tinting your primer is a great help but you definitely want to do it a contrasting color. it's awesome over white drywall too. (because its super easy to lose white paint over white primer over white drywall mud). I like to use a really light pink. it's easy enough to cover (even with white) but it really stands out where you got primer (so you have good coverage) and where you now have paint. It's esp great on ceilings because we'll all looked up at a ceiling long after it's painted and realized that there is a whole area that is just primer. When ti's pink that doesn't happen. Any paint shop will tint your primer no problem.
@stud pack 16:49 Hey Mr Paul, wondering if ever tried Laticrete’s HYDRO BAN Quick Cure liquid applied waterproofing membrane? Paints on like regular Hydro Ban liquid membrane, but able to flood test or tile (suppose should be and tile😉) w/in 30-120 mins depending on few variables. Looks like a good waterproofed bathroom. I always seal the exposed thinset used to lay the floor membrane and 6" strip membrane. I figure if water never gets to the overlap chances are it will last longer.
Tint primer a touch darker . As finish coat dries and darkens you can be sure it will still look completely covered if it did when wet . (if prime is lighter streaks may appear when finish coat is dried)

Would you recommend that dust free sanding system from Amazon to use on popcorn ceilings? Or keep with the old fashion "damp and scrape" for the popcorn?
I would recommend keeping popcorn ceiling wet/damp when removing it. Some early applications were known to have asbestos. Dry sanding/scraping would not only make a huge mess with all the chunks flying off (that the vacuum couldn't pull through the mesh), but could get any asbestos airborne. Err on the side of caution.
Another great video! Paul I can’t tell you how impressed I am with your work! I wish you were in Indiana! I could use some help with a basement remodel! Jordan these are always quality content! Keep up the fantastic work guys!
I know time isn't on your side, but i'd apply a few more thin coats of the membrane just to get it a few mils thick and have peace of mind. At least enough coats until the bucket is done. By the time you're done with your next coat, you could be starting another one right after that. The coats dry quick when they're applied thin, and they build up and bond on top of each other creating a very strong seamless membrane.
I didn't say just one coat, I specified to read the packaging. Different brands have different specs, but for liquid membranes, most require 2 coats but will fail with 3, or if the mils are too thick.
Nice job. Love that membrane. Although thinset is not water proof. You can find several tests online where the thinset fails with these membrane products.
I've seen some of those tests and they're just not realistic. 7 days submerged isn't a good test as it will never get anywhere near that in the real world!
True but on a mud pan with a a couple people showering every day it’s not a “best practice”. Probably would be fine with a KBRS custom pan or Tape it with a poly adhesive Then again neither a mud pan or cement board is a best practice any more.

Great video guys. I’m working on a first floor remodel in my house. Half the house has been painted with a brush and roller and the other half has still yet to be done. question about the beadboard ceiling. you said you tacked up furring strips or something perpendicular to the joists so you had more support to nail into... did you also run strips on top of the joists so they were then level with the furring strips or was it a thin enough difference not to matter? i'd like to do something similar to my ceiling... anyway, glad you got to get a lot done finishing up things before you head to TX. can't wait to see everything :)
Love your videos. I would like to suggest you look into a dust deputy. It is a cyclone dust separator for your vacuum. They work great and next to nothing gets to the filter in the vac. Saves time and money. Home Depot makes one that works ok,just goes on a 5 gallon bucket. Well worth it

