Great Tutorial! I don't know if I'll ever cut low enough to justify a groomer, but it's a long term goal. And great work putting together this video. You would've thought that this was an official Toro tutorial. Appreciate all the hard hours you out into making content for us.
Will you be using a groomer this year?
@@LG-cz4hb Heya LG. Probably not this year. I'm going to try to maintain at .50" the entire year. If I can pull that off successfully, perhaps next season. You really have to be under .50 to justify using a groomer. It's really for greens.
@@LG-cz4hb thanks man! This was a fun video to make. Very niche and probably not applicable for most of the community, but on the odd chance someone gets a mower with a groomer on it already, this might help. Thanks for watching the content.
Nice info Ron! Never used a groomer before, but since my lawn is 100% kbg now, I may have to in the future. Thanks 😊
Cool George. It really only makes sense once you start approaching green heights of cut. So under .5”. Probably more like .35 and lower.
Nice Ron
Thanks man! I appreciate it. Was definitely a fun one to make. 😎👍
Always quality videos Ron 👍
I try :-)
Another great video Ron. It is a very important part of mowing. On my Liberty 43 there is a rake that needs to be adjusted when changing the HOC. To be honest since I used the mower a hand full of times since getting it in the Fall. I hadn't paid much mind to the rake but now will be more conscious of what it is for and its function. Thank you.
Thanks Striperman. It's cool that the concept carried over to your mower as well. Anything we can do to keep the turf from getting overly dense is a good thing. There's always something right? 😎
Great video Ron! I just picked up a Toro, glad I came across your video
Glad it’s helpful Bermuda Boss. Appreciate you watching.
🌞Top quality video right there! Great video even though I don't own a Toro. 😀
Thanks so much Sunny Bermuda. Appreciate you watching.
Hi Ron, really like your videos. Thank you. Also, can you make a video showing how the groomer works and what the grass looks after you use the groomer? Thanks a lot!
Hi Robert 99% of home lawns don’t need a groomer. Unless you’re mowing at .30” or shorter, they’re not worth using. It’s really a tool for golf greens vs. the lawn. Appreciate you watching sir. 🙏😎
Nice vid...I unfortunately don’t have a groomer gauge....I use a ghetto fabulous tweak to similar process to get mine ‘allllllmost right’. Lol.
Haha. As detailed as you are Frankie, your "almost right" is probably better than most. :-)
Hey Ron nice video.. 👍I'm wondering should I put a groomer on my tru cut Now ✂️ 🤔
Hi Darrell. I don't think they make groomers for the TruCut. Even if they did, it's not something you're going to want unless you're mowing under half an inch. At .3 inches or lower is when I'd consider one. Thanks for watching the content. 😎👍
@@RonHenry okay thanks..✋
@@fairwaybermudalawn no problem at all.
You thinking of adding a groomer to your GM1600?
'Not quite yet Jeff. I'd need to be mowing lower than .5" to really see any benefit. I'm not there yet. Maybe next season. :-)
On my way just need that Toro 😬🤘🏼
I hear you Lawn 2 Learn. It's a cool setup for very low heights of cut. It's really designed for greens.
Hey Ron Question....
If you could buy a Toro TM 1000 that’s a bit beat up but cuts perfectly for $600
Would that be considered a decent deal ?
Thanks in advance
@@lawn2learn if it's functional then absolutely yes. As long as mechanically sound and cutting well, it sounds like a great deal. Even if you have to put some money in it and end up near 1k, you'd still be ahead.
Thank you.
No problem at all sir. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Can the gauge be used for the groomer and reel HOC? Or is it specific to the groomer only?
The groomer gage is specific to groomers. The way the tool is configured, doesn't make it ideal for setting HOC.
Hello Ron how often should I engage the groomer? Will possibly be maintaining my lawn at .35 this year
Start with weekly and see how the lawn looks botros. Verrrrry few people mow their lawns at .35 consistently to where groomers are effective.
@@RonHenry Thank you so much. I have got a Toro GM 2100. With the current set up i will have to cut short🙃 until I change the setup then i can probably go up to .5 or .75. Thank you for being awesome I love your video and love you as a human being. One of the best youtuber i Watch
@@botrosmarzouk6194 really appreciate the kind words sir. Glad the content is helpful. :-)
So I’m confused. If I have my toro HOC set to 0.4 for example then the lowest point of the groomer is set to 0.20? Won’t that put it below the blade?
Hi Jerry. Yep that's the idea. In the video the front and rear rollers represent the turf surface. You set the bedknife .40" away from the rollers and the groomer .20" away from the front rollers. So so the groomer lightly combs or "grooms" the grass vertically so that you get a better cut. The groomer has to be set slightly lower than the height of cut to work properly. Make sense?
@@RonHenry yes but you had started the segment saying that could set the height above or below the HOC and the latter wears out the groomer faster. So I thought is a bad thing. Do you use your groomer for the whole season?
No livestream this week? 🥺
Oh it's happening sir. Just posted it in announcements. 😎
@@RonHenry Just saw that! I was getting worried for a minute. I almost thought I was going to have to find something else to do this evening...like hang out with family. Yikes!
👍
Thanks sir.
