Thats right. The stratocaster is simply more iconic, and more imitated and influential. It’s design is far more innovative. I remember when I first saw one at the music shop when I was about 8 years old. It looked so cool and futuristic, even though it was over 30 years old at the time.
It's a good list. Whether or not you think the Strat or Les Paul is better, it depends on what sound you want. My personal favorites are the Les Paul with Humbuckers, Flying Vs, ES-335s, and super-Strats (with a humbucker in the bridge pickup position). Robin Trower went from Gibson in Procal Harum to a Strat on his own songs.
Gibson had SSGs made at their Baldwin piano factory in China for music students and is a copy of a 1964 SG and I picked one up in a liquidation store for only $130.00 CAD. You can find them on eBay for about $200.00 USD. There are also the Epiphone copies which are considerably cheaper. Epiphone is owned by Gibson and I used to have an Epiphone E335 which cost me $800.00 CAD.
That's because they've sold more electric guitars than all other companies combined. Probably 90% of successful musicians either play a fender or gibson or both. Les Paul, Telecaster, and Strat are the most popular by many many magnitudes. These three are so good that most companies have copies of them.
@@aaroncurtis8545 Ibanez makes great guitars, but they started out by making gibson and fender copies. I have an Ibanez st-50 that was made in 79 or 80. I've owned it since 82.
Mickey Akerfeels Actually James has two Gibson explorers he uses during tours and previously owned two 1984 Gibson explorers that he used for recording and playing live during much of the 80's and early 90's but as you said he mainly uses ESP explorers
I played once on a custom 24 at a friends place (i cant afford one) and it was amazing. That guy builds guitars by himself and not bad, but that PRS just rocks.
Fender Stratocaster should be number 1. There’s a reason why legends like Hendrix and Clapton used the strat. It’s pretty consistent no matter who you buy it from. My squier strat is a budget model but it can tackle punk rock and power metal as good as pop and country
SaturnValleyGamer The Jaguar and Jazzmaster are also just overall great guitars. They're pretty much everything great about a Strat with some improvements slapped on.
Colton let's see if we can get you dialed in on what you were watching. This video is about the guitar models only, not the maker nor the guitarist. When the countdown got to the Flying V, they showed Jimi playing his because that's the guitar they were talking about. They weren't talking about Jimi Hendrix, or the Strat, or even Fender. They were talking about the Flying V. Did you even notice they showed Lonnie Mack, Albert King and Dave Davies playing their Flying V's? Did you think that when Hendrix popped up he would be on a Strat if they were talking about the Flying V? The beauty of UA-cam is that you can replay any section of a video if necessary. I highly recommend it.
+Jimmy C Wise choice. I got my Electromatic G5422, and boy is it amazing. I would suggest you replace the stock bridge with a rocking bar bridge if you buy the Tennessean, it sounds much better using a bigsby with a rocking bar.
+Waflkone - I can't wait to get it. But while I agree that the bar works best when using the tremolo, basically, I'm a rhythm player and I have to have correct intonation up the neck. Hence...I need the adjustable bridge.
MarquisProdz I like a P-Bass, but think my vote for best bass would have to be a Fender Jazz Bass V. There is no style of music that bass does not sound great playing. I'd give the P-Bass second place. After that, I don't know. Perhaps a Spector, MTD, Ibanez or Yamaha 5 string bass. Active pickups, or course.
Yes he may have used a Flying V or SG once in while but no doubt when you think of Jimi Hendrix , you know his main guitar was a strat,,,,,,,, At woodstock he could have chosen any guitar but you see what he used
Jenna Blue I agree. I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better than the other, but the Strat is more iconic. It's definitely the most influential guitar design - the most outright copied in fact. It's also the most recognisable to those who don't really know guitars. Ask a random punter to draw an electric guitar and they'll probably draw something that looks a bit like a Strat.
Chinchillupa Guy Maybe. I'm not sure a majority of the great un-guitar-playing masses would be able to name any model of guitar, though. It's definitely not high on their list of priorities. Unless they're musos. I hadn't heard of strats or LPs before I took up guitar (although I was a 14 year old kid at that time). Maybe we should try that experiment sometime.
Anything you can do on a les paul you can do better on a strat using the boner bar. just check out Jimi Hendrix and Hank Marvin and watch and learn plus strats are perfectly balanced you can let go of it with both hands and it will stay on your lap , do that with a les paul and it will fall on the floor ,a strat was designed also for comfort and contour to fit your body a les paul is not
I think that "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and "Mr. Tambourine Man" by The Byrds really brought Rickenbacker guitars to the forefront, especially the 12-string models. To me, that's the "Holy Grail" of guitars I'd like to own, but I need to get A LOT better before considering myself worthy to play one.
Even though i've tried many brands models (ibanez RG's, Schecter Demon 6 and C1, and last but not least Sterling by Musicman JP150), my fave guitars of all time are Fender Stratocaster (pref. HSH) and Telecaster (HH). They just give me all the vibes and inspire me to play more often than the other guitars i've tried.
The 63 Gretsch Jet Firebird was more of a cheap throw away guitar. Malcolm's personal GJF is an anomaly due to the complete combination of the man and the entire rig. Not to mention extensive modifications. This video is about successful and iconic models. Not one-off customs
@@Evilinc666 I would put in a PRS too, but I PRS just doesn't have the history behind it like a GIbson Explorer does. Maybe in twenty years time when more great guitarists actually use a PRS. Also gotta factor in that the price of a PRS excludes a lot of guitarists from starting out on them compared to a Strat or a Tele which anyone can buy at a decent price.
Tjaart Blignaut a lot of guitarists and other musicians have made that comparison themselves. Most notably, SRV. Also, I'm not sure if you meant Tyson or the Edge is mediocre. Either way, their achievements say otherwise.