Stud Panck Nation. Excellent presentation as usual. One thing I would suggest is that you should think about wearing safety glasses always (where applicable) especially drilling overhead. I had a friend doing similar and had a wood shard get around his glasses (correction lenses) and he needed delicate eye surgery and has lost some vision permanently Take care.
I scored an exterior house painting gig and bought my first airless sprayer. I had figured that one side of the house was going to take me at least 30 minutes to an hour, and I knocked it out in about 10. I'll never go back to hand painting again!
@ 10:00 You guys are the pros, so I'll take your word on the stubborn wallpaper - but in case you didn't know I learned a trick from my wife of all people. We had some really stuck on wallpaper when we moved in, and if you use hot water and vinegar 50/50 mix you can spray it on let it sit for a minute and the vinegar eats away the glue. We were able to just scrape the wall paper off easily at that point.
To keep stuff from splattering on the floor, you can go to somewhere like Samsclub and they have these really thin sheets of cardboad that they put on top of pallets under products like paper towels. If you happen to get there when the cardboard is still there, grab some. I had an employee practically beg me to take some because they just throw it away. You can then lay that stuff on the floors to protect them and it doesn't cost you anything. I used a sheet to protect my floor when preparing to install my toilet. Can Triton membrane be used behind direct-to-stud shower walls? "It wasn't fma it was fml" LOL. I love that you repurposed things in that kitchen for the skylight. I'm a big fan of recycling things/re-using them for some purpose.
You do excellent work! Why was durock used for this job site on the walls as opposed to using the foam boards like goboard? Was it because of cost or product quality?
What's the wet mill thickness of the Triton liquid waterproofing supposed to be compared to others? It looks really thin and needs another coat. But maybe it's just because I'm used to using laticrete Hydroban liquid waterproofing
Would love to try this product but I haven’t been able to find it here in Michigan yet. Can’t seem to find a place to order it online either. Any direction on where to purchase this would be much appreciated. Thanks for all you guys do.

Love your videos. I would like to suggest you look into a dust deputy. It is a cyclone dust separator for your vacuum. They work great and next to nothing gets to the filter in the vac. Saves time and money. Home Depot makes one that works ok,just goes on a 5 gallon bucket. Well worth it
Beautiful work and you got very creative,GOD BLESS
Guys I’m loving all the videos, I wouldn’t mind watching more kitchen stuff. There’s always new tips and tricks you guys show on every video plus it may help other people get ideas for their kitchens. As for the shield I love that thing I carry one too. Much love studpack love the content I look every couple days for the next video you two are awesome.
Jordan, savor this time with your Dad. Loving this series. Can't wait to see what happens in Texas!
Try a Depp product called Plastic Wood. It dries hard and sands beautifully. I’ve used it for patching nicks in walls, covering pocket holes when I ran out of the little covers and nicks in baseboard.
If there's an award for Best UA-cam Video Title, you've won it! And it'll keep me happy for weeks on end. These days, I need all the mirth I can find, so many thanks!
Some are vinyl and nothing soaks through.
Yes Leroy from New Jersey. You waterproofed everything but the neech in the shower. Is something going there to waterproof that.
That was hilarious with the gun... literally looked like nacho cheese dipped!
While watching you guys work this bathroom so smoothly, I'd still never attempt on my own! Major props to how thorough you guys are!
You do excellent work! Why was durock used for this job site on the walls as opposed to using the foam boards like goboard? Was it because of cost or product quality?
17:30 rewatching this video and I still love how these guys keep it real lmfaoo.
Need a range day w/ stud pack video!
First like! 🎉 😂 and comment! Love Stud Pack! Love the father and son action, reminds me of the old days with my dad.
I enjoy your videos always learning from you guys!!!! I have a question: what model of sprayer machine did you use for painting?
Ok, I’m going to start at the end with the dip of your weapon!!! OMG I cringed at how that is or will be hard a clean! That was epically bad Paul! But to answer the question of do we want to see the other kitchen remodels? That’s a big HELL TO THE YES!!! Love all your video’s ❤❤❤
At least it was water based!
I almost cried when you showed that poor sidearm covered in membrane. That must have been a lot of fun to break down and clean up.
FWIW: a decoupling membrane should be pressed using a roller to make sure there is full contact.
Love the Father and Son team!!
I literally cheer every time I get on UA-cam and see a post by y’all. 🤩🤩🤩
Even the video of scraping concrete gave me cold chills lol
Thanks guys! I’ve learned so much from you two.
Love the video guys. You two still the best around love it!
Nice. I basically did the same thing with my shower a few years back by putting Schluter membrane on the floor and Laticrete liquid membrane on the walls.
You two make me want to dive in and do a project in the house after watching your videos. Really appreciate the time and effort into the videos, i know they don't come out in the first take so big applause for the video and editing and patience the both of you show working together! Also, great team work on explaining everything in detail, you find a lot of other channels don't go into the detail you two do. It is much appreciated and nothing better than hearing about new and also trusted old products for when a remodel is in the future for us DIYers. Thank you both! Thought of a question for you both, at what size area do you switch to a paint brush/roller for inside painting?
