Hearing a Salamander hold back his weeping is genuinely heartbreaking
he does not hold tears he is restraining his anger to prevent it from consuming him so that it may be focused into executing the emperors wrath.
That’s something I think people forget about the Salamanders. They have a LOT of rage buried deep within them. Strong enough that Vulkan tapped into it to defeat The Beast.
Even Ferrus upon seeing Vulkan in rage mode for the first time said, “And I thought the Wolf King knew fury”

See this shit is why the Black Templars can be callus… they have to be. Yet that rage and fervor is not blind. It is vengeance for those of the imperium who have been butchered by traitors or xenos… it’s kind of interesting how even the imperial fists when they needed to rebuild the chapter and got a company from the black Templars found that the initiates that served in that company and went to others were more disciplined.
By the Emperor, this is exactly why I love the Salamanders! They are all heroes, the real heroes! Tragic heroes, who wants nothing more than to protect the innocent from this cruel and unforgiving galaxy we live in. But sometimes, they can't be everywhere at once. Especially where they are needed the most.

The wolves protect people but they don't understand them. They don't interact with them. They brag, laugh and maybe throw a feast but too relate to the average human is difficult for them. Salamanders interact with average humans like they do with each other. Like saying hello to your friend on the street.

A chapter that actively trying to get drunk while having livers that prevent them from doing so is in my opinion the most human.
The space wolves literally fight against the grey knights to protect innocent people. They are the ONLY CHAPTER TO DO SO.

There hearts are like a open flame, gentle and warm to those they protect. But upon the enemy who try to use this thinking it’s a weakness to exploit… only making the mistake of unleashing a dragons wrath upon themselves.

I dont know if the creator of the comic meant to do this, but i like the detail at 2:24 that makes it look like the salamanders logo is shedding a tear because of the crack in the armor

I think it is very much intentional. Meant to symbolise the salamander's grief, as we are unable to see his face.

Of all the chapters that deserved to keep the status/numbers of a legion, the Salamanders is one of them.
They had like five people left
Their Legion was practically at Chapter size already anyway
I mean if they can stop themselves from sacrificing 10 space marine per one human to be saved. The salamanders wouldn't get depleted easily.

That one hit straight into my heart, since it's about one of my favourite Space Marine chapters, and it captures the idea of the Salamanders amazingly well.
I do hope that we get a continuation of this comic where the Deathguard is barricading his home in a panicked frenzy, and a Nurgling is pointing towards another door and goes "Look, we have a friend of yours to help us."
And then we see the Salamander hefting a flamer - A Heavy Flamer - in the doorway.

@@marcovizzari2126 Khorne's color is red. Khorne, albeit a brutal being, absolutely fucking HATES suffering. He wants blood to flow, he wants skulls for his throne, he wants excessive violence, but doesn't want people to suffer. Just kill the person and be done with it. Still bad, but not a bad way to go, right?
Nurgle, as much as I love him, is so, so, so much worse... You get every single plague put on you and you hope you die, but you don't. You suffer, and suffer, and suffer with all these diseases and these pains, and Nurgle won't let you die.
So in essence, let the red ones in and die quicker if there is no alternative. If the green ones come, kill the children. They don't deserve that suffering, and then die fighting as the Emperor wishes.
Chaos fans: We are the Good guys!

But they were their full Chapter (eight half-full companies) against half the Death Guards legion, Mortarion, a few million Plague Bearers, seven Great Unclean Ones, and somehow a WAAAAGH got into the fight. Sadly, they also were fighting on a Tomb World that was awakened, and a Hive Fleet splinter arrived onto the planet too.
Undeniably the kindest, how loyal they'd remain if they knew the truth about the Emperor or the Empire I am not as certain
Not that there is any Chaos god of kindness and teddy bears that wasn't ripped to pieces long ago they could turn to
They really are one of the few true good guys in the Grimdark
We need a 40k game to explore stuff like this more often really let the player understand the hate they have for chaos.
A Black Templars game would be *perfect* for that
I want a continuation of this comic where we see this salamander go on a crusade to kill the chaos marine faction that invaded the town. And he has also gotten pretty high up in the ranks because of all the work he has done trying to make up for not being there on time.