Why isn't this titled "Top 10 Electric Guitar Models of All Time"? As a fan of both electric and acoustic guitars, it's disappointing to see that WatchMojo apparently thinks all acoustic guitars models don't count as "guitars".
Accoustic guitars don't count. They are all wood coloured, the strings are impossible to bend and have come in the same shape since the first one was made. You have to be either a luthier or an accoustic guitar salesman to claim there is any difference between any of them. And they are Folkie. I can't get behind that.
Moistmuscle The strings are bendable. And compare This:www.coolhunting.com/tech/stereo-acoustic-1 to this(The standard acoustic guitar look):ahdimages.com/cool-acoustic-guitars/cool-acoustic-guitars-2/ You can also get them in any colour you want, i have one that's matte black and one that's matte blue
Moistmuscle I don't have an acoustic guitar, and even I know there is a huge deference between different Brands. Many different guitar models maybe by the same people sound different from one another. And acoustic strings are bendable.
Should be a slightly easier list as there was less change in bass designs over the years. Probably the ten that had the most longevity and/ or influence would be (not in order): Fender Precision Fender Jazz Rickenbacker 4001 Music Man Stingray Steinberger Gibson Thunderbird Gibson EB-3 Alembic series I/ II (Stanley Clark, Mark King) Hofner Violin Bass (McCartney connection) Aria SB600/ 1000 (Cliff Burton, John Taylor)

+Guitar Lessons BobbyCrispy -Friend just bought a new one. Sounds fantastc. Best electric 12 I've heard since the 1958 Gibson 6/12 Double neck with PAF pickups that I once owned. Played that through a Fender Showman & later a Fender twin reverb with Black widow speakers and it was a fantastic sound..I used a Fender Leslie Speaker unit for some songsand that combination was great too.

