Pokemon, I don't mind using having to just use mons from the originals for the main story, but in the past I feel like when a remake has come out, everyone switches over to those being the main games to play, and they transfer all their other mons to those games. Not to mention, remakes have always given new tools and moves to mons of the generations that came out before it, and I feel like the lack of that reward discouraged people from playing through it
What I'm trying to get at here (TLDR) is that I feel like ILCA have the capability to make good gen 5 remakes, they just have to stop sticking so strictly to the originals, because ironically, that makes remakes worse
Hojicha is so good dude.
I think fire starter will be chimchar just so they have 1 human shape. But i really enjoy your material. Thanks!
WHAT IF WE GET THE ANSWER TO THE LUMIOSE CITY GHOST GIRL MYSTERY?!?!?!
three things from me
one, i actually expected them to announce some sort of heartgold/soulsilver remake in the engine of bdsp for some reason, i'm not saying that's a good thing, that's just what i was assuming would happen
secondly, i personally think they won't do regional variants in legends z-a, but instead will go all-in on new megas? just some speculation i suppose
lastly, i'd be completely fine if they just drop remakes entirely as long as they can rerelease the older titles. i don't understand what's holding them back from making some sort of app on switch to do it even if they don't use the switch online app, the titles are fully compatible with switch online's emulators and online systems, so i don't really get why they don't just take the free money from rereleasing the first 3 generations
I'm calling it now, in one of the next 2 Pokemon generations, we're getting a "bed" Pokemon. Would most likely be a fairy psychic type 😌
Why isn't the Owl Golden?
Pokémon has always been innovating and changing things up so I wouldn’t say predictable
Predictability isn’t the samething as tradition
They have always experimented with new concepts and mechanics
Like breeding, natures, abilities, following pokemon, overworld encounters, physical special split, mega evolution,Zmoves, gigantamax/dynamax amie/refresh/camping, even motion controls from let’s go do these features not count as evolving/progressing are these things not ambitious?
The restructuring of the traditional Pokémon format by having the third legendary as the main focus not to mention being the first Pokémon games ever to do DLC and the regional evolutions
Also the various QoL stuff even having dynamax and gigantamax and you would not have SV without the wild area all of these new ideas and things for the franchise
Are these not ambitious
I mean all these things have changed the franchise in substantial ways
Every generation offers something ambitious is replacing gyms with trials not ambitious? Or making the galar league a tournament like the anime instead of a traditional elite four is that not ambitious
Sure none of them have ever been this super drastic
But to say it’s “not innovating” is a bit disingenuous
Has the steps in previous games been a bit smaller I mean sure
But baby steps and even medium steps is still progression
Why do we count this and not those
Shouldn’t it all count?
Some of these things maybe temporary but they are still creative and ambitious and drastically change the course of the franchise so they count
They like to get to things at their own pace when they feel ready that’s why sv ended up how it did because the fanbase pushed them to make the franchise open world before they were ready they said numerous times pokemon and open world don’t mix and we didn’t listen
I’m just sayin if they end up dropping open world for Gen 10
Because people didn’t like Gen 9 then don’t blame them
They tried it it didn’t work and now they move on
I'm very excited for this game and I agree with your starters choice, I agree that Kalos needed a legends game with how underwhelming lots of people felt about it. I do think new Megas could be introduce and I definitely think the Kalos starters and many others will get new Mega evolutions.
I'm going to say this: If anything, unova, actually does get made, i will be surprised. I will greatly feel free to ask why I'll happily explain
ima be honest idk why people thought there was gonna be gen 5 remakes this year
gen 1 remakes happen in gen 3
gen 2 remakes in gen 4
gen 3 remakes in gen 6
gen 4 remakes in gen 8
so why would we get gen 5 remakes in gen 9?
I love your explanation about the supposed starters. I've always thought Piplup is perfect for Kalos and Greninja would be better in gen 1-4. I wouldn't be able to think about Snivy and Torchic but they would totally make sense.
Something random: I don't know exactly why but I also think Rowlet is perfect for Galar. I'm glad it was in PLA though.
I'm not interested in playing it, but I am excited to see what they'll do with it.
What do you think about Nintendo taking down fangames and trying to take down emulaton? Is it warranted or is the critique from fans that Nintendo is being a greedy company warranted?