2:14-I've got to say, I love the detail of the Salamander, this demigod of war, audibly choking back sobs of sorrow and howls of grief as he holds the broken, bloody toy of the little girl he promised to keep safe in his hand. It is said that the Astartes who Know No Fear do fear one thing; failure. And this is why, at least for Chapters like the Salamanders, who have not cast aside their humanity and treasure human life above all. Because failure means the children, who bring so much joy and comfort to their hearts with the sight of their smiles and the sounds of their laughter, will die horrible, painful deaths at the hands of those the Astartes were not strong or fast or smart enough to stop.

Reading them alone already made me cry, I don't know, how I'm supposed to handle them now...
I want an alternate part 3 where he wears it into battle and every time he does, he doesn't die, and one battle a Ork or Chaos Marine steals it and he flies into a blind rage murdering all in his path, carrying the little battle brother in his hand with a bolter in the other, and one day, he is dying and the battle brother doll is ripped to shreds, and he has the option to become a dreadnought, and he accepts, on one term, he has a Memorial for the little girl on his armor plate that shows her holding the doll with he text "May I protect others, when I couldn't protect you."

Being the good guys suck in the 41st. Because you know you can't save them all but you'll still try anyway even when it's completely futile. Sometimes I wonder if some chapters have become cold and heartless for this reason, hating the emotion so much that they just block it out entirely to spare themselves of the pain it brings.
They would most likely die by the orders of the Inquisition anyway. Months of Shame happened cause Space Furries didn't want Inquisition to slaughter civilians and guard.

My heart sank when i saw the chaos space marine... Then i cried when i saw the aftermath.
In the Imperium, there are many traumas to suffer, and many ways to cope with them.
The most common is prayer. The endless masses of hive cities flock to preachers, cardinals, those who extol the virtues of the God-Emperor of Mankind. He, in His endless wisdom, brought misfortune upon you so that you might emerge worthy of His grace and light, they claim.
The Guard have the occasional therapist, who often doubles as a chaplain. Letters from home detailing terrible news, invisible scars born of the battlefield, all of that is their domain. They try to help, though success is difficult to gauge.
There is a third option. The sight of an Astartes on the battlefield is usually enough to reassure even the most shaken soldier. Superhuman demigods dropping into Death itself and emerging unscathed does wonders for erasing doubt, and to speak to one? Why, you're speaking with the Emperor's Holy Wrath itself! It is said they are beyond fear, beyond doubt, beyond even the mortal need to live. Their minds are like fortresses, indestructible, immune. It is said there are no therapists among the Astartes. Why would there be? A waste of valuable gene-seed, that would be; reassurance for those who need it least! No, the Astartes stand alone, without these feeble mortal needs--the pillars upon which the defense of the Imperium rests!
Yet...
If the Astartes are the supports that hold up the Guard...
...then what supports them?
All I can say is:
There is a reason that the Astartes are taught to abandon all connections with their families. Not because without those supports, they are strong.

It is because the supports will make them weak.
And while the collapse of an Astartes brings with it the fury of an avalanche, it is a collapse. Destructive. Total.

Why only look at the salamanders or the ultramarines, you can look at the blood angels
Even the primarchs are not imune, guilliman, sangunius, ferrus Manus, perturabo, Magnus, angron, lorgar

Even the emperor, the called god of mankind was not immune to the pain of loss, loosing his sons to chaos, his most trusted guard to the task of holding on to one of the greatest threats to the imperium, his closest, most intimate friend, malcador
Mankind is flawed, nothing, and i mean NOTHING, can change that, but there is light, there is calm at the end of the storm, no matter If its long until it happens, or If it doesn't last much, but the good, the truly good of this universe, will prevail, it Will be long until it happens yes.
But at the end of the grimm darkness of the future, there will be no more war

There’s an extra panel to this comic where a Nurgle Space Marine pops out and makes fun of him about the death of his friend. But it’s more of a humorous bonus panel and the comic works better without it.
That nurgle space marine better watch his attitude cuz that salamander will defenitely fuck him up with his bare hands

Most people think the Astartes are superhuman warriors who only care about battle and war....they forget that they are humans too. Well atleast the salamanders and most loyalists.
Not most loyalists no, most loyalists are cold and borderline heartless. Salamanders, space wolves and lamenters are exceptions

Some chapters may call the salamanders weak because they show kindness and care for humans but they are strongest because they care

Just remember that this Salamnder Legion Father, Primarch Vulkan was captured, imprisoned and tortured while butt naked by the Night Lords Primarch Konrad Curze, and yet Konrad needs to run to the Warp for Safety because he got Decimated so bad by Vulkan while Butt Naked.
He got shit as duck he so cocky he forgot Vulkan wielding a hammer and a teleportation too he got beat the shit out of him

Although its just a comic that I read and saw videos a dozen time still it hits in the feelings😭
I thought the the space marine at the start was the salamander later in the story..But I saw they had different armour..