***** I believe he only uses the Tele with humbucker on a small number of songs though. I'd have to pay more attention to know for sure. But I think Telecasters are just beautiful either way. That classic yellowish body with a black pick guard is just simple enough to look amazing in my opinion.
***** Oh I just found out the guitar he uses is a fender custom, with a single coil bridge pickup with a humbucker neck pickup, I case you wanted to know.
I just can't get over the monkey grip on the Ibanez Gem. It makes it like the guitar version of a bowling bowl to me. Plus I hate scalloped frets... that tone though.
Played correctly and with the right kind of music a scalloped neck guitar can be the perfect instrument. John McLaughlin's Electric Guitarist album was recorded with a scalloped neck Gibson and the custom acoustic they made for his Shakti recordings is amazing!
+Jim Slam I guess you really like that PRS then, I don't play my 22 as much as my strat. But all of my guitars get played. PRS are good instruments, but they don't cover the tone or feel of a strat or a LP. Scale length is right in the middle as is the body shape.
+Jim Slam Oh yeah I definitely agree with that. PRS is definately crazy precise, well researched, and even scientifically devised nowadays. They have absolutely killer quality control. PRS make probably some of the most technically balanced and toned guitars. I kind of rave about them. But you definitely pay for the difference you know? Like it's definitely a superior guitar range to most of what you see out there. But sometimes I get bored of its range of sounds or feel and want to play the strat or lp simply because they're different. It's a personal thing for sure.
Well being the owner of Les Paul Custom and a deluxe Strat - I would say eventhough Les Pauls are cool looking and heavy sounding things - the Strats are much more versatile with bigger range of sounds. Therefore this guitar should be #1 instead of Les Paul
Strats are also more iconic. Back before playing guitar, if anyone played electric I'd assume it was a strat (without realising it). It should have been #3 Tele #2 Les Paul #1 Stratocaster, IMO. Even though Teles are my personal favourite. :)
+John D not to mention that strats are by FAR the most copied guitar to ever exist. when you're a kid who knows nothing about guitars, and someone asks you to imagine a guitar, you're going to imagine a strat. they are just by far the most iconic guitars to ever exist. and out of my 30-something guitars, almost all the best ones are strats (a few are teles).
The versatility of the strat should, IMO beat the LP. Just look at the various guitarists playing it: Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen, SRV, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix etc etc etc A Strat can be made into sounding like an LP, but an LP can never sound like a strat. The 3 single coils also provide far more options than 2 humbuckers..
just coz a strat is versatile doesnt make it better than a LP and humbuckers sound better to ALOT of people also its not just the pickups or shape, different scale lengths appeal to different people i prefer gibsons and if i made the list SG would be top because its the best guitar IMO
Nothing is like a Strat, nothing is like a Paul. Teles are great too, not least if customised with coil tapped quality humbuckers. I'm thankful to own all of the above including a p90 equipped LP studio. Discussions about which is 'best' are fun but in the end its like discussing your favourite beer, cheese, holiday destination, sport or sunset. Probabaly the Telecaster deserves number one as its so versatile, playable and affordable and was the first mass produced solid body axe.
Stephen Hayes My vote is with you, my friend. I retired my main Strat a few years ago because mainly 1) it had become difficult to play due to fret wear and 2) I had come to the same conclusion as you regarding the Telecaster. My main Telecaster is in every way superior to my '75 Strat; the only exception is that it doesn't have a whammy bar. But that's really a non-issue these days and if I just have to have a tremolo equipped axe, I have others in addition to the Strat.
Flying V should be way higher on the list. Not so much for playability but cause it's an icon for pretty much all metal and rock. And I miss Rebecca as the narrator.
VegetasCorndog I know what you mean, but it's not so much the iconic player that makes the flying v, but rather the guitar itself is the icon. Any non-guitarist can still name the flying v by sight, and it's really common in any type of rock n roll logo or artwork.
you are probably correct, the VARITONE is not on the ES 335 except for the 'LUCILLE' model and that one has no 'F' holes, the only other model Berry could be playing here is an ES 355, NICE ONE
I commented that the BMG series of guitars (Brian May replicas) are absolutely brilliant and in fact superior to my Fenders and Gibsons. Those are mass produced but this video just mentioned "the usual suspects", no real investigation was done.
Oh. I don't think its worthy of the "Top 10 Guitar Models of All Time" title, or its honourable mentions. Not a classic, or even a good guitar. Its like comparing a Rolls Royce with that shit-mobile you drove to high school with. XD
Hi mike! I thinkthose are undoubtly awesome guitars, but in therms of design they haven't been as controversial as the guitars on the list (except for the awful jem, shouldn't be there). Sorry for my english, not my native language.