U guys see Pokémon as a game or any other series that’s either good or bad but it’s not that it’s more than that
It’s a culture and a lifestyle a living breathing world with a story and lore and characters
We form parasocial relationships with these fictional animals because we love them so much and they have so much personality and backstory
their dev time is 3-6 actually u just don’t feel it cuz they work on multiple projects simultaneously with the budget of a Disney channel movie around 15-20mil and they have to balance game release with the anime and the cards
Everyone can say pokemon should be like Zelda or xenoblade but those games don’t have an anime and a tcg they have to abide by it’s like jenga
And they may or may not share resources that part I’m unsure of
Hot take:
the point of Pokémon is to appeal to the widest audience possible and that there’s something for everyone from mainline to the anime to the spin offs
Well maybe if people got into the other avenues of the franchise rather than solely the games u wouldn’t be disappointed
Since the series was designed to be symbiotic with itself and to experience every avenue together for a complete experience
U guys need to reevaluate ur priorities Visuals, frame rate, art style are irrelevant
People are too focused on superficial nonsense
let’s be real u didn’t get into the original games for the graphics
And If u didn’t play games for the graphics as a kid then why would u play them for the graphics now
Sorry u forgot what the point of Pokémon was to begin with
Pokémon is always meant to be an entry level jrpg maybe the people trying to hate on pokemon maybe they just aren’t into jrpgs
If
The lore was good
The writing was good
The music was good
The vibes were good
The messages were good
The character designs were good
That’s all you really need
The series knows what it is and its niche(by niche I mean space) and what it wants to be and there’s nothing wrong with that and it doesn’t have to be anything else
The mainstream audience doesn’t care about graphics or bugs or anything they just like to vibe
People are just trying to make it something that is isn’t
And something that doesn’t fit its style
Maybe u don’t like Pokemon just aren’t into RPGs and that’s fine dont have to use that as an excuse to be toxic
If its not ur thing just move on imo
They’re gonna do their own thing and be their own thing in their own way
Pokémon is always meant to be an entry level jrpg maybe the people trying to hate on pokemon maybe they just aren’t into jrpgs

Calling pokemon “lazy” is lazy they got more to do than most devs they make two games and have to be symbiotic with the rest of the series and all this other stuff
They can’t delay the game they have a symbiotic release system
The games are leashed to the anime, tcg, etc and the anime, tcg etc is leashed to the games
Tpc is constantly playing a game of jenga trying to balance each of its branches
The games are in development for 3-6 years we just don’t feel it because a lot of times they work on multiple generations at the same time they have two teams the games have a 15-20 million dollar budget
They probably share resources
Maybe about the sharing idk
They have been working on Gen 10 for a few years now
Visuals,frame rate,art style are irrelevant
People are too focused on superficial nonsense
If
The lore was good
The writing was good
The music was good
The vibes were good
The messages were good
The character designs were good
That’s all you really need
Can’t believe people still care about that frame stuff
I’m sorry people got so lost and brainwashed by the superficialities of the industry you forgot what Pokémon was originally about
And I know that the game isn’t perfect and that there’s issues
Pokémon is a franchise where the theme is friendship is magic and meeting cute and cool unique monsters
What the hell does graphics and performance have to do with those things?
Nothing if you wanna criticize a franchise criticize it on whether or not it delivered on the messages and themes it promised
Was friendship magic?
Did you meet cute and cool unique creatures?
Ok then it’s a good game
Those are what’s important to Pokémon
As the og theme said
Pokémon is about
Oh your my best friend in a world we must defend
I will travel across the land searching far and wide each pokemon to understand the power that’s inside
Our hearts so true our courage will pull us through
you teach me and I teach you”
That’s what it is about and that’s what it will always be about and if that’s what it continues to be about until the end
Then that’s a strong enough ending for me
Not sure what graphics and animation and performance has to do with that
Performance graphics those things never Mattered
You have to remember pokemon games have only been 3D since 2013 that’s pretty recent compared to other games like Zelda that have been 3D since the 90s and early 2000s so obviously they’re gonna be behind Mixed with the fact that They can’t delay the game because main console for only 5 years compared to Zelda since n64
The franchise was designed so that every aspect of it has a symbiotic relationship
The games can’t release without the anime the merch and the manga and the manga the merch and the anime can’t release without the games
And it’s about time you all understand that by now
They are doing their best trying to balance the games with the tcg and the anime
The Pokémon franchise is like a game of jenga
If you move one thing it all falls apart
They are doing the best they can sorry I’m the only one who appreciates that
Unless you want them to hypothetically release the Gen 10 anime and then wait till the anime gets to Gen 15 to release the Gen 10 games
they are still learning as they go so y’all gotta be patient and give them time to catch up
Their partnership with take two they’ll apply what they learn back into Pokémon so that’s good
You have to remember gamefreak are inexperienced with developing open world games so of course there will be some trial and error the more they work on and improve the game and do future games the better at it they’ll get
Rome wasn’t built in a day we need to be patient
Assuming we get more open world games
NOT TO MENTION ScarVi’s development was probably screwed up by the pandemic
Probably turned it upside down
And before u say just delay the game
They can’t delay the game
The franchise was designed so that every aspect of it has a symbiotic relationship
The games can’t release without the anime the merch and the manga and the manga the merch and the anime can’t release without the games

Unless you want them to hypothetically release the Gen 10 anime and then wait till the anime gets to Gen 15 to release the Gen 10 games
it’s not outdated it’s rebellious and nonconformist
They choose to live in their own bubble and be one of a kind and not imitate what everyone else does and they have my respect for that
This is one of the things we only think about after the fact, but I think they skipped gen 5 because it was the least profitable generation they had.