They saying followers of Nurgle wont feel pain. Well trust me if i say, when this one Salamander met that Death Guard rotten piece of traitor who done this. That monster will feel pain even through any of his blessings, he will feel wrath of this son of nocturne
To me, this Salamander is a Primarus, and with that, his conflict is more clear. The other Salamanders do have the same compassion shown by this battle brother, but in the later comic, we see the Salamanders burning the bodies as the MC is reeling from the pain.
The detail of the blood on the pauldron's symbol, I like how it pictures a crying dragon, the crying salamander
The third part of the comics out and it's somehow even sadder
This hurt so much. I really wish you didn't dub this. This breaks my heart and fills the void with rage. Rage against the blighted one, Nurgle.
From now on, whenever I play a Warhammer game, I will slaughter all forces of Nurgle to avenge the mother and daughter. And Darktide will be a perfect hunting ground for my rage.
Khorne will be most pleased, until I tell him to back off and leave me alone. I serve both the Emperor and Sigmar, the Imperium and the Empire, 40k and Fantasy, Darktide and Total War Warhammer 3. It matters not where I fight, just where Nurgle sets my soon to be victims.
Nurgle will rue the day he took the innocence of such a sweet girl away. And may the Salamander find vengeance and scortch the diseased filth who enacted this crime.
Vengeance may not be the most honorable motivation, but I'll be damned if it isn't a powerful one.
Play darktide brother it just went into beta I think? I think it's public? There you can slaughter as many slaves of nurgle as your heart content.
In Vermintide you also kill Nurgle worshippers but is not tye same thing since is another universe.

The humanity this one comic shows the Salamanders to have, is what GW seems to have forgotten in .. well always. This comic is truly amazing
This is one of the biggest tragedies of the Space Marines. They are the best, but there are so few of them and their enemies are many - they can't save everyone.
I wish my cousin in Geneseed a kind day, he needs to see a soft morning and a quiet night, all of the Salamanders need it.

What makes this worse is the fact that the salamanders are one of the few space marine chapters that actually give a damn about the people, so you know he’s feeling that and not just shrugging off the death of yet another person, let alone a mortal, in the 41st millennium

You know that salamander just spirited out of drop pod when he got planetside. Taking just a knife because a bolter or a flammer will just slow him down.
You know he was probably ignoring or turned off comms because he wasn't going to follow orders, he was going to keep the vow he made.
You know he probably felt dread when he saw the door to her home was busted in. Perhaps he still held hope as that could have been done just seconds before.
And we know all saddness and guilt crept into his many hearts as he held the doll tightly in his hand. For he couldn't keep the promise he made.
Just imagine how many such stories we can get on TV or film if GW decides to actually utilize it's IP in a meaningful way or let others use it.
Well the good news is Henry Cavill secured the rights to adapt it, maybe we will see something meaningful cone from it.

@@imperialservitor6612 I am a little concerned after learning it was Amazon, but as I understand it Cavill himself is the rights holder not Amazon. I'm cautiously hopeful he will keep them in line with the lore.

Salamanders are known as pretty much THE nicest loyalist Space Marine chapther when it comes to random humans and human children.
Maybe the are sharing their first place with the Lamenters.
But the Lamenters lose 90% of their squad every time they are nice, which is always, so Salamanders are probably the most well known for caring A LOT about random-hive-job-wokers and humans in general.
But there is also he opposite. Some even loyalist chaters question why they protect humans at all/as their first priority, if they are ya know better than normal humans in every way.
@@AGenericFool I'm reading the crimson Fist Omnibus, ans dude, some of them hate humans, as if they weren't human once, but their chapter Master, Pedro kantor, is by far one of the most interesting Space Marines, he is kind to human, understanding that what make the imperium is its people, without them, the existence of space marines, their story, glory and legacy is meaningless if no one remembers it, is quite nice to see space marine having empathy for human, remembering that they were once like us, quite refreshing, I might read some Salamanders stuff