I do think I'd have replaced the Jem with a PRS of some kind. Something largely ignored by the video are pieces of hardware involved. sometimes it wasn't the guitar itself, but a major change in hardware. The mentioned the jump from P90s to the humbucker. What about the Bigsby tremolo, the Hardtail, Tune-o-Matic and Floyd Rose systems? Those were certainly game changers that were likely more important than the guitar itself.
No. And thats because the Jem caused a revolution when it came out in 1987. A lot of technical aspects we take for granted nowdays didnt exists before de Jem. That body shape that has been copied to boredom, didnt really exists before. The soloists were smaller strat shapes at best. Just like maybe Floyd Rose bridges are now a pain in the ass and a lot of people avoid them because there are better options now... Back in the day it was a revolution for bridges. A miracle for performers. And PRS are cool, but their philosophy has always been to try to achieve the best of 2 iconic guitars that are on this list. Not really a breakthru and most of the time they dont sound like neither.
+Crimson Yoshi My response to this would be that those companies copied the basic designs of Gibson and Fender. To take it a step further, both Prs and ESP have been sued by Gibson over copyright infringements. This is why you cannot buy a new explorer ESP in the USA legally anymore. This is also why PRS has their tone volume knobs opposite of the LP
You swear diversity is the only thing that matters. Tone? LP ( IMO ), sustain? LP. craftsmanship? LP. durability? LP. The only thing the strat has over it is diversity and feel. I do prefer the feel of a strat, but the LP is just better.
Travis Brimstone LP more durable than a Strat? Strats can take far more of a beating than the LP, and if something does break, you can easily swap it out. As for craftsmanship, they are pretty much the same. Unless you're talking about custom shop stuff, the standard lines of both those guitars get roughly the same amount of work. And Customizability? Strat. Value for money? Strat.
Fender Jazzmaster for me. Comfortable body, distinctive sound, really nice trem system, looks beautiful. So many innovative guitarists used it as their no. 1, people like Kevin Shields, J Mascis, Tom Verlaine, Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Nels Cline... the list is endless. Personally I really dislike the Les Paul, really uncomfortable for me to play.
dude totally agree. I also like that ur name is a sonic youth album and ur pic is loveless. That sounds sarcastic but its not seriously u may well be the most alternative person in existence
Jazz over Jag all day. Had two Jaguars in my lifetime, they both where terrible at staying in tune. My father had a Jazzmaster. It was amazing in nearly every way compared to the Jaguar.
+Joel Glisson (Mirror Of Immortals) prs are my favourite guitars, yet i have to admit they are not as "iconic" as ibanezs. and since this is clearly not a top ten of the BEST guitars ever made but of the "most famous", then it's ok prs is not in here i think.
Scott Guest ikr! The strat is literally anything you want it to be, no matter what kind of player you are. It’s also I’m pretty sure the best selling guitar of all time, and rightfully so. I have a strat and I’ve never played a better guitar, even though my tele and LP come close.
My favorite model is a model my uncle got for me in I think 2017 it’s the ovation celebrity elite I only play it on special Occasions because of how precious it is to me it’s beautiful
I agree you can't rate guitars. They're all different. 2 identical Strats or whatever will play and feel different to each other. Yes, i do play guitar.
But you can assess how iconic the particular instrument is and how prevalent it is in the music world. Both of those definitely are playing a major part in the rankings.
false. They're about equally as popular. Both are about equally as good except probably 15x as work goes into making a LP then a strat. It feels that way too. I prefer the LP BC I like the music LP is better suited for, but also because of the sustain, and because it feels like a tank. It doesn't feel like a dainty flower like a strat. Although both are the best basically.
Yeah, for me it's the Fenders. A deep red Stratocaster would be just fine, thank you. I used to know a guy in Humboldt County that made beautiful redwood guitars. He took me down to SF with him to deliver one to a guy there. I later saw Carlos Santana playing it when I went to a gig where Santana was playing. It was really pretty and sounded great.
Klinklang4ever it should've been an honorable mention with the jazzmaster and the jaguar. Keep in mind the people doing these videos are not guitar players however.
Not even a mention of the Brian May's Red Special?? It's a unique instrument for sure, built by himself and can get lots of great sounds out of it! Should have been mentioned at least!! Some excellent riffs have come from that!
Agreed. I didn't expect it to be mentioned, he's the only one who plays it after all, but I would personally put The Red Special in the top 5 at least.
Actually, Queen are the most talented guys musically since Mozart was around, Brian is one of the best guitarists in the world, and replicas of the Red Special are sold all around the world, just because you don't like them doesn't mean they don't have talent, please take your head out of your ass before you speak again sir