Imagine if the reason they "skipped" Gen 5 was because they're making Black and White 3 for the Switch 2
Me: (Still Traumatized from Cynthia and Volo) “Now, what’s the best way to reach level 100 fast?”
I don't really see either Torchic or Charmander being the part of the new starters since Charmander was already a starter in X/Y (you get two in the same game), and since we might potentially get brand new Megas instead of regional variants for the starters, I don't see them making a Mega Blaziken Y. But if we somehow get the Kalos starters as our partner Pokemon in Z-A I wouldn't really complain because DELPHOX AND CHESNAUGHT DESERVED THEIR MEGAS 😭😭😭
a return to kalos was plenty easy to predict given it presumably has a border with paldea, a kalos LEGENDS game was NOT.
I don't think Charmander nor Torchic will be the fire starter in ZA, they already have Mega Evolutions (Charizard even has two!). I'm assuming the starters will have new Megas introduced instead of recycling old ones. I see your point about Mega Charizard Z though, that's also an option.
I’m fine with watching less technical videos talking about Pokémon news.
If Z-A does ends up being Yakuza-like, all I can think of is Serena bludgeoning someone with a bike.
That one dancing rival having a baby/diaper fetish and his corpfish feeding him with a bottle
Tbh, I hope they give us national dex with the style of pokemon sv models.
Just a quick note: if they do do this, hopefully they don't spend the whole time doing the models.
@@squibbled Probably not getting the gen 6 nat dex back with this game. Most likely the 72 original introduced in Kalos + 140 -230 to follow up with how Legends Arceus handled its dex.
Hot take
all the remakes they have made In all the years and they only “mess up” one it’s still a good track record there’s no reason to assume it’ll be the case again the butchering was clearly a fluke it was impacted by the pandemic it was just poor timing not a prediction for the future
The studio that did bdsp have improved since then
Also every remake is different so it would be a different style
Bdsp is misunderstood it may not have had platinum content but it did add it’s own new stuff like expanded underground, updated qol, modern type chart, modern movepool, ramanas park etc and it’s got wholesome vibes
Also Ilca is more experienced now
It was loved by the mainstream casual audience
The more hardcore fans may not have liked it but they weren’t the target audience
The game was designed to be an approachable game for beginner players so they had to make it look as cute and as welcoming as possible hence the chibi appearance
I think the 'whole game takes place in luminose city' might be taken too literally
I'm still hoping/thinking that they skipped the Gen 5 remakes in favor of more development time. I really don't want them to release another barebones outsourced game like they did with BDSP.
4:41 Where's my Rika plush, you cowards.
It does exist, funnily enough.
I actually did see Rika merchandise when I visited the Pokémon Center in Osaka some months ago. They were selling plastic stands, print handkerchiefs, and also her gloves. And yes, tiny plushes of her attached to keychains
Hilariously, that section attracted a lot of girls
You missed using a Pokemon ZA Warudo joke. Do you even JoJo?
The hindsight is real.
I’ll have to remember to make that joke in future
8:18 they didn’t break the game they were something where for a second u go that was weird and u progress as before
Wasn’t the end of the world
And who cares about tree textures go outside for that
I think 10th gen shouldn't be released until Switch 2, and should be the last main line games, ever. At this point, we be better off with the RTS model of Base game and expansions.
Have you considered Ar-soy-ss? eu is pronounced oy in German.
5:22 This is an inside joke for MandJTV, a popular poketuber, originating from this video. ua-cam.com/video/WeLrOm5-XDE/v-deo.htmlsi=JwmLmnAKRiPTVIZh
I recommend you watch the whole series because it’s goddamn hilarious, but it’s fine if you don’t trust the link.
I like charizard but I rlly hope he doesn't get another mega
bdsp make me sad of what could have been the platinum outfit is a insult to gen 4 i don't trust gamefreak or ilca
it's pronounced ar-chay-us/is/es