never woulda guessed the sg was the top selling Gibson of all time, crazy
I was kinda shocked to, but when I tried one, the only thing holding me back was my wallet.
Well compare costs of an sg to a les Paul and that should show its results

I played once on a custom 24 at a friends place (i cant afford one) and it was amazing. That guy builds guitars by himself and not bad, but that PRS just rocks.
I agree that PRS fucking rock.
I think I would easily put the P22 or the Custom 24 instead of the Rickenbacker

Fender Stratocaster should be number 1. There’s a reason why legends like Hendrix and Clapton used the strat. It’s pretty consistent no matter who you buy it from. My squier strat is a budget model but it can tackle punk rock and power metal as good as pop and country
If you ask a non guitar player to draw an electric, they will probably draw a strat or something similar, i agree with you
@Arpad Jones Jeff Beck played an esquire. ?

So true!

Kurt Cobain Me.
lol Kurt Cobain is a coward
SaturnValleyGamer The Jaguar and Jazzmaster are also just overall great guitars. They're pretty much everything great about a Strat with some improvements slapped on.
Why did they only show Jimi Hendrix playing a Gibson... his most famous guitar was the strat🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
The Flying V hero #1 is Rudy Schenker of Scorpions.

+Waflkone - I agree. I'm looking to add a Tennessean to my collection soon.
+Jimmy C True. Well anyways, you're going to love that Gretsch!

An adjustable roller bridge might be your best bet.
Can we get a top ten basses?

Ruckenbacker 4003 is my favorite bass
MarquisProdz My fav's at the moment are the Gibson EB0, and an old Fender Tele bass.
If they did that rickenbacker would be #1
MarquisProdz I like a P-Bass, but think my vote for best bass would have to be a Fender Jazz Bass V. There is no style of music that bass does not sound great playing. I'd give the P-Bass second place. After that, I don't know. Perhaps a Spector, MTD, Ibanez or Yamaha 5 string bass. Active pickups, or course.

Strat and Les Paul should be switched (just my opinion, don't slander me)
Jenna Blue i agree because the start is like every kids first electric guitar
Jenna Blue I agree. I wouldn't say that one is necessarily better than the other, but the Strat is more iconic. It's definitely the most influential guitar design - the most outright copied in fact. It's also the most recognisable to those who don't really know guitars. Ask a random punter to draw an electric guitar and they'll probably draw something that looks a bit like a Strat.
Colin Wilkie but ask them to name a guitar and they would probably say les paul. idk who knows
AGREE
Chinchillupa Guy Maybe. I'm not sure a majority of the great un-guitar-playing masses would be able to name any model of guitar, though. It's definitely not high on their list of priorities. Unless they're musos. I hadn't heard of strats or LPs before I took up guitar (although I was a 14 year old kid at that time). Maybe we should try that experiment sometime.
the strats place is well earned you can do all most everything on it and its so many peoples first electric

Ricky Companion I mean squires are pretty cheap
yea a squire would be a perfect first guitar not a strat though
Ya for real I'm left handed I got my strat 3 months ago in my opinion best beginning guitar
Anything you can do on a les paul you can do better on a strat using the boner bar. just check out Jimi Hendrix and Hank Marvin and watch and learn
plus strats are perfectly balanced you can let go of it with both hands and it will stay on your lap , do that with a les paul and it will fall on the floor ,a strat
was designed also for comfort and contour to fit your body a les paul is not
I love Rickenbacker mostly because The Beatles used it in their early years on songs like She’s A Woman, All My Loving, and I Want to Hold Your Hand

Why isn't this titled "Top 10 Electric Guitar Models of All Time"? As a fan of both electric and acoustic guitars, it's disappointing to see that WatchMojo apparently thinks all acoustic guitars models don't count as "guitars".
I completely agree, but it's not the people who make the videos who choose the guitars. There's a vote on their website
Mainly cos this is done on types of guitar ie. SG/ Flying V etc., Acoustic guitars have the same model across the board
And compare This:www.coolhunting.com/tech/stereo-acoustic-1
to this(The standard acoustic guitar look):ahdimages.com/cool-acoustic-guitars/cool-acoustic-guitars-2/
You can also get them in any colour you want, i have one that's matte black and one that's matte blue
Moistmuscle I don't have an acoustic guitar, and even I know there is a huge deference between different Brands. Many different guitar models maybe by the same people sound different from one another. And acoustic strings are bendable.

Unless you're claiming that the guitar never existed before the auction, you really don't have a point.
Well being the owner of Les Paul Custom and a deluxe Strat - I would say eventhough Les Pauls are cool looking and heavy sounding things - the Strats are much more versatile with bigger range of sounds. Therefore this guitar should be #1 instead of Les Paul
+John D agreed
+John D Yeah, Strats rules!
Strats are also more iconic. Back before playing guitar, if anyone played electric I'd assume it was a strat (without realising it). It should have been #3 Tele #2 Les Paul #1 Stratocaster, IMO. Even though Teles are my personal favourite. :)
+John D Agreed man, strats are way more versatile. Les Pauls are great guitars with a great heavy sound but I like stratocasters more.
Just look at the various guitarists playing it: Mark Knopfler, Jimi Hendrix, Yngwie Malmsteen, SRV, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix etc etc etc
A Strat can be made into sounding like an LP, but an LP can never sound like a strat. The 3 single coils also provide far more options than 2 humbuckers..
You forgot Jimi Hendrix
business dog How stupid am I? Of course, Jimi Hendrix also
just coz a strat is versatile doesnt make it better than a LP and humbuckers sound better to ALOT of people
also its not just the pickups or shape, different scale lengths appeal to different people i prefer gibsons and if i made the list SG would be top because its the best guitar IMO
+Baxham100 This list is based on general musicality, therefore versatility, in this case, would make a guitar better than others.
Dave Murray also plays a Stratocaster
Stephen Hayes Nothing is like a tre-molo whammy bar system
Stephen Hayes
Customised? Why, just buy a Jag or something. Tele is best bog standard. Leave it alone. Ditto Strat. On the Les Paul, taps are ok.
Ibanez gio and tele are like a strat, a prs is like a lp
Mines the Telecaster. Beautiful shape, awesome twangy sound, smooth comfy shape, super diverse, just perfect
I have a Squier Telecaster, which I modified by adding the Bigsby onto it. I LOVE it!
Flying V should be way higher on the list. Not so much for playability but cause it's an icon for pretty much all metal and rock. And I miss Rebecca as the narrator.
But it looks silly :(
Disagree, not that many rockstars actually have used em in the grand scheme of things, but it does deserve to be on this list in top 10!
VegetasCorndog I know what you mean, but it's not so much the iconic player that makes the flying v, but rather the guitar itself is the icon. Any non-guitarist can still name the flying v by sight, and it's really common in any type of rock n roll logo or artwork.

iSpi Well, gotta drive that one to high school because my van is reserved to presc...

How's a PRS Custom 24 not even in honorable mentions... Should be top 5 honestly
Hi mike! I thinkthose are undoubtly awesome guitars, but in therms of design they haven't been as controversial as the guitars on the list (except for the awful jem, shouldn't be there).
Sorry for my english, not my native language.
I realized that the PRS 513 is probably like the best guitar in the world as soon as I bought it it's like 25 times better than Ibanez and Les Paul
It's basically a custom 24 PRS with 13 sounds and 5 pickups
How did Ibanez get on the list and Prs or esp did not?
Coz Steve Vai
plus, esp usually makes super-strats
6The6Devil6 So do Ibanez
+Crimson Yoshi Cause of the Superstrat craze of the 80's - Ibanez, Jackson, Kramer, etc.
I think you got the top 4 correct. I love Gibson's but understand that Fender makes great guitars too. Most players own both brands.
Really? Les Paul over a strat? Really?
The strat is far more diverse.
You swear diversity is the only thing that matters. Tone? LP ( IMO ), sustain? LP. craftsmanship? LP. durability? LP. The only thing the strat has over it is diversity and feel. I do prefer the feel of a strat, but the LP is just better.
Umm, yeah!! but its jus cuz i like the beefy sound of the les paul..but i guess u like the bright tone of a strat....Its all subjective anyways... :-)
Curtis Yes, really.
Strats are nice, but Les Pauls are fucking awesome.
Travis Brimstone
LP more durable than a Strat? Strats can take far more of a beating than the LP, and if something does break, you can easily swap it out. As for craftsmanship, they are pretty much the same. Unless you're talking about custom shop stuff, the standard lines of both those guitars get roughly the same amount of work. And Customizability? Strat. Value for money? Strat.
what about paper jamz?
FE4RCSGO They're fake.

I can tell you like that from your pfp
Mustang or Jag for me.
dude totally agree. I also like that ur name is a sonic youth album and ur pic is loveless. That sounds sarcastic but its not seriously u may well be the most alternative person in existence
@@natefusillo6578 Haha
Jazz over Jag all day. Had two Jaguars in my lifetime, they both where terrible at staying in tune. My father had a Jazzmaster. It was amazing in nearly every way compared to the Jaguar.
I love my Gretsch! I can hardly stand to put it down and play any of my others.. great video.
They were top notch back for the country players in the day.
Really? Nothing from PRS? Not even a custom 24? Someone explain to me how an Ibanez made it on the list, but not a PRS?
The list is made by people who know jack shit about guitars other than the ones they see in guitar hero.
+Joel Glisson (Mirror Of Immortals) you fine sir are right. PRS are extremely amazing and Incubus used it as long as many other bands.
+Joel Glisson (Mirror Of Immortals) prs are my favourite guitars, yet i have to admit they are not as "iconic" as ibanezs. and since this is clearly not a top ten of the BEST guitars ever made but of the "most famous", then it's ok prs is not in here i think.
Why Ibanez? A ESP didn't even make it onto this list! Even PRS didn't even make it! WTF
+Stirling He ALL of the Above >>> AUTISTIC LICENSE . . . . . . .
My favorite guitar model is the SG.
Fo Sho
Just can’t quite get that throaty bark from other guitars
Just got one and have had strats and teles and nothing quite like it
Same - but I have never owned a Les paul. I own a strat and a "super strat" and I love the SG so much more so.
Im a fender fanboy and I don’t like Gibson but if i had to choose a Gibson it’d be an SG. They’re just so cool looking.
True top three:
1. Strat
2. Les Paul
3. Telecaster
In any order according to taste.
Despite being a Les Paul fan, I was surprised Strat wasn't #1 purely for versatility.
Scott Guest ikr! The strat is literally anything you want it to be, no matter what kind of player you are. It’s also I’m pretty sure the best selling guitar of all time, and rightfully so. I have a strat and I’ve never played a better guitar, even though my tele and LP come close.
Yeah, that’s what I would say, too.
yeo that's the exact list I had in my head
agree
My favorite model is a model my uncle got for me in I think 2017 it’s the ovation celebrity elite I only play it on special Occasions because of how precious it is to me it’s beautiful
So.....bass next?
Yea i'd like to see that
P bass or j bass? Which do you prefer
Isaiah Stubblefield I prefer J bass
I'm really hoping that'll be their next video
Fender Jazz Bass Wins...
Haven't watched it yet and already disagree. You can't rate guitars. It's all personal preference
I agree you can't rate guitars. They're all different. 2 identical Strats or whatever will play and feel different to each other. Yes, i do play guitar.
So true. The guitarist makes the dif.
But you can assess how iconic the particular instrument is and how prevalent it is in the music world. Both of those definitely are playing a major part in the rankings.
You can rate music, though.
I don't agree with your logic.
Les Paul totally beats the strat
It honestly doesn't. You may prefer the tone, but the strat is generally far more favoured and iconic.
robbafett I disagree that it is more popular than the les paul is.
The gibson les paul sounds great! But the only thing I don't like about it is that fat shape...
Eh Gibson's production has gone to shit in the last few years fender is still going strong
I'm sad the Gibson Firebird wasn't on here at all.
Me too! That's a beautiful guitar!
Klinklang4ever my man
Seeing Allen Collins with his searing lead on Freebird with that Guitar in his hands is an image I won't ever forget
I know! Not even an honorable mention
Jordykirk
They're being produced now. I saw one at a music store a while back.
Betty Pendegrast I agree although he is very famous and iconic he isn't that amazing
Jets rule
Actually, Queen are the most talented guys musically since Mozart was around, Brian is one of the best guitarists in the world, and replicas of the Red Special are sold all around the world, just because you don't like them doesn't mean they don't have talent, please take your head out of your ass before you speak again sir

to keep with the topic of music. could u do top 10 drum models of all time?
What about bass models?
Snuffy Churros They are not gonna do a bassmodel top 10, cause that WOULD require them to list some jazz players and watchmojo don't like jazz.
Shows Jimmy Page with a Les Paul. Most of Led Zeppelins catalogue was recorded in a Telecaster. Including Stairway.
even people don't know that stevie ray vaughan recorded several of his famous songs with a tele.....
To be fair, Jimmy is more known for using an LP.
Funny how based on jimmy’s playing, the sound of the telecaster probably sold more les Paul’s in the 70’s than anything else.
@@DrewPeabaws yeah lol
The only part of Stairway that was recorded with a tele was the solo. He also used a Martin accoustic , a Les Paul and, from what I've read, a SG.
